About Lynn Dimmock
I'm Lynn and I live here at La Metairie with husband Steven and Lexie, a very spoilt cat! We always looked forward to our holidays as they were our escape from a rushed lifestyle - time to switch off and unwind. I was always searching for that special place where the alarm clock didn't exist and I could relax, slip into a pool and catch up on unread books.
Lynn Dimmock purchased this House in 2012
Why Lynn Dimmock chose Alan
We always dreamed of our french home, especially after each holiday or the odd day trip in France. But one thing or another always halted our plans. Eventuality we decided it was now or never and took the plunge and we have never looked back. For the first couple of years La Metairie was our holiday home, our space of peace and calm during our hectic working life. It didn't take long for La Metairie and it’s surrounding area to work its magic. Soon, each return back to our working life became harder and harder. Finally, we succumbed and moved to start our new life at La Metairie. So here we are and the rest is history! La Metairie is one property - a house and two barns. We live in the original house and our guests live in the fully converted barn. To ensure privacy for our guests we have built a private shaded terrace. By chance, we discovered that our local commune (Alan) was planing to use La Metairie as the area’s museum so we were lucky to find it. We even found the plans that the commune had drawn up and the pictures of the renovation from an original dairy farm.
What makes this House unique
When we first set our eyes on La Metairie the first thing we noticed was the amazing stone wall that surrounds much of the front garden. Its many colours shimmied in the sun - it turned out to be the perfect sun trap so guess where we installed the pool!

An amazing find!
We really enjoyed staying at Lynn and Steve's gite. Every need has been anticipated and there is a very high level of comfort. It really feels as though they've gone the extra mile to ensure their guests have the best stay possible.
Everything has been well thought through to ensure your stay is as carefree as possible. The fridge and larder was stocked with an array of essentials which was very well appreciated - especially seeing as we arrived on a Sunday at a time when all the supermarkets are closed. The kitchen is super well equipped, the lounge area is very comfortable, the bathrooms are beautiful with a great selection of toiletries on hand and the beds have amazing mattresses and top quality linen. Outside, the heated pool sparkles and the poolside furniture is beautiful an, again, very comfortable.
The location is brilliant - near to so many great places to visit in the Haute Garonne, Gers and Ariege. We even enjoyed a day trip to Vielha in Spain!
As hosts, Lynn and Steve are brilliant - Steve even volunteered to help us out when we had an issue with our car. Lovely people.
A lovely peaceful place.
5 star slice of heaven
Words simply can't describe what a fantastic place this is. We have stayed at a great many self catering properties for the last forty years and this is probably the best.
We arrived in the middle of the recent French heatwave, tired and very hot, to walk into this wonderful cool, spotlessly clean space. Thick walls, enormous rooms and high ceilings meant that it was always cool inside. The fridge had everything we needed for our first night. We simply dumped our cases, went out into the shady garden area and opened the wine. Then at bed time we fell into the very comfortable, cool beds. After showering in the spotless bathroom.
The pool is clean and heated, the garden has comfortable furniture and is private. The goldfish pond provided us with our main entertainment for the week, watching a huge variety of birds dip on and out whilst the gekkos ran around the outside.
Lynn and Steve are delightful hosts. They were on hand if we needed them but never intrusive.
This is in no way a standard French gite. It is well fitted out, everything works, the knives are sharp, there are no mice, the mattresses are comfortable, the bedding is new and the showers work. And above all it is spotlessly clean. We can't wait to go back.
La Metairie, Alan, Occitanie
We had a very pleasant stay at La Metairie. Despite mixed weather it is a nice area to visit. The gite was ideal, very comfortable and well equipped. We loved sitting out and watching the birds, particularly the red kites. Lynn & Steve were excellent hosts and we especially enjoyed the eggs from Lynn's hens. Lunch in the local auberge was brilliant too.
My friends enjoyed their stay in your beautiful house. Thank you.
Fantastic everything you needed was catered for.
The property was very clean, comfortable with a well stocked larder. Both Lynn and Steve were on hand to help if required and very friendly. It was a fabulous stay and would definitely return for a future holiday.
Atlantic or the Med coast – the choice is yours. Perhaps a trip to Andorra or a drive into the Pyrenees and cross the border into Spain.for lunch time Tapas.
Or just enjoying the local restaurants – there’s one less than 2 minutes away in Alan!
