Since CARCES located 17 km northeast of Brignoles (the largest nearby city), you can discover the typical villages and towns by the sea:

AIX EN PROVENCE - HYERES PALMS - St Tropez - Gorges du Verdon - MONTFORT SUR ARGENS - MOUSTIERS STE MARIE - SANARY - TOULON - ST RAPHAEL - BARJOLS - COTIGNAC - CABASSE - CASTELLANE - SALERNES - THE THORONET - the waterfalls of Caramy, circuit des Fontaines, the Verdon Gorge, the mountains of SAINTE VICTOIRE and SAINTE BAUME.

CARCES (3180 inhabitants) is a small French town, located in the department of Var at 140 m altitude in the region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Its inhabitants are called the Carçois.

The river Argens, the river Caramy are the main rivers that cross the town CARCES. The town is near the Verdon Regional Natural Park about 17 km. Shops and town center are located about 7 km from my villa.

Located in the heart of the Var department, the municipality of CARCES is part of what is commonly called the Green Provence. It is located at the confluence of the Argens coastal river and its tributary the Caramy.

The woods and forests account for about half of the area of the town.

The village is located on a promontory and from which we come, we discover the village out of a turn. The surprise, the beauty of the place, its natural environment, its architecture and ancient buildings in lush greenery, can not remain indifferent visitor.

The town has great assets and has preserved a whole urban heritage of past centuries which makes its beauty and richness.

A rich landscape and architectural heritage: the medieval center, the castle ruins, a group of buildings on the outskirts of the village and natural areas (including vines). This heritage is the testimony of the rural lifestyles of the past hundred years.

The old village of Carcès spiral wraps around narrow streets you will discover the facades of houses with glazed tiles, very real characteristics of art Var and very rare.

The other attraction of the town is undoubtedly its magnificent lake in LAC narrow, winding 100 ha and 6 rivers that flow into it with more than 8 km circumference built between 1934 and 1939 and which supplies water Drinking Toulon and its suburbs.

CARCES is also a hotbed of freshwater fishing, so Carcès Lake is popular with anglers due to its calm waters and very shady banks.

This is a resort that attracts tourists who discover the charms of Provence interior, far from the vibrations of the coast. Its surroundings have remained to this day preserved from urbanization. On the left bank, was implanted a real estate program of 40 villas 'LE VILLAGE DU LAC' on the heights on the hillside.

The town is crossed by an equestrian circuit, and twelve walks nearly 300 kilometers of marked trails with tracks that match all levels and all ages. Some lead to the beautiful Falls Caramy (7 m high). On foot, backpacking, this is by far the best way to discover the area and smell the smells of the hills. Family friendly, fitness trail offers its games for children, and 37 sports workshops, a reception area with picnic tables, 2 km ...

True PEACEFUL with POOL overlooking Lake CARCES
average rating of 5.0 based on 4 reviews

A beautiful and quiet villa location.

  • 5 of 5

We spent our two week vacation at Claude's villa, which sits high up on the western side of a forested hill, overlooking Lake Carces. It's a truly tranquil location, with a superb view down to the lake itself.

The villa is a split-level building, with the kitchen, living area, bath/shower room, wc and a bedroom on the upper level, while below is further sleeping accommodation comprising one double bedroom, a further "open-plan" type double bed room and two further single beds. There's also an excellent shower room and further wc

The two floors levels aren't connected by an internal staircase - you have to go outside between the two - but it represented no problem to us at all.

The villa itself is extremely well equipped, especially in the kitchen and the living room boasted a large (something in the region of 50 inch) TV screen, with satellite TV and a DVD player. There is also wi-fi, although worth pointing out the connection was intermittent (for whatever reason). Both floors are well serviced by modern air conditioning units.

The upper patio area (as pictured) is where we ate most of of our meals, with the fantastic view over the lake in the background. The swimming pool is on the level below and where our 16 and 14 year old boys spent most of their time.

The villa is around a 15 minute drive away from the main town of Carces and a further 10 minutes or so onto places such as Cotignac and Entrecasteaux.

It's worth pointing out that the villa is located around 1.3 miles off the road which runs around Lake Carces and this 1.3 mile stretch is not in great condition (especially the last 70 meters or so, which is akin to a pot-holed track). It's not an issue for most modern day cars, but not somewhere to bring a low-slung sports car!

In summary, it's a hugely relaxing villa to enjoy and certainly covered the varied requirements we had as a family of four with two boys. The location is simply stunning, matched by the weather we enjoyed and the wildlife we were fortunate enough to have seen while there. If only I could work from there...

Très bien située

  • 5 of 5

LAURENCE
