About the property

2 bedroom, sleeps 6 house with enclosed garden. Ideal for families and surfers.

Hufflepuff in Porthtowan is a perfect location for families and surfers. The dunes are ideal for children to play on with a park for younger children. The beach itself is fantastic for surfing and body boarding and in peak seasons it is supervised by lifeguards. The mermaid pool is accessible as the tide goes out and is perfect for splashing around in. The stream and rock pools on the beach provide plenty of entertainment for children. For those who enjoy walking the house is on the costal path and a walk to Chapelporth can be rewarded with lunch in the café there. The Blue Bar in Porthtowan is an excellent location to have a drink or a meal and has fantastic views of the beach; perfect for watching the sunset in the evening. Porthtowan has its own Ice Cream Parlour 'The Moomaid' which, sells delicious ice-cream and is well worth trying. The Beach Café in Porthtowan also sells great food during the day. The house itself has an enclosed garden at the rear which is a sun trap on sunny days whilst keeping the wind at bay. The house's proximity to the beach makes it easy to wander from the house down to the beach in your wet suit ready to enjoy the waves for the day.

About Kate Stanton

We are a family of 4 who love everything Porthtowan has to offer. Dan loves to tackle the challenge of the waves on his kayak whilst Kate loves the exhilaration body boarding provides. Emma, 12 years old loves to jump over and dive through all the waves whilst Luke, 11 years old is learning how to surf. Watching the sunset over the horizon in the evening is beautiful and we all enjoy watching it either sat on the beach or from The Blue Bar.

Why Kate Stanton chose Porthtowan

Porthtowan has a very special place in our hearts and we feel very fortunate to become the owners of a home in the village. We love the location because of its proximity to the beach making it easy to take kayaks, surf boards and body boards to the sea. It is easy to watch the kids playing in the dunes or the park from the home so they can be independent but as parents we know they are safe because we can see them easily. Porthtowan is a small village so the ice cream parlour, shop and restaurants are all close without being intrusive. We describe it as the perfect triangle, home, sea, pub!

What makes this house unique

The proximity to a fantastic beach with incredible waves.

Great little property and location in lovely little village

  • 5 of 5

The house was spotlessly clean and had every we needed for our week long stay.

Patio and BBQ out the back was a nice surprise and great for soaking up the afternoon sun.

Location is great, a stones throw from the beach, pub, cafe, beauty place (important for the girls) and village shop. We arranged a Tescos shopping delivery for Sunday morning but in hindsight didn't really need to.

Lifeguards on the beach were very informative and proactive about swimmer/surfer safety.

Everyone is very friendly and amiable in Porthtowan and happy to help or give directions.

Weather was varied but took advantage of damp days with trips to St.Ives (25 minute drive) and the Eden project (45 minute drive).

Would recommend to friends family up to 5 people (although the house could accommodate 6)

Immaculate cottage in a splendid location

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage ideally situated very close to the beach. Porthtowan is a small and unspoilt beach. The surf is amazing to watch and join in, if that's your thing. Excellent holiday had by all.

Fantastic cottage, ideal lcation

  • 5 of 5

Had a fabulous week in this cottage which has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. Could not have asked for better location so close to the beach , that you could leave the sea and be in the shower in less than 5 minutes. Porthtowan has beautiful beach, walks and fantastic blue bar , where you can sit and watch some amazing surfers enjoy local beer and appetising food. Hopefully we will be back

Wonderful house, wonderful location, wonderful amenities, fantastic communication with the owners

  • 5 of 5

We have just had a wonderful two week stay!

The house was perfect for the three of us, (although plenty roomy for the advertised space for 6 people!)

You are less than a minutes walk away from feeling the sand in your toes on the beach! It's really that close! Porthtowan is a fantastic little beach, with our favourite little bar in the entire world at your doorstep (The Blue Bar)

The house is warm (given we were there for Christmas and New Year)

The mattresses and bedding are wonderful quality!

The kitchen is fully stocked with good quality amenities!

Fast broadband is provided as well as a brilliant selection of games and books for families!

Before we arrived I emailed the owners and asked if it were possible to have a little Christmas tree in the house, given Santa still has to visit our son! We were blown away with the massive, lovely tree they organised for us!

I also had various ups and downs with trying to pinpoint an actual day of arrival with my husbands work commitments after booking! I was very annoying with my emails here and there, having to change my mind. But I honestly felt like no bother to the owners!

I cannot recommend this little place highly enough! Book it! You won't be disappointed!

Perfectly positioned at the beach, Hufflepuff has everything you need for a great family holiday

  • 5 of 5

Great house, opposite the sand dunes which meant the kids could safely play with a little bit of freedom while I could keep an eye on them from the house. We had everything we needed and plenty of space in the house for a family of 5.

We explored Cornwall and discovered there's no reason to venture out of Porthtowan which has everything you need for a super family beach holiday - great waves for body boarding, beach for barbecues, coastal walks, bar and restaurant, and of course the much visited ice cream shop. Hoping to return next year!
