About Shauna Nelson
Jim and I have owned our place at the Kiahuna Plantation for 11 years. When I first mentioned to Jim that we should purchase a property in Hawaii, he knew exactly where he wanted to buy. The Kiahuna has never lost the 'old Hawaii' feel and we just love it. Romance and family time abound here. You feel tucked away amongst the trees and gardens and of course the beautiful beach. We actually bought out place site, unseen! As soon as we closed escrow we flew over with my mom in hand and began enjoying! A couple of years ago we completely remodeled and made it more to our liking. Jim is the South Pacific Regional Manager of Hain Corporation which is the largest organic food company in the world. He is on the road most weeks so we do enjoy our weekends in our place in Big Bear, California. Shauna is the office manager for Adams Properties in Southern California. I manage industrial parks through Southern California. We have 4 grown children, 3 married and our bachelor. We have a 5 yr. old grandaughter that lives in Austin, Texas with her parents and a 10 month old grandson that is about 8 minutes from us who also lives with his parents! We both enjoy golfing and usually are doing it together wherever we can. We both enjoy traveling and plan our trips a year in advance. We love our Kauai beach place and our vacation rental also in Palm Desert, CA. Both of these properties we bought with family in mind. The kids enjoy visiting both of these destinations and we hope to spend lots more time in them in the future. Two of the kids spent their honeymoons on Kauai and are planning on returning with their children. This is exactly what we had in mind when we purchased here.
Shauna Nelson purchased this Condo in 1998
Why Shauna Nelson chose Poipu
The Kiahuna Plantation is exactly what you would expect to see when you come to Kauai. Beautiful Banyan trees that have been there forever, orchid gardens and the colorful Hawaiian birds that come up to your lanai. It's a relaxing place and I love to read our visitor's comments in our books about all the things they did but they usually just wanted to 'kick back'.
What makes this Condo unique
The Kiahuna Plantation has everything you would need in walking distance. We have a beautiful restaurant on property, another wonderful restaurant across the street at Keoki's in the Poipu shopping mall along with Roy's Restaurant. The Great Lawn is our favorite. You can sit there and watch the waves come in or go on down to the beach. Everyone will bring their beach chairs over to watch sunset with a glass of wine and just share in the moment. Families can enjoy the lawn with little ones as well. It's huge! The Kiahuna Golf course is also 5 minutes from our condo. GPS systems are on the carts and the course is really groomed quite nicely. Joes on the Green is a great little spot to eat as well. You can tell we are into golfing, eatting, beach time and eatting. . ..!!

Great location. Great condo.
Wonderful holiday vacation
Loved it.we will be back!
Great property and apartment
We loved apartment 233. Everything was in excellent condition, the bed super comfortable. It had been updated. The condo is in the middle of the property, with absolutely no street noise. The owner was super responsive, and included several pages of tips and recommendations which were really helpful. Highly recommend.
A relaxing piece of paradise
We loved staying here at the Kiahuna Plantation. The open concept living area had a hawaiian feel with comfortable furniture. It had all needed supplies in the kitchen and extra recreational supplies for snorkeling, boogie boards, beach chairs. The Bed was very comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and the beach is one of the best for swimming, boogie boarding, and snorkeling with easy fun waves and surfing further out. The host is very helpful recommending activities and restaurants. We were there 3 weeks and wish it had been longer.
This condo has a perfect location! The beach is great and it’s close to a lot of restaurants and activities. I would definitely stay in this area again. Unfortunately, the condo was a little dated, especially for the price we paid. We might not have noticed this as much if the weather had been nicer, but we ended up spending more time than anticipated in the condo. The living room furniture was uncomfortable! They use multiple fans with chords strung everywhere because there’s no was no air conditioning. The lights in the kitchen go off and on. The back deck get flooded by the sprinkler and if it’s not warm enough it a large puddle remains under the table so no outside dining. It was extremely loud. We were able to hear all of our neighbors. One of which woke us up every morning before 5 AM. We paid a lot for a low-budget stay.
I am sorry you did not enjoy our condo as multiple guests have before you.
The only complaint I have received on our living room furniture was in regards to the sleeper sofa mattress which was replaced by a highly upgraded one.
The lanai was completely replaced at our own cost this September and I cannot do anything about the weather in regards to a puddle.
The only cords would be the ones connecting the electronics behind our stand in the living room which is needed but will try to see if we can completely hide them.
Our cleaning lady has tried the lights you referred to and said they seem to work fine but will keep an eye on them.
You were at the Kiahuna during Thanksgiving and I am sure there were a lot of guests there and sorry they were not considerate of others.
As you can see, my calendar is always full, half of new and half of return guests that love our place and have left wonderful reviews.
Perhaps you could come when the weather is better and your stay would be more enjoyable.
Beautiful condo perfect for a couple and a baby (pack and play, high chair, beach toys available in the condo). We definitely loved it! Thanks Shauna!
Hope to have your family return, its a wonderful traditional Hawaiian setting. Thank you for your kind words.
Kiahuna golf course across the street. Shopping also across the street
