Brook Cottage sleeps 5 Mrs Tiggywinkle sleeps 2
Our family have had many happy holidays on the isle of Wight over the years visiting family and creating fond memories along the way, and our intention is to retire there one day. Currently, we are not yet at that stage and fully understand how a holiday break is appreciated in a nice environment when we all have such a busy lifestyle . We have previously owned another property on the island , but fell in love with these two pretty cottages and thought we would like to share them with you so you can enjoy them as much as we do .
Rosie purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Rosie chose Shalfleet
Peace and quiet is a joy at this property, however, you are only a short distance from the sea in any direction you take from the cottages . If you enjoy walking, cycling or just driving around the island you can appreciate its beauty and you are not far to come back home for the evening to a cosy cottage.
What makes this Cottage unique
Each cottage has its own character . Distinguished previous owners of the cottages include historical novelist Margaret Campbell-Barnes who wrote "Mary of Carisbrooke" whilst there, Island artist Ronald Power lived in Brook Cottage for many years and used Mrs Tiggywinkles as his studio, and in the 18th Century a laundry lady ( the old washer woman) used to live in the little cottage and did all the laundry for the locals , hence how the cottage was named "Mrs Tiggywinkle " when you have stayed in either or both cottages on leaving you also leave a smile behind !!

Like living in a storybook!
Since I was 13, I've wanted to rent a cottage on the Isle of Wight when I turned 64 (thank you, Paul McCartney). I had no idea Brook Cottage was waiting for me! The charm factor is over the top, with some adorable little delicacy in every nook within. We imagined all the history of this well-located little Shangri-la, and were delighted with the amenities and attention to detail everywhere. As old-fashioned as it is, it is also quite modern with a dishwasher, washer and wi-fi! It is located in the peaceful, rural countryside (don't miss the West Wight Alpacas!) but everything is within driving distance, from the magnificent Osborne House to the picturesque and haunting Needles, homey little Yarmouth to idyllic Godshill and breathtaking Shanklin. The Horse and Groom Pub is not to be missed! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Rosie, for making my dreams come true.
Hello Debi . Thank you so very much for your lovely review and I am so glad you had a wonderful time staying at Brook cottage and visiting the beautiful Isle of Wight . I am also glad my magic wand worked its magic for you on this occasion . Kind Regards
excellent property in one of the loveliest parts of the isle of wight
the garden is a real sun trap in the afternoon and the cottage has a real homely feel
Thank you for your lovely comment . I do hope you enjoyed your stay and you will consider returning at some point in the future
Amazing and lovely character cottage.
Really enjoyed our time in cottage, lots of character, good kitchen equipment and great quite location. Would come back.
A Picture Postcard Property!
Just returned from a 7 night stay. It was absolutely delightful. Everything you could want and very quiet, even though the main road is outside. A gorgeous property, so much so that we want to return again next year! The only point that should be made is that in both properties the staircase is very narrow and winding and therefore for anyone who is frail or mobility issues may struggle with this, however there is a double bedroom downstairs. Thank you for sharing your property with us!
Cramped due to too much stuff
Lovely cottage but too many ornaments and clutter
Hello Thank you for your comments . I am sorry that the cottage decor was not to your taste . As it is a cottage I have tried to decorate and equip it with everything that makes a holiday home enjoyable and easy for those that stay.
Character Cottage Holiday
What a beauty! Full of period character and charm in a superb, quiet location (but with a good bus service handy). Interesting spiral staircase, but loads of room for eating and relaxing. All mod cons to hand, mixed nicely with exposed beams and a wood-burning stove. Snug and comfortable, in excellent order throughout, with a lovely garden at the rear, just perfect for al fresco breakfasts and an afternoon's relaxing in the sunshine.
Hello Sorry for late response to your very kind words. I am glad you enjoyed staying at brook cottage and hopefully you may consider it again in the future . Glad to hear of satisfied comments
The needles is just over a couple of miles away and can be seen from higher ground a couple hundred yards away
The address of the cottages is
