I live in the village with my family,I'm a Commercial Artist working from home.I have lived in the cottage watching my family grow up for many years, it's a wonderful place for a child as the beach is their safe playground while adults can relax!
Tim purchased this Cottage in 2003
Why Tim chose Shaldon
Providence Cottage dates from 1780 when Horse Lane was named Providence Lane, the cottage used to be two small fisherman's cottages but was knocked into one in the 70's.It has been renovated by us and the previous owners. It has a character feel but with a modern vibe.
What makes this Cottage unique
Providence Cottage is Cosy and Modern, it's a stones throw from the village beach and 2 mins from the centre of the village. We have some fabulous restaurants from ODE Cafe,ODE & Co,the London Inn to the Clipper Cafe.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
This is a really lovely cottage and we had a wonderful time. The bed was so comfortable I kept oversleeping. We will be back to stay again.
Fab property, everything there that we needed. Ample parking just a short walk away where you can buy a weekly ticket for just under £25 so you can come and go with ease.
Had a lovely stay
The house was lovely, had all we needed (except wifi & a broom, who wants to hoover? They had a hoover but a broom would have dealt with the sand quicker). Parking a nightmare but this is nothing to do with the house! Would stay again & would recommend, excellent location, comfy beds! Thanks for a lovely stay :)
Lovely cottage only minutes from the beach
Lovely cottage which is minutes from the local beach. We had a great stay and the owner, Tim, couldn't have been more helpful. Shaldon is a really nice village with some great cafes, a couple of pubs and a good local shop. Highly recommended.
Shaldon is a sweet Village with a good selection of numerous friendly pubs, cafes, and restaurants to choose from along with an award winning butcher, a bakery, chemist, Post Office, delicatessens and a chip shop.
Among the many things to do and see are:-
"1785 Day" from May until September on every Wednesday, the villagers dress in georgian costume and there are many special attractions on the village green, with free entertainment in the evenings.
A 18 Hole Approach Golf Course.
The Botanical Gardens
Shaldon Wildlife Trust - Endangered primates, exotic birds, small mammals & nocturnal house.
Shaldon Water Carnival with its Parade or Dressed Boats and Shaldon Regatta in August
There's the village Beach or wander up to the Smugglers tunnel which goes to the Ness Cove Beach, a larger and sandy beach. With the completion of a multi-million pound South West Water "Clean Sweep" scheme, we can boast of some of the cleanest beaches in the South West.
