About the property

PRIVATE TO PRIVATE RENTAL, offered by a private individual, not by a company of tourist accommodation. The house is offered in full, as permanent or seasonal rental for both short and long stays. Any case, it is a private rental for private, and therefore is governed by the Spanish Ley de Arrendamientos Urbanos, exempt from VAT. During the stay no service for breakfast, lunch or cleanings is provided.

Newly renovated, respecting the rustic cabins of the Pas Valley, but with all the amenities. Built in stone all of it original, its thick walls and large fireplace make it warm and inviting, with a simple, elegant and useful furniture. The ballasted roof, typical of the region allows for the integration in a unique and protected environment.

The house has a flat and cared prairie for 400 m2, fenced, allowing let the children play safely. It has a playhouse, a barbecue, a couple of tables outside on the porch under the sunny terrace and a couple of ash trees among which you can hang a hammock.

This prairie is inside a plot of 18,000 m2 that belongs to the state, which reaches the River Miera, and is crossed by several streams. One of these streams has a great natural pool to cool off in summer, which is accessed from within the plot.

The property has native tree species (ash, hazel ...), among which a large ancient oak and two millenarian beeches that have more than one meter in diameter.

The house is set in the unique landscape of the Pas Valley, a protected natural heritage, where nature and sustainable human activity have coexisted for centuries.

The scenery is evergreen, except when snow covers it. It is located in the upper valley of the River Miera, surrounded by towering mountains. Just 200 m from the house there are walls that often visit vultures and other raptors, that can be seen from the rooms.

The house is in a natural, unspoiled nature ("Cantabria, the earth as it was" was one of the slogans of the Government of Cantabria), while next to the road, with direct access, and 200 meters from the small group houses that constitute the district of La Concha, including an excellent typical restaurant (La Vieja Escuela), and the Pas Valley Museum.

It is 2 km from San Roque de Riomiera, typically “pasiego” town, which also has several restaurants, a local market on Sundays, and a sober and beautiful church.

Miera River, downstream, approaching the monumental town of Liérganes offers ponds and pebble beaches where you can enjoy bathing in summer.

The Sea and the Cantabrian beaches are excellent at 30 or 40 minutes, and the Natural Park of Cabárceno is 20 minutes away.

It can be accessed from the north (Santander, Liérganes, San Roque de Riomiera, La Concha), or from the south (Burgos, Espinosa de los Monteros, and the impressive Port of Lunada, which needs a lot of caution, especially in winter, but is worth a visit), through memorable landscapes, especially in spring.

The main activity is hiking to enjoy the mountains of Pas Valley. There are numerous paths and tracks, some of which pass by the house. It is also advisable to walk off route to the peaks of nearby mountains, some of them quite high (but safe).

The small Museo de los Valles Pasiegos offers a glimpse of traditional life in the area. Lierganes offers many attractions and activities.

You can enjoy the excellent cuisine of the area, and swim in the Miera River. With a little more time, we recommend visiting the spectacular Natural Park of Cabárceno, and the sandy beaches of Cantabria.

The Port of La Lunada offers amazing views from its balconies.

Surrounding the area there is a farm school that offers adventure activities, and an equestrian center.
