Le Tour Chalet Rental Photos and Description

Modernised Traditional Farmhouse Chalet 8 - 10 Beds On Ski Slopes

Beautiful self catered chalet comprising major part (220m2) of a traditional renovated stone farmhouse. Perfect location spring, summer, autumn and winter family home situated in the old village of Le Tour, the chalet provides perfect access for extensive and exciting winter and summer activities for which the region is renowned. Ski back to the door & it is a minutes walk to the Vormaine nursery slopes and 3 min to the telecabine, and only 5 minutes drive or bus journey to Argentiere. In the winter season there is a regular complimentary bus service to & from the village during the day.

The large windows and huge balconies allow stunning views up to the Le Tour Glacier and down the valley. The interior of the old chalet has been refurbished, furnished and decorated to the highest standard, whilst maintaining its traditional features and charm. It has been variously described as 'fun family home' and 'wonderfully romantic' so seems to suit most scenarios for self catered holiday

Summer in the Chamonix valley: Summer in the Chamonix valley can be action packed or relaxing as you wish. The hiking & walking is absolutely stunning & you can find walks of a length & gradient to suit most ages. Longer walks can include a night in a hut & it is definitely worth glacier walking with a mountain guide. For the more adventurous, there is rock climbing for every standard, ice climbing, white water rafting, hydroglyse, canoeing, mountain biking, parapenting, a high ropes course & summer luge.

Gentler sports include riding, tennis, swimming, cycling, fishing & golf.

For a less energetic time: For those wishing to take things a bit more gently, an extensive network of lifts & tramways operate in the summer. The cable cars to the top of the Aiguille du Midi & to Brevent give breathtaking views to Mont Blanc & a massive panorama of rugged peaks. The train to the Mer de Glace & the St Gervais Tramway are both scenic trips that can be enjoyed by all. The Aiguilles Rouges Nature Reserve is a fascinating place to visit for those interested in mountain plants & animals. The Animal Parc Merlet in Les Houches gives a great opportunity to see the animals in their natural habitat.

Detailed 'what to do' notes are emailed to all clients prior to their departure.

Culture, shopping & dining: There are numerous museums & places of interest & Le Tour is well positioned for easy day trips to Switzerland & Italy (via the Mont Blanc tunnel or Helbronner telecabine).

For those who enjoy shopping Chamonix offers a widely diverse & exciting array of shops from traditional arts & crafts to wonderful foods & clothes. The weekend markets in both Argentiere & Chamonix are fabulous.

For eating out, there is a massive range of restaurants & cafes to suit everyone.

The peaceful mountain ski village of Le Tour lies at the head of the valley about 2.5 km from Argentiere which in turn is approximately 10 km from Chamonix Mt Blanc. The drive from Geneva airport takes about 1 1/4 hours, there are many transfer minibus companies who operate a regular service to and from the airport. The chalet is situated right at the base of the nursery slopes and a 3 minute walk to the telecabine that serves the Le Tour ski area with it link to Vallorcine in the next valley.

There is fantastic mountain biking and walking in the summer with all the main lifts open making the uphill a bit easier!

Golf: Chamonix golf course is an 18 hole, par 72 & is 6076m long. It is open from 1st May to 11th November. The river L'Arve runs through the middle of the course bisecting several holes. There are some wonderful holes with magnificent views of Mt Blanc. Megeve golf course is an hours drive away situated on a plateau above Megeve. It has 18 holes, par 72 & is 6100m long. Flaine golf course is a spectacular course set at an altitude of 1900m. It is a par 63, 18 holes & 4063m long. Further afield there is the Evian Masters Golf Club near Lake Geneva & 2 courses on Lac Annecy.

Ski: The Chamonix valley boasts some of the finest skiing & snowboarding in the world, offering unrivalled choice for skiers & boarders of all levels. For intermediates & experts it has some of the longest & steepest runs in Europe. The altitude & exposure of areas like the Grand Montets (3200m) in Argentiere & the Aiguille du Midi (3825m) guarantee snow of exceptional quality late into the season. Le Tour is an excellent area for family skiing as well as having some challenging off piste. There are good cross country trails for those who prefer ski de fond.
