In Provence, this rural 12th Century Chateau apartment, in a luxury setting, with shared pool & tennis court is a self-catering rental apartment with internet/wifi. Swim in the pool. Bring tennis needs. . Gardens, a night-lit boules court, security gates & ample parking.

Sleeps 4: queen-size bed & two king-size singles, wardrobes, windows in each with wood shutters. 2 bath/showers. Washing machine & dryer, iron & I-board.

Bright, open lounge-dining area. Lounge seats 6, dining table for 6. Patio setting seats 4, no bbq, 290 degree views. . Kitchen has an electric & gas cooker, fridge, dishwasher & microwave. Self-catering, well-equipped kitchen leads to private patio. Allotted 2 sun lounges by the pool. Walk to or picnic by the river, 15 minutes.

Colorful markets (biggest is Lorgues on Tuesdays), medieval villages & a variety of good restaurants, horse riding, canoeing, golf courses, walk trails, swimming, wine tasting & summer concerts. Drive to golf, 25 minutes, or beach 50kms - St Maxime, St Tropez or Cannes, Provence.

Lorgues - July 2010

We had a truly enjoyable time at the Chateau with our family of 3 teenagers. My parents were staying at an adjacent house in the grounds and two of our children stayed with them. This place does sleep 4 only. There are about 6 villas as part of the Chateau set-up, so the place works well for multiple groups who want to holiday together. When we stayed there were 3 or 4 other groups that came and went and there was no sense that anyone was intruding on anyone else. The layout is designed so that each place has it's own bit of privacy, although this place is on the second floor only, so that does not apply. There is a small verandah outside the kitchen but we didn't really use it as the weather was hot (always above 30 degrees) and it gets sun throughout the day. We didn't cook at this place as it suited us to do that at the place my parents were at. The kitchen is simple and fairly spartan but has all the basics. The living area, bathrooms and bedrooms all have a very pleasant feel about them and being on the second floor, the view from all directions is definitley attractive. In fact the grounds overall were probably the nicest feature and are well maintained. The photos don't really do justice to the grounds. The pool is fantastic, large, most of it is deep and was perfect for our kids who like a bit of room. It has security fencing and would also be fine for toddlers under supervision.

Within easy driving distance is Lorgues (2 good supermarkets) and several other villages, which all have market days. We also visited Moustiers-Sainte-Marie and kayaked in the Gorges de Verdon, which was a good outing and went down to St Tropez which was fun. There's certainly a variety of choices if you want to be active.

A place worth to stay

We had an enjoyable time at the Chateau with our daughter. There are several places as part of the Chateau set-up, most of them in english speaking family-hand. But naturally each place has it's own bit of privacy. There is a small verandah outside the kitchen we used especially for breakfast and when the sun was going down.We did cook sometimes at this place for lunch.as The kitchen is simple and fairly spartan but has all the basics (apart a real coffee-machine).The living area, bathrooms and bedrooms were all cosy, but the best view was from the verandah. The photos don't really do justice to the grounds and the interior too.. The pool is great, most of it is deep and the place around too. Normally there were enough pool-beds and sun umbrellas.

Within 10 minutes driving distance is Lorgues (2 good supermarkets and a variety of restaurants) and around are several vinyards for taste and buy. We also visited a lot of places nearby or in a middle distance; but even did three times the yourney to various beaches.which was fun. It was a good mixture between lazyness and activities. A place in the provence worth visting.

Saint Tropez, Saint Maxime, Cannes, Nice, Aix En Provence in relatively close proximity. From Chateau de Mappe, a 5 km drive takes you to the picturesque village of the medieval village of Lorgues with its delightful restaurants, sidewalk cafes, 2 large supermarkets and a vibrant Provencal market held on Tuesdays. Of 15 Golf courses in the Var, St Endreol (25 minutes away) is one of the loveliest in Provence. Walking, canoeing, horse riding, cultural and historical delights and live music events are close by. The coast is approximately 50 kilometres drive to Cannes, St Maxime, & Aix En Provence and the mountainous Gorges du Verdon are approximately one and a half hours drive.

Other Activities: canoeing, tennis, boules, movies, wine tasting, various markets. Golf 25 mins drive.
