Casa Z is your home away from home. This spacious house provides you with two nicely appointed bedrooms, each with a private bath. The master suite sleeps 2 adults and features a walk-in closet and dressing area, and a huge shower with hot water. The other bedroom has two twin beds and a standard double bed. The adjacent bathroom also has hot water in the shower. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the dishes, utensils, and cookware that you need to prepare anything from a simple breakfast to a gourmet dinner. You’ll also find a full sized range and oven, microwave, coffee maker, blender, slow cooker, and toaster. The living room is large and comfortable with two sofas. You'll spend a lot of time outside on the veranda watching the local wildlife, enjoying your favorite beverage, or just relaxing in the Adirondack chairs with a good book. Local telephone service is included, and wi-fi Internet access is provided at no additional charge.
Casa Z is located in Puerto Viejo, so you are only a hundred meters from the beach and two blocks from the great restaurants and nightlife of this quaint village. Just to the north is the popular town of Cahuita, including Cahuita National Park. And just to the south are the towns of Playa Cocles, Playa Chiquita, Punta Uva, and Manzanillo where you will find Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge. Miles of unspoiled beach await you.
There is so much to see and do in Costa Rica’s “forgotten” Atlantic coast. Whether an organized half or full day guided tour or an adventure on your own, Puerto Viejo offers a wide variety of local area tours and attractions. Whether it is walking along the beach, hiking through the jungle, surfing, snorkeling, swimming, white-water rafting, tours of butterfly and botanical gardens, wildlife sanctuaries, or just taking in the sun on the secluded and pristine beaches, you will surely find something for you.

About Tony Waddell
My very first trip to Costa Rica was on a cruise. The port of call was Limon, and I was so impressed, I thought if I ever retire, Costa Rica would be the place I'd want to call home. When I finally did retire, I moved to Costa Rica and fell in love with the Caribbean coast. I purchased land in Puerto Viejo and eventually built Casa del Zorro, which later became Casa Zorro, and now just Casa Z. I hope you love the area, and enjoy my home, which I happily share with you.
Tony Waddell purchased this House in 2000
Why Tony Waddell chose Puerto Viejo de Talamanca
The Caribbean coast of Costa Rica is so rich in diversity with miles of unspoiled and uncrowded beaches. While certainly not remote and isolated, it is refreshing to visit a coastline that is unmarred with high-rise hotels and all-inclusive resorts. The area is stunningly beautiful, and the people are very friendly and helpful.
What makes this House unique
Staying in a private home is so much better than checking into a hotel that you may not be familiar with. And the house is so close to the beach as well as to the stores, restaurants, and shops. It is literally a 2 minute walk to the beach and a 5 minute walk to the center of town. The owner lives in Costa Rica and the property is professionally managed, providing you with the best service possible.

Nice location, great space, well equipped kitchen, very secure. Tv, phone were provided- nice touch.
Had a great time in Casa Z. Tony sent very detailed descriptions to get into the property. Things were very clean, good space in the house (lots of furniture) and nice patio setting. Very well equipped kitchen (better than we expected). Nice to have a washer and dryer for clothes. Had wonderful beach towels provided as well. They had thought of everyone..... candles & matches in case of power outage....... We all were very pleased we chose Casa Z. The small problem was the termites eating the wood in the 2 nd bedroom and the dust fell through the mosquito netting onto us when sleeping. After we moved the double bed to another location in the room it was good. Thanks, Tony for setting up the house so well.
Large and well appointed
The house is large enough for 4 adults and the kitchen is well equipped for normal cooking needs. Its a Costa Rican home so understand that a 4 or 5 star rating does not mean the deluxe finishes that you might expect in North America or Europe. That said, it is very comfortable and well located on a side street within easy walking distances of downtown PV. The downsides aren't Casa Z's fault, but they may be your problem. The neighbour's dogs bark at all hours of the day and night so bring earplugs if that will be an issue for you. Similarly, music from the local clubs can be heard until the early hours. Those earplugs will come in handy for that as well! Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay at Casa Z and would go back again (with earplugs).
The house was nice, well maintained and served us well
We were pleased and would stay there again
A Wonderful Place to Stay
We enjoyed our 3-weeks stay at Casa Z. 4 adults were comfortably and safe accommodated. We loved this house and the garden. There was everything you could want. A perfect location to stay close to town and short bike rides to the beaches.
The house was well kept by the property manager, who responded quickly and adequately when we called about a few issues. We also enjoyed the house cleaning service once a week and to have a washer /dryer in the house was also very useful.
Thanks a lot! We would definitely stay at Casa Z again.
We stayed at Casa Z from Sept 30th to Oct 7th. There was 4 of us (2 18 year olds) Casa Z was perfect and fit our needs perfectly. Casa Z is super close to town and surroundings so walking or renting bikes are the best options. Casa Z is clean, spacious and very safe. The owner is great and always available by email and gets right back to you if he is contacted. Check in and out is a breeze it was so nice to arrive to Casa Z and have everything expected from prior communication. This was our first time in the country so we did not know what to expect, but everything was perfect. I would not hesitate to stay at Casa Z the next time I travel to PV and highly recommend Casa Z for your stay.
Thank you to Casa Z for making our stay absolutely perfect!
I'm so glad you enjoyed yourselves. Your kind words are very appreciated. I always try to be available and respond to questions as quickly as possible. You folks were great renters and I'd be happy to have you back someday!
Tony Waddell, owner
My friends and I had the most wonderful vacation at Casa Z! It was very spacious and comfortable for the four of us. The owner was very responsive with our reservation process and the management company went the extra mile when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the house AND the safe! The home has everything you could want and the location is primo!! I totally recommend Casa Z and will stay there on my next visit to Puerto Viejo!
