Mojacar is about 10 minutes away by car and also provides a variety of restaurants and bars as well as clubs for those looking for a more lively night life.
Vera town is located about 5 kilometres inland. The town has many interesting buildings dating back to the 16th century, such as the church, the convent building (now used as an exhibition centre). The old bullring is also open to visitors. There are plenty of places to have a coffee, snack, or meals.
Cuevas de Almanzora is also worth a visit. It has a castle which houses a museum and an art gallery.

The Andalucia region
The province of Almeria is located in the south-eastern coast of Spain in the region of Andalucia. This region is known for having the highest hours of sunshine (an annual average of 3,000 hours) and lowest rainfall in Europe.
All this allows visitors to enjoy the beautiful weather together with the many unspoilt beaches that cover this coastline for miles.
As you head inland, the landscape is mountainous and arid. Numerous spaghetti westerns were filmed in Almería. Some of the sets are still there. These sets are located in the desert of Tabernas. The town and region were also used by David Lean in Lawrence of Arabia (1962).
One of Almería's most famous natural spots is the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park. This park is of volcanic origin, and is the largest and most ecologically significant marine-terrestrial space in the European Western Mediterranean Sea. With one of the most beautiful and ecologically rich coasts of the western Mediterranean and an area of 380 square kilometres it is one of Spain’s natural jewels. The Cabo de Gata Natural Park runs through the municipal areas of Níjar, Almería and Carboneras. Its villages, previously dedicated to fishing, have become tourism spots for those interested in nature. One of the greatest attractions of the Cabo de Gata Natural Park is its beaches.
Whilst you are here on holiday there is plenty to see and do. The caves of Sorbas are quite unique and there are 3 levels of cave walking to enjoy. The historic palace castle of the Alcazaba de Almeria is a must to see. The castle of Los Velezes in the north of the province in Velez Blanco is also worth a visit. There are numerous galleries and museums across Almeria with a permanent gallery in the Castle of Cuevas del Almanzora. Many of the inhabitants of Almeria once lived in caves, evidence of which can be seen all over the province. The Aquarium in Roquetas de Mar is an interesting place to spend a few hours.
Veramar is a recently developed area along the north eastern coast of Almeria, about 5 kilometres from the old town of Vera which has a variety of shops and restaurants that offer traditional cuisine. There is a weekly market every Saturday. The town has a XVI century church of La Encarnación and a XIX century Bullring as well as a museum and XVII century Convent.
The fishing port of Garrucha is close by and can be reached via the coastal walkway or 5 mins by car. There are a number of fish restaurants along the seafront. Garrucha is well-known for its' many seafood restaurants. There is a regular weekly market which opens from 9am to 2pm on a Friday. Garrucha also has a selection of stalls which open in the evening along the seafront promenade during the summer months.
Just a few minutes further along the coast is Mojacar, a typical white Spanish town. The old town is set high up back from the sea. The newer part, Mojacar Playa is laid out alongside the coast with low-rise white-washed buildings with unobstructed views. Mojacar Playa also has numerous beach clubs which offer evening entertainment for those looking for a livelier nightlife.
This whole area is where the Spanish still come to on holiday. It retains its Spanish authenticity and has a long line of unspoilt beaches where you can still enjoy the beauty of the Andalucian seaside life. This region is a wonderful place to get away from it all.
Veramar 6 is situated next to the naturist area of Vera Playa, and naturists make use of the left area of the beach. Non-naturists make use of the main beach, to the right. Veramar 6 is not a naturist urbanization.
Veramar is situated in the northern region of Almeria next to the eastern coast. The nearest airport is Almeria Airport to the south and is approximately a 50 minute drive along the A7. Various airlines operate flights to Almeria from Stansted, Gatwick and Birmingham. An alternative airport is Murcia Airport which is to the north of Vera and about a 1.5 hour drive.
It is advisable to hire a car to take full advantage and discover the region. There are many hire car companies which offer competitive rates and operate from both Airports. There are buses which run from Mojacar to Almeria Airport as well as various taxi services. There is also a Shuttle bus company that operates to and from Almeria, Murcia and Alicante airports.
