The property is stunning. Roads are a bit harrowing! Very spacious and clean.
Although the property itself is knockout and very special-having been built in the 1600’s it needs some extras. Like the beds being made. Although the sheets were fresh from the cleaners I don’t expect to have to make beds to start off my vacation. Also no extra sheets or pillowcases were provided. Extra bedrooms-we only used two-had pillows but no cases. We were given 1 bath towel and 1hand towel each. We did ask for more but they were not provided. Also no bathmat in the bathroom so you had to use your hand towel as a bathmat as the floor tiles were slick and also to dry the floor. No soap paper towels napkins or dish soap were provided. Kitchen utensils were a hodgepodge. No linen or papers napkins either The downstairs bathroom had a lot of mold in the shower. And the place was chilly. Frederico, who is s very nice man, brought us firewood every day to help warm the place. We mentioned about being chilly but there was no offer of heat. Also to be fair communication was a bit spotty. Our Italian was limited. His English much better. He did help us pick out places to visit and suggested fabulous restaurants. We also had a gas leak with the stove. You could smell the gas upstairs. He didn’t appear to concerned about it. Thought we didn’t know how to operate the gas stove. All in all I think this fabulous home needs a woman’s touch. Basic amenities would have gone a long way.
Perfect for family location
Our group of 5 adults and 3 children (ages 3, 4 and 8) had a wonderful vacation at villa Pontida in June 2017. The villa had plenty of room for the kids to play, a nice kitchen with a gas stove, dish washer, a big dinner table and a fridge. There is also a washing machine. Best of all is the pool. The steps to the pool are quite steep, but that was only good for us, the kids wouldn't go to the pool without adults noticing.
Federico was a perfect host. He answered to all our questions before our stay and was kind to get us some groceries for the first night as we arrived late.
Location is very nice, only about 12km to Bergamo and 20km to Lecco. We made half day trips to both.
We can highly recommend villa Pontida to families with small children.
Unbeatable stay - Absolutely recommend!
Absolutley perfect. The house was beautiful, comfortable and spacious. The owner couldn't have been more helpful and hospitable. We arrived on a bank holiday at almost midnight and when we asked if there was anywhere we could buy some food and drink, he actually cooked us a meal (for 12 people) from things from his own house - we were so, so grateful! and it was such an amazing thing for him to do for us! Would absolutley recommend this property. It is so beautiful and cosy and very central for Milan, Bergamo, and the lakes.
Peaceful and charming oasis
A unique property, very spacious and full of interest. Federico, the owner is very helpful. Perfect for a three generation family holiday. Very peaceful but within easy reach of Bergamo and Lake Como. Good range of local shops. Large pool and terrace for outdoor dining. We had a wonderful stay.
Stunning house away from the main drag
A beautiful and well maintained Manor House. Some more modern features, but retains it's old, rustic and homely feel. The owner, Federico enjoys helping out, and seems to genuinely wish for you to have a great stay.
Great location if you're looking for peace and quiet. Also in close driving proximity to some interesting and stunning parts of northern Italy: Bergamo, Lecco, San Pellegrino, etc... Leonardo Da Vinci trail also nearby... Seems to be a well kept secret.

Wonderful house, wonderful host
We spent a wonderful week at Federico's house in early summer 2013. We were a group of 3 couples with young children. We enjoyed beautiful days playing in the garden and pool, and lovely evenings eating delicious meals cooked with local produce in the well-equipped kitchen. The house is impeccably decorated and we wanted for nothing. Federico was a very helpful and kind host, advising us on what to see and do in the area and helping to problem-solve without cramping our style. We very much hope to return in future!
Exit the motorway at Bergamo or Dalmine take direction Como-Lecco highway with up to Mapello. Normal road ahead is still about 4-5 km. Once in the village area of Pontida turn immediately right into Valmora. Almost at the end of the road you will find the Holiday Capietaglio
The strategic geographic location (easy to reach the wonderful city of Bergamo, Milan, the lakes of Lombardy, the Alps and the foothills, but also Venice, Genoa and Turin) Capietaglio make the holiday an ideal base for a stay in the Italian settentrionale. We point out the proximity to Lake Como (20km), the Golf Club Bergamo (7 km), the river Adda (6 km) with the striking down by the river close to the cycling of Leonardo da Vinci. In country not to lose his visit to the Benedictine abbey of the twelfth century home of the famous oath of Pontida. Nearby restaurants and pizzerias that the owner must take care to explain and to tell you.
