This fabulous luxury waterfront apartment on Indian Arm in North Vancouver is just 25 minutes from beautiful downtown Vancouver, the cleanest most beautiful city in the world!

Located on Indian Arm, a 10,000 year old fiord in a West Coast rain forest, the community of Woodlands is one of Vancouver's best kept secrets. It is a community of waterfront homes accessed by a country road which winds its way through the forests of Mt. Seymour which is famous for its snowshoeing, skiing, golfing, hiking, and mountain biking, so don't forget your bike!

There is an 80 foot cement deck with gazebo and bar-b-q which is attached to a 50 foot dock, perfect for sunbathing. Watch seals, seabirds, yachts, and fish boats make their way up Indian Arm to the beautiful Wigwam Inn, a private yatch club with a scandalous past! Across from the Wigwam is the majestic Granite Falls Marine Park.

Bring your scuba gear as there is excellent diving right out the front door! Kayaks are available free of charge. Spend an afternoon exploring the many marine parks home to black bears, bald eagles, and two salmon runs a year. Power boat rentals are available at Seycove Marina in Deep Cove.

The picturesque village of Deep Cove is just around the corner! It is home to beautiful gift shops and restaurants. The Seymour Art Gallery, Shaw Theatre, Northlands Golf Course, Seycove Marina Boat Rentals, Parkgate Community Center and Library are all close by. Come and experience waterfront living at its finest!! 4 day minimum in July and August. Most suitable for 2 adults or 2 adults and 2 kids. One queen bed, 1 double and one convertible bed. Beginning in March 2016 construction of a home 2 doors over and 60 feet above will commence. The district of North Vancouver has strict construction and noise bylaws. No work on Sundays or holidays and no work before 7 or after 5. Most people are so busy exploring Vancouver, hiking and kayaking that it should not be an issue. For those wishing to book we are offering a 100.00 Canadian dollar refund upon check out to compensate for any noise that may occur for those staying between 3 and 5 nights. Over 6 nights we are offering a 200.00 Canadian dollar discount. This is such a lovely area it would be a shame to miss out due to noise that may or may not be happening.

About Elaine Minichiello

Elaine and Tony have been married for 20 years and have 2 grown children. Elaine is originally from Halifax and lived on the ocean on St Margaret's Bay, Nova Scotia. Tony is a city boy born and raised in Vancouver. Together they did an extensive renovation on the property after it was sold to them by the Rubbermaid heiress who moved on to build on Cortes Island.

Elaine Minichiello purchased this apartment in 1999

Why Elaine Minichiello chose Vancouver Coast

We both really wanted to be on the water and because we could not move to Nova Scotia because of Tony's work. We set out to find a waterfront home close to downtown Vancouver and found it on Indian Arm, North Vancouver.

What makes this apartment unique

The best part about staying here is the view as well as the deck and the dock! There is also a gazebo with bar bq. The apartment feels like you are on top of the water. The apartment is very spacious and comes with lots of extras like the kayaks, life jackets as well as countless Vanity Fair and Vogue magazines. We are happy to show you how to use the boats and to show you the trails on Mt Seymour. West Coast photographer, Andy Chamberlayne's, work is featured throughout the apartment. I honestly do not think you will find a nicer place and it is affordable for families.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Fabulous rental with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

As VRBO owners ourselves we always endeavor to stay in owner operated, off-the-beaten track rentals ... and this one absolutely fit the bill! We stayed for 4 nights in this wonderful home, caught dinner off the dock (Dungeness crabs in the trap we bought for $10 CAD before we realized Tony already had one), enjoyed the row boat and just generally soaked in the stunning views from our deck and our bedroom window too. Tony and Elaine were lovely hosts with many great suggestions, especially the one-way hike on the Baden Powell Trail to Deep Cove for me while my hubby enjoyed happy hour and great company at the Raven Pub waiting for me. Dinner at the Arms Reach Bistro is a must! We explored our way to Whistler one day enjoying the Falls and beautiful views along the way, and we would highly recommend a visit to Horseshoe Bay - a charming little town with great restaurants. We would definitely come back and we hope Tony and Elaine will come and visit us in the Florida Keys one day at our VRBO #5332.

A TRULY STUNNING LOCATION FOR A RELAXING BREAK

  • 5 of 5

Me , hubby and youngest daughter (18) enjoyed this fabulous rental for four nights. Hubby had his reservations prior to travelling about the location being quiet but he absolutely loved it! Me, I knew I'd love it and even our 18 year old who couldn't wait to get to Downtown for the shopping loved it. That says something about the place and how fabulous it is. It sits in a stunning location and just soaking up the view, kayaking, swimming off the pier and wildlife watching were so restful but you are easily able to reach Deep Cove and local attractions within a short drive. The weather was fabulous while we were there so we barbecued every night, in fact we ate every meal outside. We loved the quirkiness of the layout of the place, so much better than your bog standard hotel room. It was well equipped with everything you need for a great stay. Elaine and Tony were great hosts, chatty and there if you needed them and more than happy to help. I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone and if you asked me if would I stay here again-- yes in a heartbeat!

Like a resort without all the people!

  • 5 of 5

The views were even better than the pictures! You have to be there to experience the beautiful mountains with the sparkling water. The weather was hot when we were there, and we loved relaxing on the dock night and day, in the zero gravity chairs while soaking in the view, and diving into the refreshing water. Since we are from Ontario, we especially appreciate the lack of mosquitoes, even at dusk! Sometimes a seal would pop up fairly near me while I was swimming. We saw moon jellyfish there, but were told that they don't sting. Kayaking on three days was a highlight of our trip. The layout of the apartment is a bit unconventional, but we worked around it. There are no doors separating the sleeping areas, but there are some curtains. We used a long beach towel over the clear glass shower door to create some privacy while taking a shower since the shower is not in a bathroom. Be aware that there is no oven. We had bought a pizza to cook in the oven, but used the barbeque instead. Other than that, the apartment was well equipped and had a dishwasher which was greatly appreciated. The satellite TV worked well. If you drove for 5 minutes, you could park at a small gravel parking lot on the side of the road, and access the Baden Powell trail that takes you to Quarry Rock, a fantastic view of Indian Arm. The owners were friendly and helpful. This place is one of my all time favourite vacation rentals, and I have been to at least 25. You could not have an experience close to this with a hotel!

A Destination!

  • 5 of 5

When asked about our vacation, we'll be talking about the awesome place we stayed on Indian Arm. It's not often we talk about where we stayed rather than where we went, but this was a destination. We enjoyed kayaking to Starfish Island (my daughter's name for the island across the inlet), watching the weather from our bed, and relaxing. We also enjoyed entertaining, which was supposed to be on the porch, but weather pushed it inside. The place, while cozy, was still spacious enough for our small group, and the view/location was enjoyed.

Our hostess was attentive to details: The futon sofa was set up as a bed in anticipation of our needs, and extra table ware was provided in anticipation of our entertaining guests.

We didn't have a problem with the open floor plan (noted by other reviewers). We didn't take advantage of the steam feature in the shower. Though the drive out seemed at first to be long and something of an adventure (tight switchbacks and in places just a single lane), by the second trip I found it to be shorter than I remembered and very enjoyable, through beautiful forests past granite cliff faces and a nice waterfall.
