About Lance Craighead
A lifelong conservation biologist. I was born in Jackson and have lived in and around here most of my life. I'm hoping to retire one of these days (I'm 68) and we're hoping that renting this cabin will help make that happen. We live in Bozeman, Montana, currently and have a property manager to help guests settle in and deal with any problems. I love travelling and would like to provide an opportunity for others to live within easy reach of Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks for a while.
Lance Craighead purchased this Cabin in 1945
Why Lance Craighead chose Moose
My father and uncle bought 14 acres here right after World War II. Not long afterwards Grand Teton National Park was established and as the Park expanded it eventually surrounded the property.
What makes this Cabin unique
Like having a wonderful hotel suite all alone in front of the mountains. The Tetons are truly awesome at any time of day or night and the view is constantly changing with the light and the weather. Grand Teton National Park is literally minutes away, and Yellowstone National Park is about 45 minutes North.

This cabin is perfect! There is a fabulous view of the Tetons. It’s lovely, clean and private. We will come back for a third time!!
Exceeded All Expectations
We pulled in on 9/10 and were blown away by the cabin and the location. The cabin was spotless and set up perfectly. It is so well insulated that we almost never used the heat even though the temp reached the low 30’s every night. The majestic Tetons can’t really be portrayed in photos - the view from the cabin porch is absolutely spectacular! What a great base location for doing all the things we love. We had a great horse trail rise at Swift Creek Outfitters in Moran. We enjoyed hikes at Moose Ponds, String Lake, Taggard Lake (wow), and more. We did the Moose Ponds trail again with a Ranger lead hike (very informative) and got to see our first moose in the wild! Jackson was great as well with friendly people, great food and plenty of shopping. We also took the tram in Teton Village to the summit of Rendezvous Mountain which was well worth it. We will miss morning coffee and evening wine soaking in the view of the Grand Teton range. How could you ever get enough? This is one of our favorite places and Lord willing we will be back again.
Great place if the best location. So beautiful. great accommodations and supplies. Cannot say enough great about being able to get away in this beautiful place. Close enough to be far away. The best airport ever just fly in here and you are all set a few minutes from the house.
Amazing cabin and views!
Bison, Elk, Pronghorns, Moose, and we even ran into a Bear with her 2 cubs on one of the hikes. Great views. We will go back.
We had a spectacular time at the Moose cabin. The cabin is just as shown. It was a short drive to Jackson and sites in the park. We particularly loved the amazing view of the Tetons out the front and wildlife watching out the back!
Nature at its best
Imagine waking up to snow topped mountains just out your front windows with bison grazing out in the back! So perfect for our family to get the whole Teton experience!
The cabin is located at 13040 Craighead Lane in the middle of a National Park (Grand Teton) with lots of wildlife and incredible views. During winter the lane is closed by snow; you need to park in a space along Antelope Flats Road and ski/walk/snowshoe about 1/4 mile to the cabin. We provide sleds for hauling your luggage but the rest is up to you. The cabin has unobstructed views in all directions with the Teton Range directly to the west; the view is constantly changing from the alpenglow at sunrise, to deep shadows in the afternoon, to sunset; thunderstorms and moonlight. You can spend days just watching the weather go by; or travel around the valley and the parks looking for wildlife. Sometimes the wildlife come to you at the front door.
We have a propane grill outside. All the major appliances are brand new (2014) including a washer/dryer, fridge, electric stove, microwave and dishwasher. There's also a coffee maker, coffee grinder, blender, toaster and crock pot.
There is satellite TV with the basic channels and a DVD player. Satellite internet with a local WiFi. No land line phone but cell coverage is adequate.
The cabin sleeps 4 comfortably; a bedroom with a queen size bed, and a second bedroom with two twin beds. There is a leather couch that folds out for additional space (good for sleeping bags).
