Ken purchased this cabin in 2002
Quiet, private and secure. Plenty of sunshine; outside zone of rain and mist (bajareque) that often falls on Boquete town. A bounty of birds, great river valley and volcano views.
Spectacular views. No noise. No traffic. No crowds, Private, secure, with all amenities, large pool, birds, butterflies, flowers, lots of vegetation, plants.Great night-time star gazing.
We stayed in Cabin 4 for a week, which is the furthest cabin from the entrance and very close to the pool (we liked both of those features). The property is beautiful and has a great view of Volcan Baru. The pool is amazing, and is kept really clean. I miss that pool! It was really quiet and peaceful, we were quite glad we didn't stay right in town. We had a car so getting there was easy but it's also a really quick and easy taxi ride into town as well. The owner was really helpful with our hundreds of questions and is a pretty interesting guy to talk to. The cabin was spacious and clean, had basic furniture and had all the standard household/kitchen items you'd need for self-catering. If we ever go back to Boquete, I'd stay here again.
I noticed some reviews mentioning noise from roosters, but we didn't hear any and I'm usually pretty rooster-sensitive.
My husband and I stayed here for the month of February 2016. It is a beautiful area and I agree with other reviews in terms of ability to walk to the bus stop and enjoying the lovely pool, as well as the hike down the canyon plus gorgeous views of Volcan Baru. The cabins are spacious but kitchen equipment was not in good shape - pots, frying pans, etc. really should be replaced as they were in poor shape. The bed was comfortable but the rest of the furniture is very sparse and not comfortable. While we were there the winds were gale force and as they blew through our cabin at night, it sounded like a freight train passing over your head. We are told very strong winds are common in the highlands between Jan - March. The neighbours have roosters so you hear them crowing all night too. We were assured there would be a bbq for our use but the one available for everyone to share was broken and Ken didn't seem interested in having it repaired or replaced. You can do your laundry at the communal washer/dryer but Ken charges $5 US per load. The pool was a big draw for us and a great place to visit with other guests at the end of the day. Paying the deposit was complicated as Ken doesn't take credit cards or accept e-transfers or on-line payments.
Spent 6 nights at the Boquete River Inn, very comfortable and spacious cabins. A couple of beautiful rest stops with benches along the perimeter trail to enjoy morning coffee or just sit and enjoy the views. Close enough for walking to the highway to catch the bus into either Boquete or David, with bus stops right at the entrance in both directions. Close enough to Boquete to walk back if you like to walk (downhill all the way and usually wind at your back). Ken (the owner) is a very pleasant fellow and often offers a ride into town if your travel times coincide with his. Don't miss the hike into the canyon. Stayed in Cabin #4 at the end of the road with a great view of Volcan Baru. Warm, clean pool.
I spent two and a half weeks in Panama with my parents and sister with 3 nights at the Bouquete River Inn. The place is quite easy to find; look for a large yellow rock with Boquete River Inn written on it on your left as you are driving from David. We stopped at the large supermarket Rey in David to avoid driving into Boquete on our first day (but it’s only a 5 min drive). Ken is very helpful for all issues, questions, suggestions. He even called Hertz on our behalf to extend our rental car for a day. The cabins are large and comfortable. Don’t be surprised to share it with some additional creatures (aka bugs). No air conditioning but it’s not required since it cools off nicely at night. We were a family of four and the futon was a bit uncomfortable for my sister and I, but there was an air mattress to improve the comfort. Kitchen had all the necessary cooking utensils (we didn’t use the oven, just the stove). The pool was a nice treat after a day of hiking and the walk down to the river was a good little hike.
I recommend staying here if you have your own car, enjoy a quiet getaway and the outdoors.
I just returned from 2 weeks in Panama, 5 days of which I spent at Boquete River Inn. I had a cabana, which is really a fully furnished house, comfortable bed, hot water (not always found in Panama), and a spectacular view of the Baru Volcano, literally steps from the front door.
Although it is only
Minutes from boquete, it was so quiet, no honking horns waking me up!
Besides the actual cabin, I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of common space that was available to use on the property, there is a nice walking trail around the property that I would enjoy each morning, with stops at one of the two observation benches that have views of the volcano but also the lush forest/jungle below the property....
The owner, ken, is very personable, and always has some interesting facts to share of the area and panama in general.
I would highly recommend Boquete River Inn, I know I will be back!
From the comfort of my clean, private and comfortable cabin, to the spectacular views of the Baru Volcano to the beautiful well manicured grounds, I was very impressed with my 5 night stay at Boquete River Inn.
Owner Ken made me feel at home right away, he is extremely knowledgeable of the area and always willing to give tips and answer any general knowledge questions I had about Boquete and Panama in general.
One of the things that I particularly loved about this place is that although I rented a cabin, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of common area that I was able to enjoy, walking trail around the property and scenic view points complete with benches and sun shelters.
I will definitely be back to Panama and will definitely be back at Boquete River Inn!
