Something to remember for life

  • 4 of 5

Hello Fabio and Urszula,We loved our stay at the Farmhouse. The location was very close to Siena, and easy drive to get to. We went to see Siena by night with Fabio as personal guide and it was amazing beautifull. The farmhouse is charming. We were very happy with the pool.We were here for a week. The hosts are wonderfull. We will remember Fabio and Urszula for life , Fabio is a great person with a big hart for his guests and Urszula also. After we unload our car, Fabio guided us to the local store. During our stay he brought us a tasty selection of vegetables and pomodori and "courgette". Fabio made dinner reservations for us at a nice restaurant where he delivers. We appreciate everything Fabio and Urszula give to us: food, wine ,olive oil but especially the good memories.

Greets from Sam,Cédric and Naomi

Bad location

  • 1 of 5

For my family (2 adults – 2 children) this place was a huge disappointment.

But I want say a few positive things also. The property owners were really kind and I have mixed emotions to write this review. In addition the apartment is also nice, clean, more equipped and modern than other Tuscan Villas.

However the location is not good and I know this can be discussed. For me Tuscany is many things – but one essential thing is the scenic landscape. Tuscany is BIG and the landscape is very diverse, from vineyards, forest to areas with almost no vegetation. There nothing positive to say about the location here in my humble opinion. When it’s 35 degrees outside and you have kids, you want to spend some time at the pool. The pool area is not at all good, it’s messy, smells weird and not a place you want to be.

We booked for one week and we spend less than 24 hours there before moving to another location.

For me this price is way too high for this place given its location and standard of the pool area.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review your stay and we appreciate the positive comments. We're sorry you didn't voice your complaints during your stay so we could have had an opportunity either to rectify the situation or to give some context and better understanding. In any case, we'd like to address some of your feedback, to help clarify for future guests. 1. The area we're in is conveniently located all the of sought after sites of interest in the Province of Siena. Our area is dubbed the "green heart of Tuscany" by the European Union and is very special - however, Italy, along with the rest of Southern Europe, has been hit with some of the highest temperatures ever recorded this summer and as a result of the drought the landscape is not as green as it would normally be. 2. As for the "messiness" of our place, we are a farmhouse and not a residence. The success and uniqueness of our place is linked to the the fact that guests have the chance to experience the real life of a functioning farm with all the activities that come with it. Rather than hide the realities of farm life, such as the equipment, we prefer to keep it visible. This is all intention and normally appreciated for its charm. 3. About the swimming pool: we can assure you that the water is perfectly clean. You arrived earlier than was previously expected and as a result we hadn't had the time to tidy up the area around the pool. If there was an odor, we were not aware of it and if you had brought it to our attention we would have investigated immediately. Normally those who choose us do so because they appreciate our ' green ' and our ecological approach to tourism . We are sorry if you didn't feel that way and we hope you enjoyed your stay in Tuscany

Quintessential Tuscan Charm

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the Farmhouse. The location was a close drive to Siena, and easy drive to get to. The farmhouse is charming in rustic style, but with some modern, well appointed features particularly in the bathrooms and kitchen. We enjoyed a dip in the pool also. We were only there 2 nights, but would be glad to return and stay for a much longer time. But the best thing was our hosts, Flavio and Urzsala. We arrived very late at night, without having had any dinner. After helping unload our car, Flavio drove with my husband and son to find us some food to bring back (found a local pizza place). Next morning he brought us a wonderful selection of fruits and baked items for breakfast. The following evening, he made dinner reservations for us at a lovely restaurant and then drove with us (in a separate car) so he could introduce us to the owners of the restaurant. They shared stories, showed us their cats and garden, and all in all were delightful.

Our vacation home in Tuscany.

Podere St Guisto di Sovicille

Have to confess that this one was a little hard to find, but after a quick stop at a local pharmacy in Sovicille and a very helpful American living in the area, we found our destination.

This was our first villa rental and with the warm reception from our hosts, Urszula and Fabio, we were quickly able to settle in for our week in Tuscany. The weather in late June was fantastic with sunshine every day and temperatures in the low to mid 30’s C. This 2 bedroom villa was well equipped and the backyard pool was a bonus after a hot day touring.

Fabio’s family has owned the property for approximately 200 years and he is very proud of the area and Siena. He quickly became our tour advisor and brought us croissants daily as well as tomatoes, garlic and plums from his gardens. He also produces excellent wine. We quickly learned that Fabio provided us with the best sight-seeing options available in the area and surrounding hilltop towns. There are hundreds of years of history here and Fabio is more than happy to share this love of his homeland.

The accommodations were spotlessly clean and equipped with all the modern conveniences (other than air conditioning) but the open windows and fan worked fine. The bathrooms in each bedroom were very modern and appropriate. The surrounding farming community is a great area for hiking or biking and extremely restful.

This is a great location for day trips to almost anywhere in Tuscany. Siena is about 8 kilometers away. There is a grocery store (COOP) just a few miles away and a local restaurant about a kilometer away. HINT, buy your wine in the grocery store, the prices are the best you are going to find anywhere. At least that was my experience.

If you are looking for rest and relaxation in the Tuscan countryside this is the place. I won’t divulge any of Fabio’s favorite site recommendations as this is value and joy he gets from hosting guests. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Thank you Urszula and Fabio for a GREAT week in Tuscany which we won’t soon forget. CIAO.

Fabulous Fabio!

  • 5 of 5

What a privilege to have stayed in Fabio's and Urszula's 300 year old farmhouse, olive garden and vineyard. From the first moment to the last they made us feel welcome and treated us like family. The apartment was clean, spacious and charming. Their home is a labor of love; ten acres of countless fruit trees, gardens, orchards, artifacts, and flowers. Nestled in the quiet commune of San Giusto the farm is perfectly situated to explore the magnificence of Tuscany.

This was our only Home Away experience where the owners were onsite and I found their knowledge and guidance a godsend. Thank you for steering our ship.

Grazie amici!

Very comfortable place to stay with wonderful hosts

  • 5 of 5

I recently traveled to Siena and surrounding area with my sister and daughter and we had a lovely stay at this home away property. The location is beautiful and close to towns you will want to explore during your stay. The farm house is well appointed and spotless. Hosts Ursula and Fabio are a pleasure to meet, and they make sure you find the best routes to visit the surrounding towns and local restaurants. Every was terrific. I would return for sure!

Coming from Siena at the exit of west ( Porta San Marco) you have to follow SS senese-aretina towards Roccastrada direction to reach Sovicille. After covering 10km,before reaching Sovicille you arrive in Ponte allo Spino a little bridge (on the left side of the road you can see a church ); here you have to turn on the right toward Ancaiano Caldana etc...After 1km you'll find a cross-road and on the left you see San Giusto direction. Now you have to go up the road until you'll reach a widening:here you are arrived
