Our charming and inviting condo is located in sunny South Kihei, right in the heart of some of the best swimming and snorkel Beaches. (But there is also surfing and boogie boarding, and of course stand-up paddle boarding.) Actually right across from condo you can rent the board, cruise out and watch the turtles glide along with you.

‘It’s just too cool to describe’ as one guest told me after he announced that he wants to buy my condo.

Well back to the condo:

** View: Our front wall of this spacious condo has TOP to BOTTOM GLASS, making it bright and sunny all day long. (No worries we do have lanai shades to ‘cool’ things down if needed). By staying in our unit you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, park and coastline with the famous shore lines of Wailea and Makena Beach in the distance.

You can also see other islands like Lanai and Kahoolawe.

Being on the Top floor allows for UNOBSTRUCTED views and privacy throughout the whole unit.

While enjoying your morning and evening beverage on the lanai (patio), you can take in magnificent sun rises or sunsets.

From November through April you can witness the awesome sight of humpback whales frolicking in the ocean. (See wonderful picture taken from guest on my website).

This condo is our favorite ‘home away from home’ and we share with you everything we appreciate at our vacation.

Besides a remodeled and fully equipped kitchen we include some of our favorite books, CDs, Maui maps and tour guides, snorkel tips and activity guidebooks.

Also beach chairs, ice chest, sun umbrella, boogie boards and some snorkel gear.

We provide you with beach towels and also warm blankets for visiting Haleakala Mountain.

** Our bedroom has an upgraded comfy double pillow top KING Size mattress.

Designed for comfort but support at the same time, which is a MUST for my ‘achy’ little back. Without a good restful sleep my vacation mood

will drop into the ‘nagging zone’. (My husband’s words, not mine :-)

so he didn't mind spending the extra money there! We do have a small flat screen TV

as well. To keep things comfy at all seasons we have ceiling and standing fans besides our AC system.

Off the bedroom is our bathroom that includes a full tub/shower combo.

** Our spacious living area offers an upgraded sleeper sofa and even though we are trying our best to make sure that everybody is comfy we believe the condo is best suited for 2 adults and one or 2 kids. (Just because a sleeper couch will always feel like that.)

Off the living room we have a dining set for 4 and it’s my favorite place to respond to your e-mails while watching tourist play in the inviting crystal clear water outside.

You can pack light as the washer/dryer in the unit is convenient and loved by everyone.

You are a short walk to our Pool and BBQ area on the second floor.

*** Our Beaches: You can stroll along the white sandy beach of KAMAOLE BEACH 1, which is only a few comfortable steps away. Yes you have to cross the street, (there is a crosswalk) but it’s only a 20 mph speed limit and mostly there are just as many walkers as cars on the road. No long or steep hills to climb ever. Kamaole beach 1 is known for wide sandy shores, gentle surf and the least crowded. (Ranked as one of the top family beaches on Maui with no undercurrent or rocks for you to worry about) Ranked by GUESTS and not in a travel brochure (paid by advertisers,) but that’s just the way we like it. (Keeping things ‘quiet’.)

There is plenty of room for playing in the sand, sunbathing, reading and still have some privacy.

The beach is perfect for swimming and boogie boarding in the afternoon when a few gentle waves will roll in.

There are also many great snorkel spots for beginners, and you can start in about 4 feet of water and see colorful fishes or a turtle warming up by floating in the warm sallow water. (They are not dangerous +will move as soon as you come to close)

For the advanced swimmer, there is no end for how much fun you will have exploring out there.

If you stay for 2 weeks you could explore a NEW beach every day and only drive a few minutes. That includes the spectacular and famous Makenna Beach. (More info condo.)

** Stores and restaurants: Many of the best restaurants, bars and shopping centers are ALL within walking distance! (Including a grocery store with fresh produce open 24/7 within 2 blocks.) You can walk conveniently to many great nearby shops and restaurants or you can explore and splurge through the world famous shops, hotel bars and restaurants at WAILEA. “Wine and dine with the rich and famous as my friend calls it”, since she saw a few Hollywood stars there over the years. Yes you can drive there in 7 minutes and frequently we walk mornings from the condo to the hotels and go for a swim there before we head back. This is a great way to explore and maybe plan on coming back later.

Our unit is popular with wedding couples or guests, since it is very near the famous wedding resorts of Wailea and Makena Beach. (5-10 min.) but in a much ‘friendlier’ budget.

As long as you allow yourself to go out and explore the experiences will truly be magnificent. Our location on Maui is so simple and convenient it makes everything so much more stress free and doubles your relaxation time instantly. I know I am not the only one in love with this island and condo as many of my guests are returning year after year.

