We are located just 15 miles south of sunny Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, only minutes from one of the world's best snorkel and shore dive sites, Pu'uhonua o Honaunau, the Place of Refuge. We grow 100% Kona coffee on our farm. We have several orchards organized in rows on the hill side as well as several plantings in the shade of tall macadamia nut trees. Our farm is lined with nearly 200 macadamia nut trees that provide us with a bountiful harvest. In addition to the coffee and nuts, we have many varieties of fruit trees.
We have Golden Globe mangos, Hayden mangos, papayas, pineapples, guava, passionfruit, lychee, cherimoya, soursop, lime, sour orange, pomegranate, avocado, bananas, figs, coconuts, monstera, rose apples, custard apples and noni. We also grow cocoa and kukui nut. Our farm features unique lava rock out croppings as well as beautiful varieties of palm trees and flowers.
Every guest is treated to a tour of the farm. We will show you how we process the coffee and care for the trees. When you arrive, you will have a bouquet of freshly picked flowers as well as an assortment of in season fruits from our farm.
The Tree Top Apartment is a private second floor apartment with ocean and mountain views. The apartment is completely separate and private from the owner's home. The cathedral ceilings, sky light, stained glass window and sliding glass door to the lanai invite in the sun and outdoors to the apartment. At approximately 750 square feet, the apartment accommodates four people. Our farm is at a comfortable 1000 foot elevation so air conditioning is not needed. We are blessed with warm sunny days and evenings perfect for sleeping.
There is a master bedroom with a queen bed and a second bedroom with two twin beds. The two bedrooms and the kitchen have ceiling fans. The living room has a TV, DVD player, VCR and CD player. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals while you are in paradise. We have dedicated wireless high speed internet access. You have easy parking next to your own private entrance. We also have boogie boards, umbrellas and beach chairs for you to borrow.

Originally from Nazareth, Pennsylvania, we moved to the Big Island to live our dream of owning a coffee farm and vacation rental. We first visited Hawaii while on our honeymoon. Like most people, we fell in love with the islands and dreamed of living in paradise. For two of our visits to the Big Island, we stayed at the farm. It was our ideal home in Hawaii. We could farm coffee and macadamia nuts and run a vacation rental. When we came to the Big Island to find a place to live, we booked a rental on the farm that would become our home. We hoped to find a house to rent, but would have been happy with a condo that had a lanai for us to spend time outside. We were so excited when the owner told us he was looking to sell the farm. We knew then that is was meant to be.

We chose to buy our Kona coffee farm in Captain Cook on the Big Island of Hawaii for many reasons: perfect weather, gorgeous ocean, beautiful landscape, breathtaking sunsets, happy, friendly people. ALOHA SPIRIT

Todd greated and welcomed us. He made sure everything was ok. A bowl of fruit was waiting for us and most condiments available in a very well provided kitchen. Easy to find using the directions. You have the unit to yourself. The main house is a way away. This is not a 5 star establishment, but it is clean and comfortable. The road down to the farm and the farm itself is best described as rustic as are most of these small old Kona coffee holdings in the area seem to be. It probally wont be long before the large corps start cobbling them up.
My family (2 middle aged parents & college aged daughter) stayed in the treetop apartment for a week and it was amazing. Comfortable beds, beautiful surroundings, fully stocked kitchen and use of a grill steps away, as well as all the other amenities noted elsewhere. Todd was very helpful, kind, and gave us a real sense of what it means to live on the big island. We definitely would stay here again!
We stayed for 2 weeks in the treetop apartment. It was very peaceful, including the sounds of the roosters crowing and dogs barking at night. It is a great location as a base for exploring the island. The apartment had everything needed for preparing meals, barbequing, doing laundry, etc. We arrived late at night. Todd met us just off the highway and we followed him in our rental car down the very bumpy road into the property. The next morning, when leaving for the day, we found it confusing to find the driveway out of the property. We would recommend prewarning arrivals of the bumpy road conditions as well as more signage or some reflectors on the driveway. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay and if you are adventurous and want to experience true Hawaii life, it is the place to stay!
A friend and I rented the upstairs apartment to serve as home base for exploring beautiful Hawaii both below and above water. We knew it'd be farther from the dive shops in town but also a bit closer to the national park, and wow, was the beauty of the location well worth the drive. Our hosts were wonderfully accommodating of our late arrival flights and had fresh fruit and macadamia nuts in the kitchen to welcome us. Their adorable dogs would come up the stairs to say hello in the mornings. Though we were away much of the day, we loved coming back to a comfortable abode to cook dinner, watch the sunset, and reflect on the day's adventures to the songs of frogs and birds, plus the cute geckos on the lanai. The rental had everything we needed, from wi-fi and kitchen appliances to beach towels, drying racks, a cooler, and even a jacket I found in the closet that saved me from a cold boat ride one night. I will be recommending it to my friends and would definitely visit again.
Todd's friendly and easy-going nature is contagious! A tour of his coffee farm and conversation with this Pennsylvanian-native-turned-Hawaiian is a must! As guests in his rental apartment you will enjoy samples of the coffee, nuts, and fruits harvested from his farm. And, any visitor to this area must go snorkeling at Two-Step and visit Pu'uhonua o Honaunau, the Place of Refuge. The apartment offers basic, not luxurious furnishings and decorations, but guests will find everything is clean and the kitchen has all you need to prepare meals. We enjoyed eating breakfast on the lanai during our stay. We also helped ourselves to the beach chairs for our outing to Two-Step and I supplemented my mask and snorkel with fins Todd has available for guests to borrow. The property is a working farm which means you will see a variety of tools, sheds, and projects associated with the farm from your view on the lanai. If you are looking for perfect manicured gardens, this working farm may not be the place for you. This farm and our conversation with Todd gave us the opportunity to learn how one family transitioned to the Big Island from the mainland. This apartment is also within driving distance to a fabulous local restaurant called The Strawberry Patch. We enjoyed celebrating my mother's 70th birthday and mother's day with an excellent dinner at this local eatery which Todd recommended. Thank you for helping to make our trip to the Big Island memorable.
Three of us stayed at this rental in November and loved it. It was so nice to have a real hawaii experience away from the tourist areas. Todd and his family made us feel very welcome. The apartment was simple and clean. Our favorite was the lanai - especially with visits from the coffee farm dogs. We made great smoothies from the papayas from the farm and other fruit from the farmers market. Snorkeling just down the hill at two-step was fantastic.
Our rental is located in an Agricultural based area. Best snorkeling on the island is located within minutes. Swimming with wild dolphins and turtles in their natural environment. Previous guests with and without snorkeling experience rave about their trips to the nearby beach.
