HALE MAHANA (a restful and hospitable home) is located at the geographical center of Oahu's idyllic North Shore. Experience a taste of 'Old Hawaii' flanked by the legendary shores of Waimea Bay, Banzai Pipeline, and Sunset Beach. This small section of coast with rock, sand, and coral outcrops, is so spectacular it has been protected by the State of Hawaii as a Marine Life Conservation Area. THE HOUSE has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and an elevated porch with sweeping ocean and sunset views. You will immediately relax in an open airy floorplan. Enjoy the stereo, and cable-equipped big screen TV with DVD. The fully appointed kitchen has granite countertops and facing barstools so you can talk with family and friends as you open a bottle of wine, prepare gourmet meals, or simply throw burgers on the BBQ. The master suite has a king size bed; second bedroom has a queen; and the third has two single beds.

CENTRALLY LOCATED. If you've been to the North Shore before, you'll know why return visitors want to stay in this neighborhood. Snorkeling at Shark's Cove is a 3 minute walk. Breathtaking Ke Iki beach is a 4 minute walk. We are at the south end of a 3 mile bike path which takes you past Pipeline (1 mi.), and Sunset Beach (2 mi.) In the morning, walk 2 blocks along the bike path to Starbucks, or stop at the adjacent Foodland Supermarket.

Drive south for 10 minutes and you find quaint and historic Haleiwa Town with its many restaurants, art galleries, and surf shops. Go north 10 minutes for world class golf at Turtle Bay Resort, or continue around the point to the windward side of the island and the Polynesian Cultural Center. As you explore this part of Oahu, you'll see why locals call the North Shore 'Country,' but driving time to Honolulu Airport is only 45 minutes, and Waikiki is 1 hour.

About The Owner

Aloha friends. Thanks for having a look and I think you'll really like the North Shore. I thought the beach where I grew up in San Clemente California was the best ever – that is until I came here. Now I make 2-3 trips per year. A typical day would be to walk to Starbucks, walk by Shark’s Cove; check snorkeling; walk, jog, or ride up the bike path; chores – lot’s of home maintenance when you’re by the ocean; go to the beach – biggest decision – which beach; relax at home; have a cocktail on the lanai and watch the sunset. Mahalo.

Why The Owner chose North Shore Oahu

The reason I bought a home in Hawaii is largely attributed to my cousin who moved here when he became director of protected species for NOAA, and led conservation efforts for the Monk Seal and the Honu. All those years he was telling me about the magic of the North Shore. Then his son married a Hawaiian girl and they hosted a week's worth of festivities on the North Shore from Waimea Bay to Sunset Beach. After experiencing the beaches, beauty, and Aloha Spirit firsthand, I was hooked. Soon this home came available and my cousin went there and became my eyes and ears as we talked on the phone. After an hour of detailed communications, I made an offer and bought the house virtually sight unseen! It turned out to be the best move I've ever made and family, friends, and guests have been enjoying it ever since.

What makes this house unique

The best things about the property are the setting (quiet - set back off the highway); view of Shark’s Cove and Pupukea Marine Sanctuary; and perfect location – you can go to Shark’s Cove for snorkeling, walk to several beaches, or walk to Starbucks for coffee!

Perfect location for relaxation

The house was comfortable, and perfectly situated for walking distance to the grocery store, good food trucks, different beaches (rocky, snorkely, and sandy). It was also nice to be away from the heavy traffic of the city! The city moves slowly, really forces you to relax! This location has beautiful sunsets, beautiful stars, beautiful beaches, AND it's close to the best spots! Hale'Iwa, Turtle Bay, and not to forget that it's right on Shark's Cove! There was plenty of snorkeling gear already there, boogie boards, water shoes, umbrellas, outdoor shower, a bbq grill, a nice terrace, and a great porch. i would recommend this place to anyone who just has to get away from daily life stress.

Sharks Cove Heaven

Nick's house at Sharks Cove was perfect for our family of 4 adults. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and so close to all the local activities and fun, including Foodland and the food trucks. We had an amazing time staying at Sharks Cove, especially snorkeling with the local fish and turtles straight of the beautiful clear water off the rocks.

The house had everything we needed, except for a kettle, but the coffee machine worked a treat. There was ample snorkeling gear, including shoes, boogie boards, chairs etc.

We loved our stay and would happily come back again.

Couldn't ask for more!

If you are a fan of the North Shore, then you have found your perfect vacation home! This house is at a great location, and convenient to everything. Nick hasn't missed a beat with providing all the amenities you could possibly need, from a fully-stocked kitchen, to all the beach necessities, and even bikes. We loved the outdoor patio area as well as the spacious layout of the house. Writing this review makes me long to go back!

Great location and beautiful views!

We had not spent much time on the North Shore and we were very pleased with this house. The location is amazing and easy to walk to many things. You are literally steps from the shore/ocean and have access to the top snorkeling spot on the island at Shark's Cove. The bikes that are at the house make it extremely easy to get anywhere along the North Shore coast. Foodland and a bunch of food trucks are walking distance from the house as well. We enjoyed multiple sunsets and rainbows from the upper balcony. The neighborhood is very quiet but also easily accessible from the main road. The layout of the house is great as well as the recent upgrades including curtains, bedding, and furniture. The kitchen is fully stocked and we were not missing anything from breakfast to dinner. House has a great car garage with outdoor shower (with heated water). We had a very relaxing trip and would highly recommend this location to anyone looking to stay on the North Shore. Thank you so much.

Nice location and neighborhood

Being on the Northshore, we were not optimistic on what we were to find with this property. It was a nice quiet location with just the sounds of the ocean and not the busy road. The house offered fans and sliding doors throughout so that there was no need for air conditioning. The kitchen offered a huge array of cooking utinsels, storage bowls, dinnerware and cups and glasses. Therer were multitudes of towels for the shower and the beach. Boogie boards and bikes were available as well as sand toys for the kids. We really enjoyed eating on the deck as well as going up to the top deck to read and enjoy the sun. We had a couple of items that needed tending to and we emailed Nick and he made sure it was taken care of immediately and made sure we were happy and satisfied. Even our 30somethings with us found this a great place to stay cue to the proximity of snorkeling, beach going, running, nightlife(Turtle Bay is not far), we also loved being walking distance of the grocery store and the 8or so local food trucks with amazing food near Shark's Cove. We would definately consider this property again in the future when going to the northshore of Oahu.
