At a farm town church in the Midwest in 1968 a duet sang 'The Hawaiian Wedding Song' at our wedding. Guess that predicted the future! We split our time between Chicago, Maui, and wherever our grandchildren are, spending about four months each year in this condo. We love Maui, Hale Kamaole, Kam3 beach, and our Hawaiian home.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2004
We love the views, the space, the proximity to the beach, and the South Maui area in general. Here you feel you're really in Hawaii, not at a resort that could be on any beach anywhere.
The large park across the street, the closeness to the beach, our well-stocked lanai closet with everything from snorkeling gear to tennis rackets, the well stocked kitchen, the space in the condo, and the unobstructed ocean views from the lanai, the living room, the kitchen, even from the bedrooms.
We were a group of six, grandparents, 90 years young, my husband and myself and our two teenage sons. Hale Kameole is at the far south end of Kihei and is very quiet. The condo was perfect for our stay, the seniors on the main floor and the rest of us upstairs. There is an elevator, so no problem with stairs. The teenagers enjoyed their loft space and I liked that it was out of sight so I didn't have to see their messy room. The condo was very well stocked with all the necessities and more. The fridge had jam, butter, mustard and other condiments left from previous guests, which was great not having to buy all those extras. The closet on the lanai has everything you need for the beach. Our boys loved using the boogie boards and flippers(we had brought our own masks and snorkels). There is an info book in the suite put together by Janet and Dennis that is very helpful for choosing restaurants, beaches, etc. and the information is spot on. We swam with turtles every day. Snorkeling was fantastic and the beach just across the street wasn't crowded, even though it was spring break, and great fish sightings just to the south of Kam 3. We would grab a beach chair and a glass of wine and walk across the street to take in the sunset. The people we met at Hale Kameole were all so friendly, a few were retirees who spend months there. One of the highlights was the conch band at sunset....a memorable happy time was had by all.
We stayed in March for my birthday celebration with 3 adult children. The accommodation was perfect with enough space to for all. The view of the deck was great- lots of extras, well stocked basics in the kitchen. The nice thing was we were able to leave our big bags for 2 nites before as there was no one checked in as we were staying at the KeiLani for 2 nites and didn't need everything. The only negative was the extra loft mattress. My son had to use the other mattress on top for comfort. Maybe an extra foam mattress would help. We are returning this spring staying at another 1 bedrmHK condo. Love the area and closeness of the beaches.
I stayed with my family of 4 and loved the condo and location. I have been to Maui 10 times but have to say this is one of my favorite locations. I loved being across the street from a great beach and within walking distance of many fun places in Kehei. The unit served our purposes very well. The hide away was not comfortable so my son just laid the mattress on the floor and slept there. The bedrooms were a nice size and plenty of room to move around in. I did feel the bathrooms could use a little updating--even newer shower curtain would be nice. When we had an issue with the cable box, I emailed the owner and it was taken care of the very same day. Extremely well stocked with snorkel gear, beach amenities, etc. Best I have ever had. It was a quiet complex as well. I will definitely stay here again.
We recently returned from our wonderful Maui vacation! We rented #307 from Janet & Dennis who were amazing and very accommodating even when our travel plans were affected by weather.
As a family of 6 (3 generations--ages 10 to 72) we had plenty of space and everything that we needed was right there. The games for the kids and especially the beach and recreational gear in the closet were phenomenal. Although I do have to say the skim board takes a little more practice than I expected;). The boys spent several hours playing tennis at the on-site courts.
Spent several nights enjoying the beautiful sunset right across the street but we were a short drive away from many other activities. We were also a short walk down the street from several good restaurants. Mmmmmmm good.
We HIGHLY recommend HK 307 and look forward to going back someday soon.
Thank you Dennis and Janet!!!!!!!
We stayed in this unit in February 2014. We shared the unit with our son , our daughter-in-law, our daughter and our three grandsons. The unit was very spacious and perfect for our large family. The unit was very clean and very well equipped. The owners thought of everything: beach chairs, toys, dvd’s and a kitchen equipped with everything needed to prepare all our meals.
We had a view of the ocean from our deck and beautiful Kamaole Beach 3 and Park were just a few steps away across the street.
Dennis and Janet provided us with lots of information on the unit, the complex and numerous suggestions for restaurants and other very useful information about Maui.
We would certainly rent this unit again and highly recommend it to anyone planning to visit and stay in beautiful Kihei.
Our family of 6 plus my aunt-in-law (7 total) enjoyed 9 nights at Hale Kamaole.
This unit was an ideal place for us & met our needs perfectly. There is a great beach just across the street. We went snorkeling 4 times at Kami III beach and swam with sea turtles each of the 4 times!! The beach has great sand, mixed with some lava rock. Most of the time it was fairly calm & was great for snorkeling & building sandcastles, etc.
Our 4 kids had a great time going from the pool (which is directly in front of the unit) to the beach multiple times each day. As you will note from other reviews, the lanai closet is well-stocked with all kinds of beach gear, along with tennis racquets (which we used lots), balls and even charcoal briquets for the group BBQs. We ended up loading up the beach chairs, boogie boards and other gear into the back of our rental van & pretty much just driving around with it in the back of our van the whole time (rather than carting it in/out of the unit each day) - this worked really well for us. We had brought some of our own masks/snorkels/fins but did use some of the sets that were in the lanai closet. The gear in the closet was well-used but generally in good enough shape to enjoy.
The unit itself is clean & was spacious enough for our family to relax & hang out in. The 4 kids slept on the 2 pull out sofas (one up in the loft, the other in the living room - on the main floor), while my wife & I slept in the master BR - upstairs & my wife's aunt slept in the 2nd bedroom. The units were built in the 70's & certainly are not brand new but the villa is very well maintained & we had absolutely no issues with anything not working or in a poor state of repair. The units vary significantly from one to the next, in terms of updating -- we went to a couple of open houses within the villa while we were there & saw a couple of extremely-dated units and a couple that were nicely updated. This unit has definitely been updated but I suspect that it was done some time ago. The pictures on VRBO are pretty much exactly what you will get -- no surprises.
As other reviews I recall reading mentioned, the place is also VERY well stocked in terms of kitchen supplies & utensils. We did a Costco pit-stop upon landing in Kahului & that pretty much covered us for the entire time!
Janet & Dennis were great to deal with & lots of emails were exchanged prior to departing for our trip! The villa is super-friendly - lots of chatting
