We needed an escape hatch....
We love the beach, and wanted a perfect out-post, hip, fun, with a view to enjoy all year round.
Grace Daniell purchased this condo in 2005
Location, hip without being pretentious.
Second Floor, western corner (windows two sides...not a cave condo)...and no breakfast bar either we have a bon-a-fide kitchen and a separate dining area in the front corner, dine watching dolphins...
We have stayed in many different condos in the area and was hoping this would be our every year condo. It is not. There were two couples with their children staying in the condo above us and the kids ran from one end of the other screaming and yelling, until midnight every night, for an entire week. I am not exaggerating. We went and spoke to their parents but to no avail. We were completely miserable and stayed on the beach or gone as much as possible. In all fairness, we did not call the owner and maybe that is what we should have done. Other than that, the bathrooms could really use some updating, even minimally, and the ceiling over the shower/tub is just gross. The bed was only okay if that matters to you. The remainder of the condo was fine. The stairwells smelled and that was a bit offensive. I hate leaving bad reviews and this may simply be the nature of not being on the top floor. The other reviews are very good so...good luck.
The condo was nice. They had most anything you could want. My friend and I had a "vacation away from it all".........no kids or husbands. (though we did miss them (: ) The bedroom was perfect with 2 beds and we each had our own bathroom. The kitchen was stocked with dishes you would need. There were movies and games for rainy days or just having fun. We ate lunch on the deck. The condo is stocked with beach toys......we used the net to look for shells and sea life. Lol. Has a beach umbrella and towels. And a lot of other stuff. If you are looking for a great place to eat......we loved Dewey's in Destin. You HAVE to get the smoked tuna dip!!! We went twice bc of the dip and got some to take home, also! It was a great condo and a relaxing vacation. Hope to be back for another "mommy time" :)
After living on the Emerald Coast for 3 years, we had the opportunity to return for a wedding. We decided to rent the Blue Mountain Condo and were not disappointed. This beachfront property offered beautiful views of the gulf and was only steps from the beach. It's in a great location and close to many amenities. The property is a bit dated but that makes no difference when the views are so spectacular. If you are looking for a quiet beach get-away, this is the place for you.
we had a wonderful time in this condo. it had everything we needed and the beach was completely awesome. blue mountain creamery is a MUST! best ice cream ever. big daddy's bike rental, a cheap fun way to ride around the area! these people are great, they deliver and pick up bikes. beach chair rental is a must! everyday we had people bringing their big huge cabana tents down and having to set up and tie down...(well some didn't tie down and ended up bending a rented umbrella) anyway, it's worth the money! he sets up and takes down each day your there. no worries, just pack your cooler and beach towel and head out to the beach, perfect! the condo is on the 2nd floor and we quickly figured out how great it was, as being on the 1st floor you can't actually see the beach from your patio. we loved this place and will definitely return.
**we did have a few issues, the beds were too soft for us, and Nicks restaurant that was recommended by so many... lets just say we never figured that one out and every local we asked said stay away from Nicks! Overall the trip was exactly what we needed and expected! thanks Grace Daniels for a fabulous stay.
We loved our stay at Blue Mountain Villas. The location is perfect, and the interior was perfect. There are two queen-sized beds in one large bedroom, and both are comfortable.
Let me just say WONDERFUL! The condo décor is modern and eclectic, very unusual for a beach rental (just as you see in the pictures, no surprises). It is comfortable and inviting, with personal touches - like being a guest in a home rather than in an investment property. It is an older building, but I can't complain about the unit. Everything worked, it was fully stocked, and full of interesting decorative touches. The beds were very comfortable, and the linens were wonderful. The condo was clean and had new carpet. The owner provided a comprehensive list of recommendations and things to do and her restaurant recommendations were Spot ON! I highly recommend sticking to the list. We followed the list and had nothing but good meals! The location was perfect - easy to find, right on the beach, and close to restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed riding bikes along 30A and stopping at various restaurants, galleries, parks, and shops. We brought our bikes but there are plenty of bike rental shops. I've never seen so many bike rentals. There's a broad sidewalk/bikeway called the Timpochee Trail that extends about 18 miles along 30A through Santa Rosa, Blue Mountain, Grayton, Watercolor, Seaside, Rosemay and Alys Beaches. And the beach is so beautiful in this area. White sands, clear emerald green water. Great for beach walking. I've been renting condos on the Gulf for 30 years or so and this was one of the best experiences I've had. Thanks for a wonderful get away!
