About Peggy Jenkins

Our Family lives approximately 2 hours from Rocky Top Lodge and are very active owners, meaning that we visit often to keep everything is A+ condition. After vacationing in the beautiful Smokey Mountains for many years, we decided to purchase our own cabin in 2011. It is truly our 2nd home and is decorated to feel like home. You will find my Southern Bell's (wife's) taste in every detail from the small decorations to large family table in the dining room. Her love and gentleness are what Rocky Top is all about. You'll experience it the moment you walk in the front door.

We are both Tennesseans; grew up in and raised our family in Tennessee. We love this part of the world and the Smoky Mountains are where we go for fun and relaxation. Rocky Top shows the Southern Country Charm that we grew up around and is a great example of the gentleness you would expect in the Appalachian Mountains. Come, visit, experience the way we live.

Peggy Jenkins purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Peggy Jenkins chose Tennessee

After visiting dozens of cabins and properties, we new Rocky Top was the one we wanted the minute we walked through the front door. As we walked through the front door, the beauty of the mountains came bursting through the glass wall on the opposite side of the room. The view was breath taking. Immediately, my wife said, 'this is the one!' It is truly the Crown on top of the mountain. You can touch the stars on a bright clear night and see dozens of mountains on a clear day. It is truly a Million Dollar View....

What makes this cabin unique

Smokey Mountain Cabin On Steroids!

  • 5 of 5

The love of my life and I brought our three Grandchildren to live in Rocky Top on the Peaceful Side of the Smokies the week prior to Halloween. We brought them back in hopes of seeing the Fall colors, little did we know they would be in our backyard! This Cabin has Unbelievable Views of the Majestic Smokey Mountains and the view changes throughout the day depending on the sun and clouds. Morning Coffee on the deck watching the Sunrise over the mountains was equally as breathtaking as Admiring the sunset from the back porch swing. Rocky Top is so well appointed with Every Quality Appliance You Could Need, Ample Dishware, Silverware and Cookware, Top of the Line Linens, Super Comfortable Beds, Big Screen TV’s with Satellite, Pool Table, Game Cube, Toys, Tons of Movies, 2 Beautiful Stone Fireplaces, Covered Hot Tub with Amazing Views that you never want to leave. If you get the chance after dark turn off every light in & outside of the Cabin, stand on the back porch take a deep breath and look up! Amazing!

Rocky Top boasts 2 Master Suites which was brilliant for us as our 16 year old Grandaughter loved having her own private Jacuzzi! Our little ones 6 & 7 were very happy to have their own bedrooms right off of the game room upstairs , their theory was they could play games in the middle of the night lol. There are only a few neighboring cabins nestled on this mountain side it is quiet, peaceful and secure. You need only bring clothes, food, toiletries, & don’t forget the Camera! We have been coming to the Smokies since the late 80’s and this is by far the Best, Well Maintained Cabin we have ever stayed in. Peggy & Roger are a Dream Team to rent from and they have thought of everything in this Rocky Top Cabin on Steroids! Thank you for sharing your home with our family! We Highly Recommend Rocky Top Lodge! While here We climbed to the top of Clingmons Dome, Bungee jumped, Rode Goats on the roof Coasters, Go carts at fast tracks, enjoyed the Dixie Stampede and had a blast at the wax museum. Our 16 year olds most used word was WOW , and the little ones kept saying Ginormous referring to the Cabin and its view! As A Famous Arnold Once Said I’ll Be Back!!!

Stunning view and cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Like other reviewers have said - I have stayed at countless cabins in the mountains of NC and TN. This cabin surpasses all the others! The view couldn't be more gorgeous. I just wish the leaves had cooperated. As most people know, the fall color is running a week behind this year. But we enjoyed our stay immensely nonetheless. Stayed Oct 21-25.

Stunning Home

  • 5 of 5

My family with 6 adults and 3 grandchildren stayed at Rocky Top and all agreed that it was an amazing home and vacation. The Jenkins family was very quick to respond with questions as we booked, prior to our arrival and once during the stay. The home was spotless and had every amenity to make cooking easy. The two cribs and highchairs, toys and movies were a wonderful addition. We all basked in the hot tub, played pool and foosball, along with sitting on the deck and enjoying the magnificent view. You only need to pack clothes and groceries. There was a store close by but the selection was limited.

The entire clan hiked Laurel Falls, rode the goat coaster and went horse back riding at Davey Crockett Stables. I would highly recommend all of these activities.

I would absolutely recommend this beautiful home and it was truly a pleasure to visit.

Great Getaway!

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I came to Rocky Top Lodge with 2 other couples, one couple with a 2 year old and the other with a 4 year old and 8 year old. We came up for a long weekend for the wives to run the Great Smoky Mountains Half Marathon.

Rocky Top Lodge is amazing! The location is great, the cabin is great, and it is stocked with practically anything you could need. The view is spectacular. I am so jealous of the huge kitchen. The hot tub is very nice and was especially good for the ladies after the 1/2. There is plenty of space so that nobody was ever on top of anybody else, and the large table was great for all of us to eat together. There were plenty of toys that the little kids enjoyed, especially the rocking horses, and the big kids enjoyed the pool table and the grill.

The surrounding areas are really beautiful too and I wish we had had more time to explore. And if you are in the area, you MUST eat at Elvira's Café. We all had brunch there before heading back home and it was fantastic. We also had lunch one day at the Black Bear Café which is also very good.

There is a minor issue with the large coffee pot, some sort of problem where it spills everywhere when you try to pour from it - though that did not stop us from getting caffeinated!

The only major issue is the deck. It really needs some repair. Some places have previously been repaired, but there are still several nail pops and loose and split boards. Most of these are around the hot tub, which is where you are most likely to be barefoot. I would NOT recommend going barefoot on the deck, especially at night. I seriously injured my foot the night before the race - luckily I was not there to run and this did not happen to one of the ladies or the kids. There are many signs around the cabin with the rules and checkout procedures and instructions on how to work things - which I thoroughly appreciate being a detailed person myself. Until the deck is fully repaired I would recommend an additional sign be added warning guests to wear shoes on the deck. I would have given a 5 star review, even with the deck issues, if my foot wasn't still killing me.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend and we are already talking about returning to the same cabin for next year's half marathon!

Couples week-end Trip

  • 5 of 5

We were a group that consisted of 4 couples and spent two nights at this beautiful chalet! The chalet is very large and consists of 4 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths. All of the bedrooms are a very good size with plenty of room. The kitchen is huge and is well equipped with plenty of pots, pans, casserole dishes, utensils, etc so you can cook anything with the numerous items available. There are numerous plates, cups, bowls, and glasses. The back deck is very large and has very nice outdoor furniture, a swing, small table for outdoor eating, and a gas grill. The view is one of the best! I would definitely stay here again as we have stayed in numerous cabins/chalets in the Gatlinburg area for many years and this was one of the nicest chalets we have stayed in. Townsend is a short three mile drive away if you prefer to go out for dinner. There are numerous items available for children as well and a game room with pool table upstairs. This is the place to stay if you want to be in the Townsend/Wears Valley area.
