Such a peaceful, remote cottage with everything needed for a relaxing holiday!

  • 5 of 5

Had a great week with family in this comfortable & welcoming cottage. If you're after peace, tranquility & relaxation, this is perfect.

The track from the road is steep & narrow, so care needs to be taken. Rarely encounter other vehicles though, so don't let this put you off. Property location is amazing! Surrounded by forest, stream, soaring buzzards, hares, wild orchids & much more.

Cottage has all mod cons & is lovely. Great downstairs shower as well as an upstairs bathroom. Didn't need to use any heating, but the logburners would be ideal in cooler weather. Also central heating if needed. Good sized kitchen with all we needed.

Not far to Machynlleth by car, beautiful to walk there via the Welsh Coastal path, 6 miles each way.

Would highly recommend this property to couples or families who like to get away from the hustle & bustle of modern life.

Truly a Wilderness Retreat

  • 5 of 5

'Wilderness Retreat' does exactly what it says on the tin - a peaceful retreat in a magical woodland setting. The perfect place to allow your senses to expand and absorb the natural world without noise pollution from traffic or light pollution at night. The house itself is the best we've stayed in - clean, warm and homely with the added luxury of hi-tech creature comforts and a fantastic shower.

Lovely holiday in a wonderful setting.

  • 5 of 5

This is really a magical place. As we drove up the long track to the property we really became excited as to what we would find at the end and this lovely cottage didn't disappoint. It's a very beautiful cottage full of character with lovely gardens and a sense of peace all around.

We are a family group ranging from 7 months to grandparents in their 70 s and I can honestly say we all had a wonderful time. The rope swing was a real favourite with the boys, and my 3 year old really liked to look out for the wild horses. Although it's in a wonderful secluded woodland spot it's just a short drive to the beach. We would love to return here again in the future.

Amazing serene setting bot inside and outside - almost retreat like

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful stay, the transition of shaking of the woes and hassles of busy daily lives started as we set up the track, winding through ancient woodlands and flowing waterfalls and streams. The cottage is wonderful, and has such a good feel about it - comfortable, welcoming and well - a home away from home - plenty of space to come together as a family but also to chill out separately as needed - plenty of space for a family of four (with two teenagers)

The grounds are vast, serene and exciting to explore. The front door was open whilst we were in, and our dogs (3 of them) were happy to wonder and we felt safe to let them. The surrounding areas are accessible (with sturdy walking boots and a good amount of will power), the wild ponies look on as if to say 'hi' and we were able to see small herds with foals both in the hillside but also in the fields at the end of the drive. It was truly amazing to be able to see hares as well racing across the fields. The night sky was absolutely breathtaking and so wonderful to be able to experience without any light pollution.

I cannot praise this cottage enough, the personal touch and welcome from Marek was sincere and really helped us to relax into probably one of the best weeks away that we have had in a long time. We are already looking to rebook for next year, and if it were available during winter months I would be looking to stay for a silent retreat.

Truly amazing!
