4* Self Catering Farm Cottage
About Laura Walker
My name is Laura and I run the holiday cottages on the family farm. I live on the farm with my husband, two children and my parents live next door. We are an arable farm but also have a herd of Highland cows and three pet sheep who live in the field in front of the holiday cottages.
Laura Walker purchased this Cottage in 2009
Why Laura Walker chose Alva
The family bought the farm in 1983 and its where I was brought up. I am lucky enough to raise my own family on the farm too.
What makes this Cottage unique

Great location for visiting Stirling and the surrounding area. Lovely cottage.
A bit of trouble connecting with the host to access our cottage. We arrived on a Sunday and there was no place nearby open for dinner or to buy food. Luckily Stirling is not far. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We had hoped to see the sheep and cows of the farm more hands on, but the farm no longer keeps animals as the website suggests.
Fabulous rural cottage. Very cozy and relaxing
Beautiful cottage. Lovely rural area. The owner was so helpful and kind. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here
Thank you very much Wendy. I am glad that you chose to bring in the New Year at Balquharn and that we made your stay so memorable! xxx
We had a wonderful stay at Willow Cottage and would recommend it highly. Location was good - close to Sterling, the Castle and William Wallace Memorial and not too long a ride (and a beautiful one at that) to St. Andrews.
Cottage was clean and cute and very nicely furnished. The grounds were beautiful too, very "Scottish." And lastly, Laura was great.
