Overview

About the property

Apartment, 2 loft style Bedrooms, 1 bath/ steam ocean front views of Indian Arm

This fabulous waterfront apartment on Indian Arm in North Vancouver is just 30 minutes from beautiful downtown Vancouver, the cleanest most beautiful city in the world!

Located on Indian Arm, a 10,000 year old fiord in a West Coast rain forest, the community of Woodlands is one of Vancouver's best kept secrets, not many people know we are here and we like it that way! Woodlands is one of Vancouver's oldest summer communities which consists of waterfront homes accessed by a 5 km country road which winds its way through the forests of Mt. Seymour, a provincial park, well known for its snowshoeing, skiing, golfing, hiking, and mountain biking, so don't forget your bike! Woodlands is much less crowded than Deep Cove and gives you that remote feeling without being remote.

There is an 80 foot cement deck with gazebo and bar-b-q which is attached to a 50 foot dock, perfect for sunbathing. Watch seals, seabirds, yachts, and fish boats make their way up Indian Arm to the beautiful Wigwam Inn, a private yacht club with a scandalous past! Across from the Wigwam is the majestic Granite Falls Marine Park.

Bring your scuba gear as there is excellent diving right out the front door! 2 Kayaks and a Walker Bay rowboat are available free of charge. Spend an afternoon exploring the many marine parks home to black bears, bald eagles, and two salmon runs a year. Power boat rentals are available at Seycove Marina in Deep Cove.

The picturesque village of Deep Cove is just around the corner. It is home to beautiful gift shops, including Ahoy which is Herschel Backpacks flagship store, the designer lives nearby, many restaurants as well as the forest hike to Quarry Rock Lookout and Baden Powel Trail which stretches for 50 km, all the way to Horseshoe Bay. The Seymour Art Gallery, Shaw Theatre, Northlands Golf Course, Seycove Marina Boat Rentals, Arm Reach Bistro, Parkgate Community Centre and Library are all close by. Come and experience waterfront living at its finest without breaking the bank, only a 50.00 cleaning fee and 100.00 refundable damage deposit, one of the least expensive on any vacation rental website. 4 day minimum in July and August. Most suitable for 2 to 3 adults or 2 adults and 3 children. One queen bed, 1 double and one convertible bed. 3 night minimum over Christmas Holidays and March break.

About Elaine Minichiello

Elaine and Tony have been married for 20 years and have 2 grown children. Elaine is originally from Halifax and lived on the ocean on St Margaret's Bay, Nova Scotia. She came to Vancouver and obtained her Bachelor of Social Work Degree as well as a Chartered Herbalist diploma.Tony is a city boy born and raised in Vancouver. He has been a financial advisor for 35 years.Together they did an extensive renovation on the property after it was sold to them by the Rubbermaid heiress who moved on to build on Cortes Island. They have been doing vacation rentals in this location for 16 years.

Elaine Minichiello purchased this apartment in 1999

Why Elaine Minichiello chose Vancouver Coast

We both really wanted to be on the water and as we could not move to Nova Scotia because of Tony's work, we set out to find a waterfront home close to downtown Vancouver and found it on Indian Arm, North Vancouver.

What makes this apartment unique

The best part about staying here is the view as well as the deck and the dock! There is also a gazebo and barbq The apartment feels like you are on top of the water. The apartment is very spacious and comes with lots of extras like the kayaks, life jackets as well as countless books, magazines and a few children's books and toys such as lego. We are happy to show you how to use the boats and to show you the trails on Mt Seymour. West Coast photographer, Andy Chamberlayne's, work is featured throughout the apartment. I honestly do not think you will find a nicer place in Vancouver and it is affordable for families.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Fabulous weekend Getaway!!!

  • 5 of 5

Despite some pretty stormy weather, we really enjoyed our 3 days in this lovely location. Views were beautiful. Elaine and Tony were wonderful hosts, very friendly and welcoming.

The location is spectacular, a perfect place to enjoy the outdoors both on and off the water. Many hiking trails nearby. It is hard to believe that you are only minutes from the heart of Vancouver.

We were 4 adults and would definitely rent again!

