Magnificent Log Home on Crescent Lake, situated in the middle of 15 privately owned acres, 750 feet of water-frontage. Soaring stone fireplace, complete with moosehead in great room that overlooks the lake. Featured in L.L.Bean Magazine on two occasions, also in Log Home Living Magazine, and Hiawatha Log Home show home. This log home is the finest rental you will find. Lodge-type feel with lots of charm, the perfect place for a gathering where quality time in a beautiful setting is the goal. Wildlife abounds with loons and an eagle nest nearby.
Gradual slope to the waterfront, equipped with gentle steps. At the water's edge is a hammock strung between two trees, a dock for lounging on or tying a boat up to, a canoe on the shore, and a float to swim to. The water is nice and shallow near the shore, gradually getting deeper as you walk out. Water is very clean with white sand underfoot. Very inviting waterfront.

Dear Cheryl, We had a great time in your beautiful log home! This is our dream house. My husband Danny went on a bear hunt while we were here and got his first bear! Our 2 children loved the game closet. Our 10 mo old baby girl loves the moose head on the fireplace. Thank you for letting us stay at your gorgeous home. It is truly the highlight of our year!
My wife and I have enjoyed several stays at this log home on Crescent Lake. On two occasions, we’ve invited friends from Europe to join us. And a few years ago we had a handful of our oldest friends meet there for a 30 year college reunion. What keeps us so enthusiastic about coming back and about sharing this place with our friends is the fact that it doesn’t feel like a “rental”. As soon as we arrive, the house feels like a home, and everybody we’ve been there with feels equally comfortable as soon as they walk in the door.
Since I really enjoy being outdoors, I’m never at a loss for things to do in Raymond. Crescent lake is the perfect size for casual trips in either of the two canoes that have always been down by the dock. Not everybody has been up for a climb to the summit of Rattlesnake Mountain. But I’ve tried to make it a daily routine and gotten some magnificent photos from its overlooks that face at least four of the region’s lakes. Everybody I’ve been there with has especially enjoyed gathering on the screened-in porch for meals and for conversation. The younger kids have spent hours searching for minerals in the crushed granite drive that leads down to the house. And they just loved the nearby Maine Wildlife Park. My wife’s absolute favorite memory is the sound of the loons, especially at night. I’m not much of a TV enthusiast, myself. But everybody else was impressed by the cable service that seemed to offer just about every channel that they could ask for. Day or night, I personally prefer watching nature unfold at the end of the exceptionally spacious dock.
This year, we arrived in the off-season and were delighted to be there for the onset of autumn color. At times, we felt like we were the only people on the entire lake and the tranquility was an added bonus to our stay. We brought our own kayaks this time, and after a little trial and error managed to navigate all the way from the log home into Sebago Lake! It’s an all-day trip, and I wouldn’t recommend it to the casual paddler. But for any serious kayaker or canoeist who doesn’t mind a couple of short portages, it’s an exceptional run!
Thanks for another memorable vacation. And we’ll look forward to coming back next year!
My girlfriends and I stayed here for a girls retreat. It was perfect. I brought my yellow lab and had a blast. She swam in the water jumping off the dock and drying in the sun. The kitchen had everything we needed and there was always plenty of hot water for everyone. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the home was much larger in person than the pictures could really show. It had such great details in railings and fireplace, antique mirrors and large bedrooms, plenty of woods for my dog to explore and dock space to accommodate all of us lounging in the sun. I highly recommend this LLBean catalog home! The owner was very friendly and accommodating and you can tell she takes great pride in her property. It's large enough to accommodate 3+ families for a group vacation. I'll be back with my husband and two other couples in 2015. He'll love the fishing!
My family spent a wonderful week at this very special log home. The house is a grand structure with plenty of living space and bedrooms to fit everyone. We (including the dog) appreciated the spacious, private setting. The kitchen was well supplied with cooking necessities, but we were unable to use the gas grill. There were several steps down to the water. These were mostly enjoyed by our 5 yr old grandson as his personal stair master. Ah youth! The lake is a dream. We explored it and fished from my son's canoe outfitted with electric motor. Often spotted the Bald Eagles. Good hiking nearby.
On a rainy day we sought the comfort of the living room and watched 4 episodes of Dexter.
I have had the good fortune of staying at this lovely camp...OK...house of the lake on 2 separate occasions. I must say that I have thoroughly enjoyed both times that I stayed there. The lake is calm and is great to canoe on. One of my favorite memories of the my stay involved a race around the island from the dock and back. It still brings a smile to my face even today when I think about it. The camp/house is spacious and beautiful and would be a great place to spend a week on an annual basis. I highly recommend anyone to contact the owner to reserve their stay! As a sidenote, if you like hiking, I am told there is a great trail nearby.
We had a wonderful one week vacation in this log house. We consisted of my husband & myself, 4 young adult children and one infant grandchild. We swam to the float, fished, and used the 2 canoes. We enjoyed the screened in porch and eating our meals out there.
The kitchen was well supplied with utensils, pots & pans, etc., but the interior of the cabinets was in total disarray. I felt compelled to organize them upon our arrival if I was going to cook meals for a whole week here. I have stayed in many other VRBO homes and I felt this house was not attended to as well compared to other homes I've rented.
The house is set back from the lake in the woods and is in the shade most of the day. Several high hat lights in the cathedral ceiling were burnt out and due to the ceiling height, there was no way for us to replace them. The balance of the lighting in the house is inadequate and since the house is in a shaded location, it was rather dark. We needed to keep lights on most of the time during the day while we were in the house. More floor, table lamps, or track lighting would be a simple remedy. IT was also very dark over the sink and in the kitchen, especially at night.
The waterfront dock has an eastern exposure and the sun passed overhead at about 2:00 in the afternoon, leaving the waterfront in the shade for the rest of the day.
The master bed has a deep mattress on it, and if I was informed of this ahead of time, I would have brought deep cornered bottom sheets. Regular fitted bottom sheets do not stay on. The master bed was also missing a mattress cover and I was curious/suspicious whether the blankets which were piled in the closets had all been washed after the previous visitors. These two thoughts left me slightly uncomfortable.
Regardless, the house was roomy and spacious and we just loved being in Maine.
Great morning sun on the lake. Enjoyed canoe rides on the lake, around the island and stopped at sandbar to swim everyday. Very convenient that Rattlesnake mountain is within walking distance, terrific views after a vigirous climb. Ate at Charlies's ice Cream, blueberry picking for blueberry pancakes and biscuits. Nice sunsets, enjoyed the peace and quite at nught, swimming and awesome non-airconditioned sleeping weather. Hope to come back next year.
