Lovely apartment, steps from the walled cite

  • 5 of 5

This apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay including a well equipped kitchen. The bath and kitchen (both on the main level) are modern, appear to be new and the entire apartment is sparkling clean. It is exactly as it appears in the photos which is not always the case with rentals. The views look out over the old city and both morning and afternoon light are quite nice. There is free parking on two adjacent streets and a large free lot three short blocks away if you should need it. Entrance to the old walled city is literally right across the street. The location could not be more convenient. The apartment is charming and welcoming and a very nice place to come home to at the end of a day spent wandering the city or exploring the Dordogne River valley towns. The nearby tourist information building has free wifi available 24 hours a day as do several local cafes. The owner, Jean-Claude, is most helpful and just a phone call away if you need anything. Don't miss the large market on Saturdays in the center of the old town. We hope to return and stay here again soon.

Great location and wonderful views

  • 4 of 5

The third floor apartment is right across the road from the old town, with great views. The living area is very comfortable, light, open and spacious. The facilities are good, with all the appliances we needed during our week-long stay. The main bedroom is in the attic and is reached by a spiral staircase. The weather while we were there was extremely hot, which meant that the bedroom was very warm, despite the noisy portable air conditioning unit provided.

Jean-Claude was very hospitable and helpful, providing many suggestions for activities and places to visit in the region.

Great location, large apartment.

  • 5 of 5

Right on the edge of the old town, this apartment is in a perfect location for visiting Sarlat, as well as touring the surrounding area by car. From the front door it's a two minute walk to the main pedestrian area, but easy to access the road out of town. The apartment itself is large, consisting of an open living space with kitchen, eating area and living room. The bedroom is up a spiral staircase, in an attic area. It's also a large floor space, but headspace is restricted by the slope of the roof. The owner, Jean-Claude, met us at the apartment on arrival, and gave us a thorough briefing on the apartment, and lots of info and suggestions on where to eat and what to do (his English is excellent). I'd recommend this apartment for a couple, maybe with a young child or two, but not for more than two adults.

Great location

  • 4 of 5

This apartment was well set up and well located for us, directly opposite the opening for the old city of Sarlat. Parking was great, only 100 metres away and free and safe. It's on the third floor so be prepared to carry yr luggage up. Jean Claude is a very accommodating host, meeting us on time and giving us lots of advice on things to do and see. We had some confusion early on in the booking process with the extras above the quoted price for linen and cleaning but that was our fault for not reading the rental info carefully enough. Jean- Claude was very patient over a number of emails explaining this for us.

Would definitely recommend for your Sarlat stay

Owner's Response: Welcome to my apartment. From outside, once you push the door, you go up 5 stairs and you are on a terrace witch is not mine, sorry :), from the outside main door the apartment is on the second floor, you'll have a view over the roofs of Sarlat witch is pleasant, i ofen propose to the customers to help them with their luggage if possible, the extras cost is for linen and cleaning but it can be adapted to your needs, it is not included in the booking on line. see you soon.

A French Gem

  • 5 of 5

This was our second trip to Sarlat having spent two weeks in 2014. We had such a good time last year and loved this apartment that we just had to have another week this year Jean Claude is a wonderful host. The apartment is clean, spacious and filled with charm and artisan flare. The kitchen is very well equipped with modern appliances and a refrigerator big enough to hold all of the wonderful market fruits, veggies, cheeses and of course wine. Jean Claude has added a new sofa bed since last year and it was very comfortable! He has mounted the shower head and there was plenty of hot water. Having wifi and a free parking area was a real plus. The location of the apartment is ideal...while one of us made coffee the other walked across the street into the town to buy our daily fresh bread. Couldn't get much better than that. This apartment is truly a home away from home. After sightseeing all day we looked forward to returning to our cozy place. Having spent a total of three weeks in Sarlat with a rental car we explored almost all of the advertised places of interest (Rick Steves book on France is a good source). The countryside is stunningly beautiful. We sampled food at many of the restaurants and enjoyed them all from omelets to foie gras and salmon. Take time to enjoy a glass of champagne in the town square and people watch. Jean Claude can direct you to a very good bakery for breads and sweets within minutes of the apartment (the baker's little boy is adorable in his little chef' apron.) Thank you Jean Claude for making our vacations so memorable. Just writing this review has made me think I want to return and linger a little longer in Sarlat and stay at this gem of an apartment
