What makes this apartment unique

The best reason for choosing "Rose House" is absolutely the peace and quietness. Those who have already been to Amalfi during the touristic season, know that the main square and the large part of the buildings placed on the sea are very noisy. That's because of people and vehicles, which are not ideal for a relaxing rest. Only 10 minutes away from the main square you can enjoy the beauty of the town in a peaceful location. Moreover, the free parking and Wi-Fi represent, for sure, important elements for the best choice. At a very competitive price, in a very large apartment, you can enjoy a great time

Great place to stay in Amalfi

  • 4 of 5

Mr. Raf was a good host with lots of great information on places to eat and things to do. The place is close to the town center and the water. There was plenty of room for 6 adults and the area was nice and quiet at night. Everything was clean and ready for our arrival and had everything we needed.

Dilapidated but convenient

  • 2 of 5

The beds were sagging so badly that we literally could not sleep. This “quiet” part of town is noisy with high schoolers early in the morning and vespas late at night. The hot water is minimal - even with military showers the 5 of us found it difficult to shower in rotation. There was a smell of sewer gas in both bathrooms and the kitchen early in the morning and when we came back at the end of the day. The gentleman who let us in was helpful and charming but I’d say other than the fact that it was in Amalfi it was a generally disappointing experience. We’ve stayed in many homes through VRBO over the years and loved all of them. Not this one.

Our family of 5 loved our stay! The location is great, very spacious, beautiful view from the balcony. Mr Raf was great, we tried all the restaurants he recommended and loved them all. Thank you Mr Raf and Theresa for opening this home to families like us:)

Great apartment and wonderful host

  • 5 of 5

Raf met us at the town square and guided us up to the apartment. Having parking was such a plus. The apartment is very large and well equipped. It is a bit up the hill from the tourist section but much quieter as a result. The walk down the hill was less than 10 minutes. The restaurant next door was excellent and the paper museum was across the street. We would highly recommend Raf's apartment. Grazie Raf!

Lovely home in Amalfi

  • 4 of 5

Although the weather was bad while we were in Amalfi and it was so touristy, we did enjoy staying in the VRBO apartment at the quiet end of town. It was spacious, very comfortable, had all the amenities that we needed. The manager, Mr Raf, could not have been more kind, accommodating and responsive. We were also happy to have a washing machine and a place to dry a load of laundry. That is not always the case. Sometimes you get a washing machine but there is no where convenient to dry your clothes. We were extremely happy with the accommodation and the management of the property. Thank you, Mr Raf.

Great Location, Beautiful setting

  • 4 of 5

The building was excellent having a great location not far from the main part of Amalfi (enjoyable 10 minute walk). Parking was great as Raf, the manager met us in Amalfi and got us permission to drive through the restricted pedestrian area where we left the large van for the rest of the trip. Kitchen was adequate and was reasonably stocked with staples upon arrival. Raf even gave us some biscuits, jam and milk for our first breakfast. For the most part we did not use the two room air conditioning units because the apartment had excellent flow through ventilation. We were surprised that the third bedroom was actually also the living area but were happy that it could be closed off from the hall, bathrooms and kitchen for privacy. The main deck and bedroom window opened to excellent views of the mountain and the town. The beds were adequate but mattresses a little soft. One of the toilets had no seat. Raf was a little defensive when we asked him about these things so be prepared that this is the "way it is intended". We had a problem with the drains in the two bathrooms but Raf quickly had them attended to while we were away in Capri for the day. There is a small supermercati in town where you can get most supplies and a few butcher and fish stores so you don't have to worry about cooking supplies. We enjoyed the variety of nearby restaurants. The apartment is located perfectly between the town and the beginning of the valley hiking trails. WIFI was provided by a mobile device which was sufficent for email and internet queries but not for live Skype or messenger calls.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your feedback! Just want to inform you that since the month of October we have now an UNLIMITED wi-fi where several devices can be plugged in, and it's better to underline this now otherwise future customers can think there is no wi-fi in the apartment. Also, the mobile device provided in the apartment was obviously able to make any sort of calls you wanted to have but in case of use all datas would have been finished and you could add extra € 10,00 for other 5 GB at your use. You were 6 people and so it's normal that all datas end up quickly, again you could charge other datas as indicated everywhere in the apartment. The seat on the toilet was very hard to be found as that series is very expensive and rare to find in Italy, but we have been able to find the right one and we have fixed it. We hope to host you again at Rose House in beautiful Amalfi.

Near the house there is the "Paper Museum", an old paper mill of the 16th century recently changed into a museum. Here they do guided tours and a demonstration of the process of production of the famous Amalfi's paper, nowdays still produced from Amatruda's papermill, the only mill still active.

Moreover in front of the museum you can access to an old road for a nice walking through the ancient "Valle delle ferriere" (Mill Valley) where you can see the rests of the ancient paper mills and some small and beatufil waterfalls, where to stop for a while and then you can find also the natural reserve with the biggest waterfall, of about 40 meters, called "Ferns' Waterfall" because of the presence of a prehistoric fern, species protected by UNESCO.
