About Lindsay Arnell
Rose Cottage is owned by husband and wife Steve and Lindsay who live in the neighbouring county of Staffordshire. We have always loved visiting and walking in the Peak District. We have another holiday cottage in the Peak District and take enormous pride in offering high quality holiday accommodation to our guests. Unless unavoidable, we always welcome you personally to the cottage and we are on hand to offer advice on the local area and to respond to any events needing immediate attention. As dog owners ourselves, we don't believe that you should have to compromise on the quality and comfort of your accommodation in order to bring your dog with you on holiday. We look forward to welcoming you to Rose Cottage.

Why Lindsay Arnell chose Hartington Nether Quarter
From our own experience as guests staying in cottages and latterly as holiday cottage owners, we knew exactly what we wanted for our second holiday cottage. Our criteria was simple but surprisingly difficult to find. The cottage had to: - be in the National Park - be within walking distance of a good "foodie" pub or restaurant - have its own private garden for our guests to enjoy - and have its own parking so that you don't have to spend your precious holiday time hunting for a space for your car. We are proud to offer all this at Rose Cottage and we think it's the perfect place for you to unwind and relax.
What makes this Cottage unique
Rose Cottage is conveniently located in the quiet village of Biggin yet only a short distance from the amenities of Hartington, Ashbourne and Buxton. Biggin is perfectly located to explore the Dove and Manifold valleys, the Tissington and High Peak Trails and the renowned National Trust Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty of Dovedale. Within 300 yards of Rose Cottage is the village pub The Waterloo Inn serving excellent lunch and evening food and a wide selection of real ales, ciders, lagers and wines. Also within 300 yards of Rose Cottage is the 17th Century country house hotel of Biggin Hall offering lunches, afternoon teas and evening dining.

Idyllic charming cottage
It was lovely to be greeted by Lindsay, she was a walking encyclopaedia on where to walk, cycle, etc. The welcome pack was first class as were all the little extras in the cottage. The village was perfect for accessing the Tissington trail to cycle.
The walking trails were beautiful especially Dovedale. As we walked through the many villages we commented on how pretty they were and so well kept. This was our first visit to the area it certainly won't be the last.
A lovely little cottage in a fab little village! All the little extras were so welcome and helped make our stay that much nicer !

The charming rural village of Biggin is situated perfectly for exploring the Dove and Manifold valleys within the Peak District National Park. The village was founded in the 13th century and is a scattered stone-built village with a church, a lovely pub serving good food and Biggin Hall Restaurant. Biggin is close to a national nature reserve, the wonderful National Trust owned Dovedale and the Tissington Trail, with excellent access for all for walking and cycling. The well known village of Hartington is close by, offering a good selection of shops and amenities, including the award famous Hartington Cheese and Wine Company producing and selling a wide range of delicious cheeses. The whole area is a paradise for walking, cycling and horse riding. The famous spa town of Buxton with its fabulous opera house has an array of shops and bars and is just a 20 minute drive away, while the antique searcher’s paradise of Ashbourne is also an easy drive away in the opposite direction. Visit Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, or take a trip to Alton Towers for a fun-filled day out. Biggin is perfectly placed for exploring the whole Peak District.