**About the condo building:

Island Surf is a relatively small complex, (about 30 vacation rental units) which keeps the pool uncrowded and very often you will be the only one there.

It has more the feeling of you being among the locals than tourists with many conveniences right there for you. You can take surf lessons right across from the condo or watch them try it from the condo lanai. You can also rent everything from surf or stand up paddle boards, kayaks, bikes and scooters.

The building is located right on South Kihei Rd. and is known for some traffic noise during peak hours but it slows down in the evening once people are gone from the beaches. Being on the top floor and the bedroom in the back gives ourunit a much more superior location than some other units below us or facing on S. Kihei Rd. directly.

About Dorli

Aloha, this is Sigi and Dorli the delighted owners! We are originally from Austria but call San Diego our ‘home base’ for almost 30 years now. (“Ja wier sprechen noch Deutsch”.)

With each passing year we are craving warmer climate, gentler oceans and the healing effects of that so very reliable sunshine nurturing our maturing bodies. We fell in love with Maui about 12 years ago and explored, investigated and mingled with locals to learn and understand this beautiful island from every angle. We discovered that the South Side has the most sunshine on the island, (which includes this South Kihei area) so we knew this is ‘just what the doctor ordered.’

Dorli purchased this condo in 2005

Why Dorli chose Maui

1.Safety:

The water of the beaches near the condo is calm (no undercurrent or big waves) and you can see the ground, which is SUPER important for me! (That would be Dorli and I need to know what I am stepping into!) Yes I am proud to say that we have tried ALL the beaches before investing in this location as there are so many options to choose from. We have been dragged out by a current or slammed with a surprising wave. Or should I say I have. Sigi took it like a man (no surprise there as he is from the same town then Arnold Schwarzenegger; and NO.. we never had a housekeeper so no worries but, I get ask this all the time )

To Sgi’s delight he can now leave me in the water alone attending to his rejuvenating 'power brake' (nap) under the beach umbrella while I frolic in the appealing ocean near the condo. He doesn’t miss the harsh awakening of my screams or the unsuccessful searches for my lost snorkel mask that got ripped off in a surprise ‘attack’ from an unsuspected wave. The water is save here. Yippee! It truly is paradise for all of us!

* We love CONVENIENCE.

The location of our condo allows us to walk to everything we need. Many top ranked beaches, visit stores to buy the perfect gift and splurge on many local and enticing restaurants, or just get that tempting mango ice cream .

* WE LOVE the open floor plan of this condo, with top to bottom glass in front, it allows for the outdoors to come into the unit.

* Private: Sometimes we just like to stay home and read a book or sun bathe in privacy and being up on the top allows for that.

* I come here often by myself and feel completely save in our neighborhood as a 'single' lady.

* It is pure bliss with a ‘don’t worry be happy kind of feeling in the air.’ Just wait once you are hear you will be humming it too.

What makes this condo unique

This unit has one of the most UNIQUE floor plans open, friendly and you feel like on top of the world. As one guest put it, ‘you can’t stop smiling’! Complete privacy and incredible unobstructed views of the ocean and shoreline are so astoundingly striking and put us in awe still, every time we stay here.

*We DON’T LIKE CROWDS!

Our condo is just far enough north, to be away from the huge timeshares and resorts, which makes 'our' beach the least crowded.

* Our unit is not facing S. Kihei Rd. so you will not be bothered by that street traffic plus with the bedroom is tucked away nicley in the back and super cozy and quiet.

* We enjoy the safety of this building, as many of our neighbors are living here full time. There is always somebody home, doors and windows are open and the brake-ins you hear about Maui do not happen in a building like ours.

* 4. I love doing yoga in the grass across the condo early mornings with the waves calming my mind while the first sunrays over Haleakala extend their golden rays along the horizon painting spectacular colors over the coastline. It's absolutely stunning and you have to come and explore on your own.

It would be so lovely to see you here and we promise you the best service possible. By renting with us, you are keeping our dream alive and in return we will try our VERY BEST to offer you as much guidance, and service as possible to make your stay comforting and enjoyable from the moment you are planning this trip. We can provide you with valuable Maui insights especially if traveling for the first time.

Just a quick thank you for letting us use your condo. What a great spot!! We loved the view from the lanai every day. It was fun to watch the beginner surfers out front. The palm trees made it special for me. It is amazing to see how much Maui has changed in the last year. I have been going to Maui for the last 30 years and have seen lots of changes. ( My in-laws live in Wailuku.) I can remember when Wailea was just palm trees and sand. I was shocked to see it all developed. I guess I hadn't been in that area in years. We had a boat take us from the Kihei landing to Makena area. There was a pod of dolphins that followed us. When we got there there where 2 sea turtles. It was really a beautiful moment.



