The apartment "Fondazza 37" is located in one of the oldest and most picturesque streets of the historic center of Bologna, Via Fondazza, in front of the House-Museum of Giorgio Morandi (world-famous artist) and the beautiful Church-Convent of Santa Cristina . Quiet, large, experienced, rich in its own history and its own "flavor", reveals at first glance the deep bond with the owner's personality, known graphic artist, that has enhanced structural features tailored to the needs of life contemporary. Ideal for your vacation or stay to work, represents a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the Italian lifestyle and Bologna. In particular, the kitchen, spacious and livable, as was tradition in Italian homes, equipped with the necessary equipment to experience the most delicious dishes of Bolognese tradition, and the large, comfortable living room will offer you the thrill of a throwback. The apartment has air conditioning and heating, is on the second floor of an old building typical "old Bologna". It has five rooms: living room, 2 bedrooms, located on two levels, kitchen, small study, more bathroom with dressing. In the room on the lower floor there is a double bed, while upstairs the beds can be combined as a single or double. A comfortable sofa bed in the living room allows the acceptance of 6 guests.
My name is Paul, I was born in Porretta Terme, a charming mountain town between Emilia and Tuscany, but I have lived in Bologna since I was a child. I attended the Istituto Tecnico Industriale of Bologna and taught technology at the middle school. My biggest interests are photography and graphic design. The apartment that I made available to guests had, in fact, been for years, my study of advertising and graphics design and still tells about that activity. Now I have moved my studio to Porretta Terme in my grandfather's home where I have an art gallery. As a matter of fact the idea of renting this apartment was of my wife Alba, a former teacher of English who really likes dealing with people and meeting new people from all over the world. We like cinema best of all, but also music, art, reading, good cuisine and travelling. We really like to satisfy our guests' wishes, give them suggestions about Bologna way of life, help them to discover some little-known places of the city, nice restaurants, places of interest and so on.
Paolo Rippoliti purchased this apartment in 1986
Alba was in constant contact with me from the first day I inquired until the day before I left. On arrival(they were kind enough to meet me earlier than I originally stated), they had a bottle of champagne and cold water waiting. The apartment was very well located.....close to the two towers. I felt completely at home. I was really surprised at how quiet the apartment was, even during the day(I am a light sleeper). I found the apartment to be clean and cozy. It was nice to listen to their jazz and blues music while sipping wine in the quiet apartment. The washing machine worked wonderfully well and was a big help. I found the drying rack for the clothes and was amazed at how fast my clothes air dried.
The temperature inside was also very comfortable. I slept so well in the comfortable bed that I was finding it harder to get up.
I was able to walk to the train station within 25-30 mins. Also, it was close to good restaurants.
As a single female, I felt very safe(I came in late most nights and always felt safe walking in the area).
Overall this is one of the best apartments that I have ever rented. I actually felt as if I were in my own home. I liked that I could walk everywhere from this location. I really appreciated the owners hospitality. I hope to return and stay again soon. .
We stayed here over a long period of time with my family, and we're very happy to have found this place. It is really cosy, nice and clean. The location is very convenient. The hosts are extremely nice people, hospitable and very helpful. My son needed to stay extra 3 days in the appartment and the hosts allowed him to stay there for free. We're very greateful. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a home away from home in Bologna.
It is a great apartment. Very comfortable. It feels like home. The description is very accurate. It is very clean and well-maintained. Paolo and Alba, the owners, we're very, very welcoming and helpful. We did not have one bad meal during our stay. Actually the food was exceptional. The small restaurant two doors down Osteria via Fondazza was close and friendly, home style food.
My two friends and I stayed here for two weeks while attending a language school. Paolo and Alba met us at the apartment and welcomed us with genuine warmth. Alba had baked a delicious chocolate torte and there was also a bottle of wine. Paolo and Alba patiently went over the apartment details. They were also very helpful in helping us arrange a taxi on our departure. Their apartment is clean, cozy, quiet, and truly makes one feel at home in the beautiful city of Bologna. It is close to shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions, and the neighborhood is very safe. I look forward to returning some day.
We stayed for a week in this very cool, quirky apartment. The landlord is an artist and his work is on the walls. Paolo and Alba were great hosts, and quick to respond. We were travelling with a baby and they were very helpful in supplying a cot. Recommended!
"A lovely flat and lovely welcoming hosts! A bottle of wine waiting, a taxi booked for us when we left and restaurants recommended. The flat, comfortable and homely, is ideally placed for seeing all the wonderful sights in Bologna- 10 minutes interesting walk to the centre and a supermarket just round the corner. Quiet road with a feeling of security. 30 minutes walk to the railway station to explore the surrounding towns. We had a wonderful time!"
In the area of "Fondazza 37" there are all the most important tourist sites of Bologna such as the 'former Convent of Santa Cristina, which contains one of the largest blades of the Carracci, the International Museum of Music, Casa Carducci, the church Baraccano and, not least, the Giardini Margherita, the most beautiful city park. Adjacent streets, a wide choice of restaurants, bars, theaters, cinemas, museums, churches, shops and taverns, as well as open markets for fruits, vegetables, fish and meats. They are also two garages for a fee, two supermarkets and a wonderful patisserie, probably the best known, where to start your day with sweetness. Within walking distance are the two towers, icon of Bologna, and Piazza Maggiore, the true heart of the city. The providential old arcades protect your walks from the blazing sun or weather, while the eyes will be distracted by the many glittering shop windows. Fondazza 37 is connected with each destination with an efficient bus service, although you can make a visit to the city completely on foot.
