Kailua-Kona Condo Rental Photos and Description

2 BR/ 2 BA next to beach with partial ocean views and mountain views

We have 2 spacious bedrooms and bathrooms and similarly large living room, lanai, dining room and kitchen. The kitchen is stocked with all of your cooking needs in mind. There is a covered parking spot and additional parking in visitor spots as well.

Gentle breezes all day and night keep you relaxed and comfortable. Plenty of room for 4 people to enjoy paradise and still feel all the comforts of home. There is a big patio area (covered) adjoining the pool where there are 4 gas grills for cooking whatever you like to barbeque. There is a large pool and large outdoor hot-tub Jacuzzi, pool table and saunas for helping work out the kinks you bring from the mainland.

Our property has beautiful tropical plants and vegetation with unbelievebly gorgeous flowers and subtle flower whiffs that tantalize your senses and make the relaxation all the better.

The tennis courts on our property are well-maintained and free to our guests. We keep boogie boards, beach chairs and coolers for picnics in the condo so you can travel around the island and don't need to buy these things.

Our condo is NOT wheelchair accessible b/c there are 7 stair-steps up or down from the elevator. We have a screen door that can be locked on the front door to enjoy the breezes all day and night.

About Kathy or Martin

We live and work in Colorado and can't get to our second home as much as we would like. We know you will enjoy it as much as we do; that makes it more fun for us to share this slice of heaven!

Kathy or Martin purchased this condo in 2005

Why Kathy or Martin chose Kona Coast

We owned a condo in Vail, CO for years and decided we enjoyed the tropics and the relaxation we find in Hawaii more. White Sands puts us at the beach and is a beautiful place to lounge at the pool, relax on the lanai and jump off to some of the most unique and incredibly beautiful places in the world.

What makes this condo unique

You can be gone from dawn 'til after dark having some of the most amazing adventures of your life; or you can relax and stay at the property and beach the entire time.

#209, White Sands Village

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much for allowing me to stay in your lovely apartment.

White Sands is a lovely location, opposite the best beach in Kona and close enough to town to make commuting each day fairly easy.

The apartment is clean, tidy and well appointed although I didnt actually spend much time there apart from sleeping.

Good WiFi is important for me when working so i was pleased that you had this in place.

Thanks again and I'd be happy to book with you again or to recommend this apartment to friends

Knocking on Heaven's door

  • 5 of 5

The Big Island is absolutly Heaven and this condo is superbly situated to discover all of it. Everything you need is already in the condo, even boogie boards and an ice cooler for your picnics. We especially appreciated the little beach just out front; with the bedroom window open you are lulled to sleep with the sound of the waves. FIVE STARS!!

White Sands Village, Spring Break 2016

  • 4 of 5

My family booked the condo for Spring Break 20016. It was great. The condo is located right across the street from one of the nicest beaches around the Kona area. It even has a life guard. It really had everything our family needed, we have two teenage girls(13 +17), including boogie boards and snorkel gear. We cooked at the condo almost every night. Actually one of the great things about this condo is the way the BBQ’s are set up in a common area that is really quite social. The residents are great about sharing with the visitors all of the secretes they have learned by living there. The other visitor share what was worth seeing and what you probably would be fine if you skipped it. The grounds are really kept nice. Not having air-conditioning was not an issue, the fans are very adequate. No ant issue either, though we did keep the counters clean. Kathy was easy to work with; it was a vacation my family will cherish. My husband, who is an engineer, had one complaint. I get it, that if this is what you have to complain about our trip must have been awesome, and it was. But what really bothered him was the refrigerator doors open the wrong direction. It didn’t bother me so much but I think it’s an Engineer thing.

A wonderful location, great condo!

  • 5 of 5

The condo is as described, well supplied with towels, utensils and all the necessaries for a good vacation.

In late March, lava outcroppings make entrance to the water slightly difficult when the currents are strong. But there are other great beaches.

This is a really comfortable and easy place to fit into.

A Visit in Paradise

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed this condo. One of our favorite features was having two bathrooms and one with a tub since I prefer baths to showers. The interior was nicely furnished and the kitchen had everything a guest could ask for.

What we didn't care for was the fact that the balconies look at each other across a courtyard. Even if you're at the dining table you are looking at the neighbor decks and vice versa. Consequently, we never used the deck and felt the construction to be an odd design. Windows and sliders are somewhat hard to open and noisy because they are older single pane aluminum frame.