Magical..........

  • 5 of 5

We can support and vouch for all the city/wilderness aspect of this fabulous property that has been described many times in the feedback given already. Similarly the well deserved feedback on the superb “hosting” given by Elaine and Tony who are open and accommodating to ensure your stay is everything you want it to be. We are generally very independent travellers but beyond doubt we benefited from Elaine’s many suggestions (and more importantly the “when” and “how to”). For example, our Grouse Mountain experience was topped with a wonderful meal at the best table in the restaurant so we could watch the sun going down and the city lighting up to its millions of twinkling lights in the distance - and at exceptional value due to Elaine’s advice on timings etc. We have stayed in a number of holiday rentals now and by far Elaine (and Tony) come out at first place for their help

So now for the property - WOW. The views are stunning. As soon as you walk into the apartment it feels open yet warm and cosy. It feels like you’ve really “come home”. But the biggest discovery was the magic of watching the ever changing scenery. On beautiful days the sea water (just a couple of feet from the apartment windows and door), is sapphire blue, or emerald green depending on the sun and the wind, with the backdrop of pine tree covered mountains and Islands as far as the eye can see. Even on rainy days it was still a joy to watch the mist and rain moving in and out along with coasting sea and land birds (and seals on calm water) - almost time for another mug of steaming coffee or chocolate just to have an excuse to sit and watch it all go by. We could hear the sound of the sea at high tide gently lapping and circling the docks’ stands. By far the most absolute magical time though was during the night when the land and seascape became a black and silver screen. Even on overcast/wet evenings it was still light enough to see the island and docks’ and their reflections in the water. About the third evening in on our stay the draw became too much when the addition of stars topped it off and so the camera had to come out at 3am in the morning………….a scene that may have been captured on camera but will stay forever on our memories.

Our stay was for 8 nights at the end of September/beginning of October and it just wasn’t long enough. We would return in split second given the opportunity. Huge thank you to Elaine and Tony for all their sharing and kindness and for renting t

We loved this place!

  • 5 of 5

The location is superb, very relaxing which was just what we needed. It was also located less than 1/2 hour from downtown Vancouver so it is the best of both worlds. Elaine and Tony were the perfect hosts providing everything you need for a comfortable stay while also offering great recommendations and tips. The apartment is unique in both looks and layout and it was very roomy and comfortable. It was just the two of us but definitely enough space for 4 people. It was nice having kayaks and a row boat to use at our whim. I enjoyed a morning row where I got to explore a bit of the lake. We also made use of the crab trap that Tony had which I thought was above and beyond my expectations. I would love to go back one day!

Owner's Response: Hope to see you back again! Just so you know Indian Arm is part of the ocean, it is not a lake but it is often so calm it appears to be a lake! Glad you enjoted the boats!

Amazing setting, beautiful apartment, wonderful hosts

  • 5 of 5

We had such a lovely stay! The apt is lovely - cozy, comfortable, right on the water - just sublime! We felt welcome from the minute we arrived and were absolutely well taken care of. The setting is indescribable - so remote yet close to Deep Cove charm and convenience. We just fell in love with everything. The kayaks were so great to have. I can't wait to return!

Fabulous rental with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

As VRBO owners ourselves we always endeavor to stay in owner operated, off-the-beaten track rentals ... and this one absolutely fit the bill! We stayed for 4 nights in this wonderful home, caught dinner off the dock (Dungeness crabs in the trap we bought for $10 CAD before we realized Tony already had one), enjoyed the row boat and just generally soaked in the stunning views from our deck and our bedroom window too. Tony and Elaine were lovely hosts with many great suggestions, especially the one-way hike on the Baden Powell Trail to Deep Cove for me while my hubby enjoyed happy hour and great company at the Raven Pub waiting for me. Dinner at the Arms Reach Bistro is a must! We explored our way to Whistler one day enjoying the Falls and beautiful views along the way, and we would highly recommend a visit to Horseshoe Bay - a charming little town with great restaurants. We would definitely come back and we hope Tony and Elaine will come and visit us in the Florida Keys one day at our VRBO #5332.
