Great for family holidays -overlooking Crackington Haven with stunning views

Bedrooms 5
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

Sleeps 12 in 5 bedrooms- plenty of outdoor space with firepit overlooking bay.

Lower Hillcott is a wonderful 5 bedroom family house, recently refurbished to a high standard, now sleeping 12, in the little village of Crackington Haven, on the North Cornwall coast. Situated just 5 minutes walk from the beach with stunning views of the sea. A special place waiting to be discovered.

The property has everything you could want in a holiday home. The outside space is amazing with wonderful views and plenty of space to spread out in. There is a lovely large terrace with table and chairs, bean bags and BBQ. Further up the garden, away from it all, there is even a firepit sunk into the ground, where you can sit of an evening, watching the surf, star gazing and listening to the sounds of the sea. In the summer, there is a full size outdoor table tennis table. In the games room, there is air hockey, a children’s ping pong table, and a darts board. There are wet suits, body boards, beach kit for your use.

The house is of an upside down arrangement. The views are straight to the beach and sea with the majestic Penkenna cliff behind. Upstairs is open plan. The large living room area has beautiful vaulted ceilings and a wonderful wood burner to cosy up on chilly winter evenings. There are 3 sofas to relax on and also giant bean bags, loved by both children and adults, for pure comfort while reading in front of the fire. There is no TV at the property but there is Wifi should you wish to bring laptops.

The open plan arrangement of the dining room kitchen and living area allows for the cook of the party to entertain whilst the rest of the guests relax and enjoy the views! There is a dining table and breakfast bar to eat at, plus the kitchen has all mod cons including dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave and gas cooker.

It really is a lovely, comfortable, family holiday home, perfect for two families or groups of friends wanting to experience Cornwall’s rugged coast and to escape from it all. The facilities are there with the intention of pure enjoyment and it provides a lovely opportunity to relax, sit back and make the most of all the best Cornwall has to offer.

The beach is only a short walk away with wonderful rock pools ripe for exploring and when the tide is right it is great for body boarding or surfing. Locally there are walks in woods and fields as well as the North Cornwall coast path all on the doorstep.

The drive is about 4.5 hours from London.

Great Family Holiday Let with Fabulous Views

Left on Dec 22, 2017 for a stay in Dec 2017

Spectacular views, I have never prepared and cooked food with a view as here. All the rooms were well equipped and cosy. The showers and bathrooms superb, and we did not miss the lack of a television one little bit. My one and only niggle was that the information pack did not did not tell us of the existence of hidden cutlery drawers in the work units or dishwasher. We had to contact the local handyman who proffered the information and thereafter enjoyed a short winter break.

Crackington Haven
Car: recommended

Crackington Haven is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It was once a small harbour importing coal and limestone and it has managed to escape any development and is now a small unspoiled, secret, cove.

When the conditions are right it is a great surfing spot and during the summer holiday weeks two life guards are on duty from 10 to 6 each day. In the spring the cliffs are covered in heather and it is a wonderful place to see the wild flowers and hear the birdsong.

The gently sloping beach is perfect for exploring or for relaxing and although pebbly when the tide is in there is plenty of sand for building castles when the tide is out. Crackington really is a special place perfect for a family holiday away from the crowds.

For convenience there is a cafe in the village across the road from the beach serving lovely local food – including home made pasties, cream teas and cakes, and the ever popular ice creams. As well, in the summer, it sells beach kit, wet suits, body boards – and also rents wet suits. The family pub, The Coombe Barton Inn, serves delicious food and has a wonderful terrace to watch the sun going down over the bay.
