About Gianni Franceschi
Dear Tenants, I was born in Lanusei Sardinia. At the age of 18th I came to The Netherlands where since 1976 I'm working for The Dow Chemical Company in Terneuzen. Beside my own job, I began with the renting of some vacation homes on the Eastern coast of Sardinia; these units belong to good friends of mine. The owner on place will welcome you with open arms, although, I do have all the responsibility for a smooth 'n proper running of your vacation 'n as intermediary 'tween you and the owner on spot.
Gianni Franceschi purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2015
Why Gianni Franceschi chose Lanusei
The province of Ogliastra includes most of the Gennargentu massif and has a very diversified territory, alternating mountains, valleys, plateaus and a portion of coast well known to tourists for the beautiful caves and inlets that characterize it. Paradisiacal creeks and pristine beaches for an exclusive holiday. The most best known creeks of the province of Ogliastra are certainly those in the Gulf of Orosei: Cala Luna and Cala Fuili; there are many beaches that are worth a visit: among them, we report two of them making part of the territory of Siniscola: Berchida and Capo Comino. Not only sea. The beauties of Sardinia do not stop at the beautiful coasts: the province of Nuoro offers the traveller a holiday that seeks the roots of the Sardinian culture, visiting the Museum of Life and Popular Traditions in Nuoro, and the Museum of the Masks in Mamoiada, discovering unique places like the hidden village of Tiscali. Tourism in the territory of Nuoro is a type of tourism that has some of the traditional holidays: a little bit of research of the identity of the typical locations made by the expert traveller, and a bit of the attraction that the region has on anyone who can penetrate the surface getting to know the essence.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
Ogliastra has a great variety of coastal scenery. In the north, overhanging limestone cliffs are punctuated by quiet sandy bays, such as the famous Cala Goloritzè, reachable only on foot or by boat: Ogliastra is the perfect place for trekking. Further south, at Arbatax, Tortolì and Gairo, broad sandy beaches such as Cea, San Gemiliano, Orrì, and Musculedda alternate with rocks of red porphyry, granite or Coccorocci's unusual black beach. Ogliastra is one of those marvellous places in which, between the mountains and the sea, you discover a different view around each corner. Ogliastra, with the beauty of its coastline and mountainous interior, is Sardinia's most recently-discovered tourist destination. This corner of the island, bounded by the mountains and the sea, offers an unlimited number of unique attractions for visitors. A paradise of remarkable beauty situated on the east coast of Sardinia: here Nature offers the best of itself. The name Ogliastra is said to come from the Olivastri, olive trees, found all over this area, though others say it's derived from the Agugliastra (or Pedra Longa), the limestone monolith on the coastline of Baunei. Ogliastra's coastline contains beautiful oases of sand wedged between the sea and the surrounding cliffs, and is one of the Mediterranean's most charming marine landscapes.

Brilliant location, wonderful house, welcoming hosts
Thank you for an amazing holiday. House was wonderful, booking process very straightforward, hosts so kind and welcoming.
A beautiful property in a great location surrounded by nature.
The property had everything we needed as a family and the kind owners left a thoughtful care package of homemade produce for us to enjoy. The house was clean and had all the amenities needed. It is in a great location, close enough to the beach and within easy reach of the mountains. Many walks in the surrounding areas. The owners were very kind and communication was excellent. We would highly recommend!
Great place, great people!
Super comfortable and functional house with a breathtaking view! Very nice people. A great base for sightseeing.
On behalf of Carla and Paolo many thanks for your review Paul. Hoping to see you again in the future. Cheers, Gianni.
Peacefull stay with beautiful view
This house is settled in the nature surrounded by a grape land and some cork trees. The view from the parking lot and from the terrace was amazing. You can see over the shore.
The owner family was very friendly and helpful. They brought us fresh vegetables.
The house is comfortable: a spacious dining room, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a utility room. The kitchen was well equipped and already contained some basic ingredients like sugar, salt, olive oil etc. The beautiful sandy beach Cea about 10-15 min by car and there are some trekking lines around the small city Lanusei.
Sardinia (called Ichnusa in ancient times) has known many strange rulers over the centuries (eg Phoenicians, Romans, Vandals). You can find traces of this throughout the island. There are 7,000 remnants of the mystical, fascinating Nuraghe towers in Sardinia. These defensive residential towers from the prehistoric Bronze Age and Iron Age date from 2,000 to 200 years before Christ. They are scattered throughout the island. The most famous Nuraghe complexes of Sardinia are Su Nuraxi at Barumini and Losa at Abbasanta. In the archaeological museums in Cagliari, Sassari and Nuoro you can see beautiful excavated artefacts, such as bronze statues and utensils.
Everywhere in Sardinia you will find Domus de Janas (fehouse houses), these are prehistoric burial chambers. These spaces carved out by human hands in the rock formations are characterized by rectangular openings. Roman ruins can be found in Tharros in the west and Nora in the south of Sardinia. You can visit a well-preserved Amphitheater in Cagliari. Northeast of Oristano along the Tirso River lie the Roman Baths of Fordongian with hot springs, where the local housewives still do their daily laundry.