We didn't use any of the amenities (pool, sauna, tennis, etc) since we live in a retirement community and have all of these things available. It is most likely a nice extra, especially for guests with children.

Overall we enjoyed our visit and had fun exploring the big island.

Owner's Response: The architectural feature of White Sands Village is to allow all units to have some ocean views. This means there is about a 150-200 foot distance between opposite buildings at an angle. You need binoculars to see what is going on across the open courtyard to the other units. The units are very quiet because we are all-concrete construction. Very consistently enforced quiet hours (10 pm to 8 am) by the on-site resident manager keep the area pleasant for all who stay. The screen doors get wonky from the damage the ocean salty air wreaks on all things metal. They get regular maintenance and we leave WD-40 if guests opt to use it.

Beautifully equiped and very comfortable!

  • 4 of 5

We were delighted that it was stocked with basic pantry items and even some condiments in the fridge. There was plenty of extra linens and beach towels, as well as all kinds of activity gear. We were very greatful to have the use of all of those items....cooler, beach mats, chairs, umbrella, even 2 boogie boards. I have to admit that I was a bit concerned about the lack of air conditioning, but I was pleased to find that with the positioning of the sun to the unit and the flow of fresh air it kept the unit cool most of the time. There is some other type of Hvac venting that also surculated the air in the unit as well. The pool was great for an afternoon dip and the sun was over head until it went down in the evening. Sunsets from the pool were beautiful. The bathroom/shower at the pool was Brand New and beautiful!!! BBQ's were well equiped and a nice area to eat at if you so desired. I would highly recommend tjis unit to all of my friends! And Kathy was very helpful and accommodating, thanks Kathy!!!

Sunsets at the gorgeous White Sands beach across the street from the condo with palm treees in the foreground are a daily event.

Snorkeling is very popular at Kahalu'u beach 1 mile south of the condo, but you can snorkel at White Sands Beach, too!

Our favorite place to visit is the national park, Place of Refuge (or Pu'uhonua o Honaunau in Hawaiian). It is a historical site with 500 year old stone walls, petroglyphs, re-constructed temples and Hawaiian houses and some of the best tide pools, turtle sunning areas and a great beach for scuba, snorkeling, swimming and people-watching. It is worth the admission and the free parking. We go to the picnic area that faces the ocean to the south of the park---same route into area ---and watch the dolfins frolic right near the beach eating lunch at one of the many picnic tables available. This is about a 22 mile or a 45 min drive from the condo.

For one of the top 10 beaches in the world (Conde Nast magazine), drive 45 min to Hapuna Beach. There is a HUGE perfect pale sand beach over a mile wide. The waves are perfect for boogie-boarding, body-surfing and swimming. There is a snack shop, showers, bathrooms and changing rooms. There is a fantastic beach trail going north where you will see whales in the distance all Winter long (take binoculars). The best shave ice (snow cones on steroids) on the whole island (maybe the whole state) is 4-5 miles north of Hapuna and is fantastic for after-beach cooling off before dinner. It is right near the little town of Kawaihae.

We love to kayak at Captain Cook Bay (aka Kealakekua) and the snorkeling is so good a lot of the all-day cruises come to this bay for snorkeling, scuba, swimming and sea life watching (turtles, dolphins, birds).

Going to the east side of the island is another world; MUCH more rain and the tropical vegetation is thick and beautiful. There are waterfalls, world renowned botanical gardens and fantastic state parks. On the southeast side of the island is Volcanoes National Park that has incredible attractions like hiking through a former volcano crater, exploring caves and lava tubes, a fantastic hands on museum about the islands and their formation, hikes along the lava at the ocean's rim where you may be able to find some flowing lava depending on the way the volcano is erupting (remember--it is 2000 degrees--you don't want to get too close). Park service does try to keep people away from the lava---you won't accidentally stumble into it!

Notes:
White Sands Beach is 75 yds from the condo door. You can hear the surf at night to remind you that you are in paradise. It is also called 'Disappearing Sands Beach' since some of the sand will be 300 yds offshore during part of the winter. It is always perfect for sunbathing and beach-volley ball. Pahoe-hoe park is 1 block away and is where the locals practice hula on Saturday mornings right on the oceanfront. There is a free open-air bus that picks up right near this park that is for tourists traveling along the road from Keahou to Kailua Kona. The condo is right between those 2 communities in a nice quiet area. Although there is no central heat and air conditioning, rooms come equipped with ceiling and floor fans and screens to allow the beach breezes to keep the rooms very comfortable year round.
