Real Log Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2-9)
This beautiful luxury log home has new furnishings throughout. Everything in this home is upgraded from the kitchen to the game room.
Tremendous views of Lake Nantahala and the Smoky Mountains from the two large decks. 30' ceilings on the second floor with wide open views from the family room and the kitchen. Relax by one of the two fireplaces. One wood burning in the living room and gas log fireplace in the master bedroom. One bedroom and one bath on the upper floor and three bedrooms and one bath on the bottom floor. Large TV and gameroom. This real log home is truly a neat place to vacation and just relax.
Our cabin is located about a quarter mile off of Wayah Rd which borders Lake Nantahala . (135 Ridge Top drive, Topton, NC) The roads are all paved to within a quarter mile of the cabin. The drive off Wayah Rd is gravel and has only one turn. This area is quiet, and very private. There are only a couple of cabins above us on the mountain. I have seen kids swimming off the dock. The lake never seems crowded. Usually only a couple of boats in view. Lakes End Cafe/Marina rents boats...it is about a mile from the cabin.
The cabin is about 1 1/2 hours from Asheville and 2 1/2 hours from Atlanta. The beds are all full size with one being a bunk bed with a twin size over top. Total sleeping is for 9.
The boat ramp on the lake is about a quarter mile from the neighborhood. It has a dock and you can swim, ski, fish, etc. The entrance to the boating area is about 100 yards east of our gravel drive. This is at 3,200 feet, so the water is always an emerald green color. The lake also has salmon. (only one on the east coast) I have not fished there yet, but I see bass boats and pontoon boats on the lake. The lake flows into Nantahala Gorge which has a lot of fly fishermen. The Nantahala Outdoor Center is less than a half hour away and you can enjoy rafting in the summer, dining and mountain biking there. The Great Smokey Mountain Railway is less than an hour away in Bryson City. The Lakes End Marina rents boats, call 828-321-3001 Lakes End Marina is about a mile away. Also Jeff at Nantahala Marine rents boats and will actually bring them to the dock and meet you which really makes it east to drive down, park, and take off for boating. 321-828-BOAT
Nantahala is the South's only lake with freshwater Salmon
Kokanee Salmon are the landlocked version of the Pacific Sockeye salmon. Stocked in Nantahala Lake in the early 1960's as forage for the predator population of Walleye, Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass, the salmon have been naturally reproducing ever since. The average Kokanee Salmon across the country is 12" with a few lakes producing larger fish. Nantahala is one of those lakes. The average salmon in Nantahala is 18" with many fish over 20".
We sleep 9 comfortably and the place is turn-key. There are 4 bedrooms. One bedroom has a bunk bed with a double on the bottom, and a single on top. All you need to bring is food.
Please see our website and select the Gallery for more pictures of the cabin, bedrooms, and surrounding area. There is also and Activities link for things to do in the area. (hiking, biking, rafting, etc) It is beautiful, you won’t be disappointed.

Huge cabin in the woods overlooking the Nantahala River!
Our family enjoyed this cabin during the Thanksgiving holiday. The kitchen had everything we needed. The home was very clean. The house was huge and accommodated our family very well. We were able to wash after a nice hike about a mile from the cabin. The hot tub was nice. It took a minute for it to get really hot but eventually it did. The drive up was not bad. The cabin is on a mountain so it would be nicer to drive up the first time during the day. If you are not use to it. We drove up in a 15 Passenger van. I wouldn’t try it when snow is on the ground. Otherwise we made it up without any problems. The views are gorgeous. Definitely worth the trip up the mountain. There were enough towels, blankets and pillows in every room. There were enough televisions also. We were able to make s’mores and build an awesome fire down by the fire pit! Overall, it was an awesome time to go even though we missed the beautiful Fall foliage! We will stay again. Summer, Spring or Fall has got to be even more incredibe to spend time in this area.
We pride ourselves in having great vacation experiences
Great views of lake.
Kitchen well stocked. Washer dryer helpful. Had great eclipse viewing!!!!!
Internet not dependable --not sure it was hooked into server.
Very nice place!
Would stay again.
Very nice and roomy cabin!
I rarely give negative reviews but I was disappointed in this property. We were a group of 4 women and 2 teenage girls traveling to the area for a wedding. First of all, a word of caution, the drive is very, very steep. When we entered the drive, we went to the left and ended up in the driveway of the second rental. we had to go back down , go down the road and turn around and start again. When you go up stay to the right of the drive!. we ended up at the 3rd cabin and had to back up and get a running start onto the final drive. If we had our husbands, it might not have been an issue , but for 6 women, it was daunting. The cabin itself was lovely but is in need of some attention. Based on the prior reviews, maybe we just got it on a "bad" day , but to make this review short, it had some broken furniture, dirty appliances, dirty deck furniture and deck, dirty windows. We only had what toilet paper was on the rolls and there was no extra , so we had to borrow 2 rolls from a family members' cabin. There was no stool to get into the hot tub so we had to stand on the lawn furniture to get in. There was a beer tab and a penny on the floor by the dresser so evidently the carpet wasn't vacuumed. They stated in the book to run the dishwasher, however there was no dishwasher detergent. We only found it because we accidentally found the key to the locked closet in the kitchen. They request that you wash a load of towels before you leave , but again, no detergent. Hopefully the towels that we used were washed with detergent . When I reached out to management , i was told that they can't provide supplies to wash our clothes. He evidently misread my email , because i said nothing about washing our clothing. I was washing his towels , per his instructions. We were in the area for a family wedding, and unfortunately our stay here put a damper on our trip. We had multiple family members in the area that were very pleased with their cabins, unfortunately we were not. If you are a group of women, I would pick a different cabin.
It was acceptable.
With all of the raving reviews, we had higher expectations. The property was acceptable yet there are several issues that, if attended to, would improve the experience a great deal. Our concerns/issues were as follows: upstairs bathroom sink lacked pressure and hot water, all tvs are difficult to operate (or did not at all due to either a tv or satellite issue), router for wifi had to be reset several times, key to door was testy and only worked well after we figured out that we had to apply pressure to lock, downstairs bathroom door rubbed on floor, and poison ivy grows on first floor deck where our kids brushed up against it several times. The property was clean but all of these small issues added up to a less-than-stellar experience for us. The property, in our opinions, did not align with the reviews it received.
Thank you for your feedback. The water issues stem from a community well issue and sediment in our water filters. This has been resolved. We have notified our caretaker and we will attend to any remaining issues immediately. We hope you will come back and enjoy a 5 star visit with us.
We had an amazing time!
It is an amzing place inside and outside. We had a wonderful time! Will definitely try and come back during fall.
within 20 minutes of Nanataha Outdoor Center for rafting and Tsali for mountain biking.
