The oldest studies philosophy and the youngest studies engineering and plays drums in a Rock band. My name is Christine I teach English to teenagers. BRUNO CLEMENT, CHRISTINE CLEMENT purchased this apartment in 1987

Why BRUNO CLEMENT, CHRISTINE CLEMENT chose Vieux Lyon - Quarantaine

The appartment is part of our house where we've been living for more than 20 years. It's a very typical, medieval little street. It looks like a village in the centre of the town with its tiny gardens and its fantastic views over the city and the Alps when it's clear. The city centre is at a walking distance and we never use our car to go out in town.

What makes this apartment unique

What is special in this appartment is that it is surrounded by trees and gardens, there's a stunning view over the city and you can walk anywhere in town.

Only Lyon has everything Paris has without the stress

  • 5 of 5

We were very impressed with Lyon on our first visit. The Gallo- Roman antiquity, the architecture from centuries gone by to the modern Perrache quarter and the food . Christine was a wonderful host and her apartment is well appointed and set high in the old quarter with an amazing view of the city which changes often. There are plenty of very good restaurants nearby as well as the ones in the more touristy areas. A number of very good food markets are easy to access. Christine knows all of these and plenty of very good walking routes around the different areas. Christine was very generous with her time, checking to see if we needed anything and marking out the walks, shopping areas & restaurants to try.

The access to the apartment is steep being in the old town but we really enjoyed all the walking. We are in our late 50’s and we would certainly recommend this apartment- we intend to return on our next trip to France.

Thank you to the Clement family for a lovely week in Lyon

Fabulous (if steep!) location, great spot to explore Lyon from!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely 5 days in Lyon before leaving our son there to study for a year!

It was super hot (over 30 degrees in August) but there were several fans to help cool us

We chose this apartment for it's location in the heart of Old Lyon - aside from not being suitable to those who may find steep walking hard, it is a beautiful location!

Slightly hair-raising experience parking the car (steep, narrow!) but the apartment gave great views over the City. Christine was super helpful (as was her son who let us in): we had a chat about areas to head to, & we followed a couple of routes she had mapped out which really took us all over the old part of Lyon.

Highly recommend Cafe Vert for a vegetarian meal & Brasserie Georges for an experience in a special old restaurent....plus plenty of other bars and cafes in Old Lyon to head to. René Nardone for ice creams and sundaes & to watch people walk by!

We walked a LOT, saw a lot, and loved the City: very happy our son chose Jean-Moulin 3 for his year abroad, I think he will have a great time!

Many thanks for letting us use your special apartment!

Wonderful Stay.

We arrived in Lyon late, after a long day of travel. Our host Christine had given us very clear instructions to get to and into the apartment and apologized for not being able to meet us in person. Instead she came up the next morning and gave us a very warm welcome, and a detailed overview (including walking map) of the best places to visit in the area. Her recommendations were excellent and I appreciated her knowledge of local businesses and restaurants, and the city's history. She was also kind enough to arrange a taxi on the morning of departure.

As for the cozy apartment, it was a lovely and unique aerie up high above the street. After walking for hours around the old town and beyond, the apartment was a quiet and light-filled space to relax. The beds were comfortable and the space clean. It had some unique features (at least to someone from Canada) such as some areas of sloped ceilings (one bumped head), a fun loft sleeping area for one, and a chemical toilet (Christine had to explain that one to us). A concern for some people would be the steep walk up the exterior cobblestone road to the apartment (cars are restricted), and the three interior stone staircases up to the apartment, the last one being a bit of a struggle after a long day). But if you are reasonably fit and enjoy a place that is historically interesting in a great neighbourhood with a responsive host, then this is a place to consider.

cute quiet apartment in terrific location

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in Christine and Bruno's lovely apartment overlooking the old city of Lyon. There were many interesting things to see and do very close by, so we spent our long weekend just walking without any need for transport.

The disadvantages of the apartment were clearly spelled out by Christine ahead of time: many steps up to the apartment and the low beams especially in the second bedroom. Small toilet.

Nevertheless we were pleased to have this quiet retreat and the kind support of the hosts who were agreeable and helpful

superb!!!

Very good location in a nice area of Lyon with lots of nice pubs and cafe's near by. Flat was clean and spacious with lovely views. The flat had all the mod cons that we required and Christine was on hand to give us some local tips on arrival. She even booked a taxi to pick us up from the airport.

Would love to stay here again if I'm back in lyon. Only drawback was a the very small toilet for 3 of us staying!