The only thing at the condo was when I opened the curtains one day and a couple of the hooks broke. Sorry, but I found some more at Ace and put them up. The spares are in the kitchen drawer. Also on the dryer you may want to note where the vent is located. We had just been in a condo in Tahoe and it took us for ever to find the vent in the same kind of dryer. Every thing else was great.

Very comfotable furnishings and atmosphere.

We've stayed in Kihei over a dozen times, but this was our first visit to Island Surf. It's obvious that the owners have a love for their condo and their guests. We had a couple of minor issues crop up during our stay and we were very impressed how quickly they were addressed. This condo is in the heart of Kihei and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The view of the surfing beach, Molokini, and Kahoolawe is spectacular. We highly recommend staying here and plan to again.

Wonderful Views, Great Location, Well Appointed; But, Very Noisy Road & Park

The location in Kihei was centrally located and there was much to do within walking distance and many great beaches were just a few minutes away. The property was as advertised and had all the features and amenities one would expect. Of course the condo is dated as one can tell by the photos but everything was in excellent working order. We were very happy with the property and the amenities and the cleanliness of the unit and building. Even the local condo owners were cheerful and very helpful. Overall a great place and we had zero issues.

However, its difficult to find a place that has EVERYTHING you want, especially with a relatively low nightly rate. However, had we known that the road in front of the condo and between the beach was as noisy and busy as it was, we would never have selected this unit. We would've paid $20 more per night and stayed in a unit that was on the other side of the road. It was nearly impossible to enjoy the great balcony and views over-looking the beach/park/ocean due to car noise. Moreover, the beach is in a public park that is very busy so the constant chatter of people and barking dogs from 7am to 9pm also contributed to our not using the balcony. The property description did mention the road and the public park but it did not mention how noisy/busy they were. As a result of the noise, we drove to smaller beaches and spent most of our time away from the condo. If you want to have a relaxing vacation in Maui and hang out in your condo, beware of the urban cacophony barraging your senses with this location. Being 6 floors up did not help as we could hear every conversation occurring below us. One must trade-off a quieter location versus the convenience of being close to the action. If you want to go for convenience and you are OK with the noise then this is the place for you.

Just know that the awesome photo with the palm trees in front of the beach/ocean for this property is cropped. Immediately below the photo are power lines and a busy road and a surf school that is busy all day long. Other than the noise, the property was above average and well appointed and in a great location. I would've given the rating 4 stars if it weren't for the noise.

I was very impressed with Dorli's quick responses regarding her condo when I first wanted to book. She provided great instructions on parking, contact names should we have any questions and even asked if we needed any recommendations on places to visit. I absolutely love the fact that the condo is located on the top floor. The building seemed to be very quiet. My friend loved the information binder which even has suggestions on beaches and the best time to be in the water. The condo was extremely clean and tidy. It's spacious which was important because my friend and needed separate beds and room to spread our things out. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The shower worked great. The medicine cabinet even had bandages which I desperately needed, thanks to wearing flip flops for the first time this year! My friend and I were so thrilled with the kitchen and how everything we needed to cook was available. I think somewhere it said that the kitchen was provided with a starter kit. But actually, it was everything we needed to make meals! When I booked, I had no idea the beach was across the street because it reserved at the last minute. But the view from the deck is spectacular. I was concerned about noise coming drop the street but I didn't hear a peep. This is coming from someone who is always a light sleeper. I loved how the deck has a clothes rack and plenty of deck chairs. The living room is spacious and has a huge TV. We loved how the beach was just across the street. We walked everyone and didn't need to drive! I am SO pleased with this condo. I hope i can come back again! Thank you Dorli!!

Great location, lots of places to eat within walking distance. Condo had all the extras to use like coolers, lawn chairs, beach stuff, etc. Would stay there again! Owner was very responsive any time we had to contact him.

Another Great Stay in a Perfect Condo!

This was our third time at this beautiful condo in Maui. The location is awesome, across from the beach and within walking distance to shops and restaurants. We walked each morning to Charley Young beach for a snorkel and were never disappointed and saw turtles every snorkel! The condo is clean and equipped with all the amenities including coolers and beach chairs! We enjoyed our morning coffee on the lanai and even saw some whales out in the ocean. Each evening we sat on the lanai and were treated to beautiful sunsets. We are looking forward to our next stay in this lovely condo! It just doesn't get any better than this!

tropical island yes but at the same time you can find all the comfort you need, from organic health food stores to great local restaurant and shops in any price range. My mom needs a hairdresser once a week, no problem there is one on the ground level and a masseuse as well. )
