Pool just for you, park not shared. The magnificent shaded oak grove and the pool are magical places to recharge your batteries serenely. This cottage has all the assets for a peaceful holiday very relaxing. Change of scenery assured. Nice restaurants, close to the cottage, practice low prices while offering tasty local products. The vineyards around are famous. Wineries offer tastings Local markets very close to the cottage (Issigeac, Villeréal, Beaumont) are places to taste all the products of this land that are particularly tasty.

Quirky but dirty

  • 2 of 5

Sadly there were more bad points than good.

The toilet wasn't clean and the shower was less clean still. We had to unblock the drain which had glass in it!

No bed sheets though we paid for them. We got some from the pleasant caretaker and they were clean, ironed but ancient and didn't fit the bed.

The BBQ was too filthy to consider using (as was next door's) and one side of the pool was "paved" with dangerous, unsecured slabs.

Half the light bulbs were out.

We left loo roll and cleaning things etc after having arrived to NO toilet paper and no washing up liquid or tabs. Haven't seen that in 20 years.

What a shame!

The setting is lovely and the weirdness should have been enough to carry it through... having to clean the furniture in the little wood before we could use it was the last straw.

  • 5 of 5

The Gite was beautiful, authentic and furnished traditionally with quality furniture. The Gite was lovely and cool inside and had a homely feel to it. The modern bathroom was excellent and the shower was very powerful. The outside area of the Gite was truly stunning with a fully enclosed pool area surrounded by statues and wonderful bamboo. The shaded eating areas were also rather special in the evening. Thank you to Gabriel the owner for being so understanding with my terrible French! If you want a great Gite to explore the Dordogne in a rural setting I can't recommend this place enough.

Owner's Response: Merci beaucoup.

  • 4 of 5
