Peaceful and Quiet with Great Birding + Sunrise/Sunsets
Wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of fast pace living. John is the owner (we didn't communicate with Steve but once). We couldn't be more pleased with John's ability to communicate and respond. He is most dependable and reliable. On time, gracious, straight forward and courteous. An 11 out of 10. We believe this comes first. He gave us a full tour of where everything was, fans, remotes, Internet and so on. In addition to the above, John had a large bowl (yes large) of fresh fruit in the Kitchen. The house has pretty much everything you'd desire. Pillows and beds were super comfortable. Slept like a baby. John has also fresh filtered water at sink and a water dispenser. If you enjoy birding, this is a Great place - here's a quick list: Crissal Thrasher (M and F), White-throated Swifts, Black-throated Sparrows (about 6), Greater Roadrunner at his front door (one morning), Sage Thrasher, Black-chinned Hummingbirds right in the back yard, Northern Cardinals, Gray Flycatcher, etc..I birded every day around the property and below his property. Food tip: If heading north on I-17, get your groceries at Basha's off Exit 287 in Camp Verde as John recommended. Send John a text when you are leaving and meet him off Exit 293 at the McGuireville MiniMart about 10-15 mins after. His place is "not" on Google Earth (yeah, that's incredible). He guided us patiently and slowly up to his home on his motorbike (it was dark when we got into town). Most of the tar road is a bit rough outside of the short/narrow tunnel but no big deal just keep a slow even pace. The last two roads are Outlaw Way and Lazy Bones Trail Rd, they are dirt. We had an SUV so no issues. Just note, if it rains hard, that red clay mud can be a bit slippery as it can fill your tire treads. No big deal for us but small cars may have an issue so Rent an SUV..it's well worth it. This is country, remote living. if you require a Hilton with maids and service at your feet this is not for you. If you enjoy natural desert beauty and great sunrises and sunsets away from it all, then book this place. And PS the neighbors were all most friendly. One guy drove down his driveway just to say hello and chit chat.
We could NOT have chosen a more perfect location as 'home base for our trip to Sedona. John met us at the gas station, where we followed him to his home atop a hill where we watched the sun rise every morning and set every evening. He had a huge bowl of fresh fruit awaiting us in a house that could not be more perfect or centrally located to everything. Yes, there is a dirt road, but the amenities and home far outweigh the bit of dust. Would love to return someday. I rate this a 5-star VRBO rental.
Wonderful! We really liked it!
We had a nice stay and would recommend it to others!
Rimrock AZ House
The home was very comfortable, private and relaxing. The location is quiet and peaceful. The only sound comes from nearby ranchers' animals. I enjoyed sitting outside and watching the hummingbirds. The metal artwork was great and makes the home unique. The owner was very accommodating and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The dirt roads up to the house are a bit rough in spots for a small car but we drove slowly and had no problems.
Out in the country but close to everything!
We really enjoyed out stay at this beautiful home. Everything went smoothly with Steven during the booking and with John when he showed us around his beautiful home. His metal work is extraordinary and added so much to our stay. The house is on top of hill, so you can see 360 degrees and yet the neighbors are close by so no feeling of being too far out. The road many said was bad we found easily manageable in our small SUV, and we noticed that John drove a small sedan with no problems either. You just have to drive slowly and there are a few little bumps, but that is all, nice and wide and well maintained.Everything you want is in the house and John encouraged us to "look around, its probably here and you can use it" including shampoo in the bathroom!!! Beds are comfortable, sheets and blankets good quality. Our son and daughter in law live in Sedona and many times the hotel prices there are just astronomical, so this will be our go to place in the future. One suggestion in the kitchen, Move some of the stuff in the stand alone cabinet into the cabinet above the sink and move the dishes and glasses from over the sink into there. They would be move accessible that way. I used a long landed spoon to take down a few glasses and just left them on the counter for our stay. Was very careful, but could have easily broken them. Could not have reached the wine glasses without a step stool. I am 5'7" with what my mom describes as "arms like an ape", a taller person could probably reach the glasses but I could not. Oh and that reminds me, the dishes were beautfiul, it was a pleasure to dine on them. Just a very nice place to stay, with everything you need and where you immediately feel at home. you are 20 minutes from Sedona, 20 minutes another way from Cottonwood and about the same from Camp Verde. Thank you Joh,, Karen for being so welcoming and Steven for processing everything so quickly!
Peace and quiet
We enjoyed our stay very much. The house is situated on a hill and somewhat private. There are other houses in the immediate area but you get the sense of privacy while there. The house itself was lovely. The owner is a metal artist and his work is displayed both inside and outside. The only thing you would need to bring if staying there is food. The kitchen has every appliance and cooking essential and is stocked with paper goods as well.
We met the owner, John, at the mini mart in town and followed him to the house where he gave us the tour. I see where others commented about the road. There is a long “primitive” road to get to the house. It is, by all means, drivable. It is not what you would be accustomed to if you live in the city but it should not deter you from staying here.
We took advantage of the National parks in the area and made the short drive to Sedona as well. I will certainly recommend this house to family and friends who are looking for a quiet getaway.
