Overview

About the property

Don't go by its country appearances! Behind its stone walls and bucolic rosebushes, this pretty Tours house offers all the comfort of a main residence; a very complete equipment ensures you to benefit during your holidays from the same facilities than at your house (household appliance, WiFi, HD TV). The charm of this old house will however provide you with a pleasant change of scenery. A wide bay opens the living room on the outside and allows fully enjoying the garden: the south-facing terrace, sheltered by a large bower, is the privileged place for summer meals.

Young children and pets will be safe there: fenced garden, stairs protected by a wrought-iron fence, forbidding the access.

Quiet guaranteed: the house is located in a hamlet of houses and ancient farms that all have a good distance between each other. Peaceful location.

A huge asset: its very central position in the heart of the Loire Valley Castles area and the Parc régional Anjou-Touraine

Notes:
This authentic Tours house offers a travel back in time (thick exposed stone walls, terracotta floors and wooden floors, beams, white tufa fireplace) while being equipped with the modern needs of today: Complete and recent household appliance; dishwasher, kitchenware, bed linen in perfect state; HD TV, mini stereo system, WiFi, central heating, books, CD, magazines and documentation about the region available; outside, garden furniture and barbecue. Its huge asset: tranquillity! The large front shows the rest of the house (on the extreme right on the main photo), 2 annex buildings (barn in the middle and 18th century dwelling on the left, still being restored) that are used as storage rooms and are not occupied. Therefore, the garden keeps its privacy. The whole opens on a little country road, used by some hamlet residents.

Charming house, close to many Loire chateaux

  • 4 of 5

Spent two weeks July/August 2017. Lovely quiet house with enclosed garden, perfect for small dog. Nearest town Azay-le-Rideau is a couple of kilometres away and has its own important chateau, well-worth a visit. Boulangerie for morning baguettes in Cheillé is about 1km distance. Lots of other chateaux (Ussé, d'Islette, Chinon) not too far, plus Tours is worth a visit. Good farmers market in Langeais on a Sunday. We enjoyed the tranquillity of the house and the proximity of chateaux. House is comfortable and well equipped with 2 bedrooms and facilities to cook. Nice table for eating outside as well as dining area inside the kitchen.

Beautiful house in a tranquil setting

  • 5 of 5

Anne's house is beautifully decorated and has absolutely everything you would need. It is a very quiet place but close to the lovely town of Azay-le-rideau, with restaurants, shops and the chateau where renovations are almost complete. Anne is the perfect host, she lives

next door but is very discrete and also stresses she is available if any help is needed.

The photos of the property hardly do it justice. Well equipped, beautifully presented, comfortable. Anne made us feel very welcomed. The location is ideal for exploring all the Loire Valley has to offer.

Anne has decorated this property beautifully and we enjoyed our stay very much. It is located in a quiet village and is a delightful retreat after a day exploring this spectacular part of France.

Highly recommended.

A really gorgeous house with a lovely mature garden

  • 5 of 5

Anne's house is truly lovely, furnished with interesting french collectibles and paintings. On arrival we found everything we needed, lovely crisp linen and lots of tea towels and bath towels for our two week stay. The living area comes with a stunning open fire which we lit on a number of nights and in the kitchen there is another fireplace which we lit the odd time for long dinners. In the kitchen you will find everything a cook could want and we cooked a lot. Upstairs the rooms are light and airy and the bed is low but very comfortable. We lazed about with the windows open most mornings and our little dog slept in the hallway outside where he was very happy. The location is excellent and we went to Azay le Rideau by foot one day but in the car most others to just have a wander, a coffee and some amazing biscuits or a drink in the bbar on the square. The Chateau itself is well worth a visit and if you really want to be blown away Villandry is only 20 minutes away. Azay has a lot for a little town in the Loire, a number of excellent restaurants and little shops and cafes to keep you busy. Tours is also less then 30 mins away, if you go do not miss the amazing food market and the Jardins which are stunning. I would recommend Anne's house for a couple or a couple with children. The stairs is well protected for toddlers and the garden is safe and secure. All in all a gem of a house in a special part of France.

Everything we imagined it would be!

  • 5 of 5

Charming, spacious, superbly equipped and decorated ... we were looking for a traditional home and quiet space and this fit the bill perfectly! Having utilized VRBO on several occasions, I can tell you that most places we have used have been "functional" but Ann's cottage was outfitted like a home with beautiful accents and every amenity. The only drawback would be the lack of a true shower, as we are all tall people and climbing in and out of the bathtub was a bit challenging - but for families, the large bath would work well. We just really couldn't have made a better choice for our vacation in the Loire Valley!
