This was a beautiful home in a very quiet area and was a great retreat for our group.
Stunning house with easy access to New River Gorge adventures
Our group of four adults and four kids had a terrific time exploring the New River Gorge area while staying at this architecturally stunning and comfortable property. The online photos are beautiful, but they really do not do the property justice. Beyond beautiful, the house is exceptionally comfortable and really thoughtfully outfitted. It was a relaxing landing pad between adventures in the New River Gorge. Hiking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, swimming, and boating on Summersville Lake were all easily accessible from the property. In between, the well-equipped kitchen's open plan and gorgeous views make cooking for a crowd enjoyable. The kids enjoyed movies on the big screen in the living room and s'mores on the back deck fireplace. Just out the back door, we found excellent hiking with beautiful views.
Excellent house within sight of the New River Gorge Bridge
The house itself is visually and architecturally stunning. We never tired of the views from the deck. The owners should really add more pictures because the current ones simply do not effectively convey the outside or main living area features. We are a cooking family and the kitchen was stocked with everything we could think to need, including a home espresso machine. The house was among the cleanest we have ever stayed in. We could not even find dust in the corners. For us, the only drawbacks with the house are the lack of a 1/2 bath on the main living area (this was easily remedied, but a noticeable challenge due to the dynamics of our group) and the lack of any window coverings on 2 of the bedrooms (due to close hiking trails, we would have preferred them). The location is within minutes of the New River Gorge's visitors' center and 20 minutes from Summersville Lake Marine (where we rented a brand-new boat for a day!). We highly recommend the "Country Thai" restaurant which is less than 2 miles from the house. A hidden gem in the mountains of WV. We also rafted with Cantrell Family rafting and had an awesome experience. They are the only family-owned rafting company in the area.
The Cliff House is a beautiful house and the view is incredible. I highly recommend this rental property for vacation or fun weekend get away!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was cold and snowy during our stay, but we didn't mind a bit. Had everything we needed in this beautiful home. Hope to come back again!
Inside our community are 10+ miles of hiking/biking trails along the border of the New River National Park and our trails connect with the national park trails. We also have a pond for fishing/canoeing, a park with bocce court and grass area, several scenic overlooks and community fire pits. We are less than a half mile from Adventures on the Gorge who will help you set up any number of outdoor activities: rafting, climbing, canopy zip lines. Adventures on the Gorge also has 3 great restaurants, a playground and very nice pool. Their campus is a great place to find food and entertainment without having to drive. Just a few miles away though is the town of Fayetteville with great restaurants like Pies and Pints for local pizza and beer or the Secret Sandwich Society for hand crafted sandwiches and burger.
