About Nicole Bem
We moved to Israel from Toronto in 2005 with our four kids in tow, the oldest being 12 years old at the time. We live in Ra'anana but we really love Tsfat and have a number of very dear friends there. Once our oldest two kids joined the army we just have not had as many opportunities to spend family time together up there. Rather than see the place sit empty for months at a time we decided to make it available for others to enjoy as well. It is a remarkable place and we do our utmost to ensure that your stay is superb. After-all, you are guests in our home! We have had excellent feedback from our guests and we are so happy in helping people fall in love with israel.
Nicole Bem purchased this Villa in 2006
Why Nicole Bem chose Safed
Have you taken a look at the pictures? The house was originally part of an Armenian Church built in Tsfat some 400 to 500 years ago. The walls are three feet thick. When we bought the place it was very bare-bones. We spent close to a year renovating it. When you lie back in one of the cozy sofas in the family room you look up to domed stone vaulted ceilings above you. You feel like you are living in a castle. At the same time we've put in all the modern amenities that one would need at very high-standards. We did not cut any corners because unlike other places that are built for hotel guests, this is a home that we built for ourselves. We hope that you will love it as much as we do!
What makes this Villa unique
Serenity. Plenty of space. Two private courtyards. An opulent dining area. A place to escape the busy world outside and to connect with your loved ones. One of the most common feedback that we receive is people telling us how peaceful they felt there.

This place is so magical and added so much to our stay in tzvat. There nothing like staying In a 400 year old restored home. The hosts really do not miss a beat. Everything you can possibly need is there and is well worth the price.
So happy to have met you guys! Thanks for taking such good care of the place. Hope to see you back next time you're in Israel.
It was super
Very nice & helpful owners
We loved this house!
We highly recommend this villa for your time in Tzfat. Nicole was wonderful to work with in planning our stay, and the house is as beautiful in real life as it is in the pictures. We were only five people, but the house is big and can hold more than one family. it is just magical and like no place you have ever stayed. We spent our evenings on the rooftop terrace watching the sun set over the mountains. Actually saw THREE planets - something we never see in our city home. Everything was in working order and the house was very clean. Also, the people in the neighborhood were very warm and welcoming to us. Highly recommend!
Stunning Renovation - Peaceful Retreat
We stayed here for a family vacation in June 2018. We used the house as a base for our travels around northern Israel, it worked perfectly. There were 2 adults and 4 kids (12-22), we loved the peacefulness that the house provided. The house is a wonderful balance of old world charm and modern convinces, with a kosher kitchen. The host were very generous, leaving a bottle of wine and offering a free tour of the City, which unfortunately due to scheduling we did not take advantage of. The common rooms are large and welcoming, the kids each found a favorite spot to retreat to. The rooftop deck provides an amazing spot to unwind and watch the sunset. The house was a challenge to find the first day, make sure to follow the instructions exactly (which start at the first round about upto the old City), we got lost the first day (we missed a turn), but the hosts were lovely at helping us get back on track. We had a large van and managed to find parking nearby most days, the furthest we had to park was about a 2 minute walk away. The grocery store is a 5 minute walk away, however I would recommend taking the extra walk to the larger one about 15 minutes away, better prices and selection.
Hey Yael - we are so happy that you enjoyed the place as much as we do when we go up there! It's funny - when people ask me the address it's not a simple answer. First. in typical Jewish fashion I answer the question with a question - how well do you know Tsfat? If the answer is affirmative I just say - you know Yacov Hadad's gallery right by Nissim with the dobermans on the roof? We are just down the steps and to the left next to Adina (who's been there for decades). If they don't know Tsfat we have to say - Don't put in our real address '72 Tet Vav Street' because Google will take you to another 72 Tet Vav street about a ten minute walk away (I'm not making this stuff up). Instead I tell them to put Villa Tiferet into Waze and voila - they get there. Oh - another piece of good news is they just opened a big supermarket about a five minute walk from the villa. Anyway, it was a pleasure hosting you and I hope you come visit again.
Spectacular Medieval Castle with all modern amenities!
This villa is a unique and special experience to stay in. Let's start with the hosts and owners. Nicole and Amir are quality people who genuinely care that your experience in their home is ideal. They truly think of all the big and little things that make all the difference. They provide someone to meet you and literally escort you into the home. Next, they have a fully stocked kitchen with any appliance and gadget you may need, and even the bathrooms have adequate shampoo soap and bath gel so you don't have to bring with. They even provide a complimentary bottle of wine for your arrival. Danny who let's you in gives an excellent tour of Tzefat and answers any questions you may have about the area, house, and where to obtain anything additional you may need. He is available, knowledgable and very nice. Next, the house. You feel as though you are stepping back in time to how royalty lived. The views from the MULTIPLE rooftops/balconies are breathtaking. The kitchen is state of the art with industrial gourmet appliances, granite counter tops and for those kosher travelers separate sinks and even ovens! The bathrooms are modern and the water pressure is excellent ( better than at the best hotels!). Also, the house is spotless, something very important to us. The beauty of this property is hard to describe, and I will tell you that the photos do not even do it justice. It is a special, spacious, luxurious home, and if it is available when you are traveling north, my advice is to grab it!
This property is a gem located within a stone's throw of the artist quarter and old city. The renovation modernized the villa but retained the charm of the original centuries old architecture. The place is ideal for a large family or several families looking to share the villa. You have every amenity available including a chef's kosher kitchen, spacious living areas, televisions, PlayStation for the kids, washer/dryer, and a furnished deck to take in the incredible sunsets!
Nicole, Danny and Amir made our stay even more relaxed and comfortable. They were proactive, courteous and responsive to every request.
Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer! I highly recommend extended time in Tsfat and using the villa as a base for day trips. Tsfat, the Judean Hills and Golan do not get their due. There is so much to do and beautiful places to experience! Villa Tiferat is the perfect place to stay.
Thanks so much for the positive review! We're so happy to hear you enjoyed the house. It's a great getaway for families and our goal is to provide everything for adults and kids so you'll all feel like Villa Tiferet is a home away from home.
You're so right - there's a lot to do in the north and Tsfat is a great base to enjoy many sites, especially if you love nature, the outdoors, history and archaeology. We've been coming to the area for family vacations for 10 years and still haven't seen it all.
We hope you come back for a longer stay. When you're ready to plan another trip, we'd be happy to recommend our favourite hikes, best waterfalls, horseback riding trails and national parks.
And thanks for being such great guests!
Amir, Nicole and Danny
Tsfat is for those who love Jewish history, art and the outdoors.
There are many art galleries in Tsfat, especially in the Old City. Many ancient synagogues are in the Old City and come Shabbat, Safed transforms into a place of singing and dancing. There is also a very mystical side. Kabbalists lived here many centuries ago and many local Tsfatis learn these traditions to this day. Visit for Lag B'Omer or the Klezmer festival when the sleepy town is alive with many visitors, music and song.
We particularly love the outdoors and appreciate the fresh air and breezes in this mountaintop town. Tsfat has one of the most pleasant climates in the country during Israel's hot summer.
We know of many mountain biking trails, caves, waterfalls and hikes nearby and are happy to help you plan an outdoor adventure.
Villa Tiferet is in the Artists Quarter and is a short walk to everything including restaurants, shops, supermarkets and tourist attractions. If you are here on a Wednesday, be sure to visit the local farmers' market.
