Fattoria, or "the farm" apartment (100 m²) comprises a generous living/dining room featuring the original fireplace which also functions as a barbecue in the Tuscan tradition, (frequently used, particularly at the Villa Fabbroni, to prepare the spoils of the hunt), a well equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, 3 double bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms with shower. Original Florentine terracotta tile floors, wood coffered ceilings, and antique furnishings complement the inherent beauty of this apartment. Fattoria has its own private courtyard with garden furniture.
Enjoy an unforgettable holiday in this historical villa in the heart of Chianti, only a few kilometres from Florence, Siena and San Gimignano. and closer still to a state of total peace and tranquillity.
At Villa Fabbroni you can select your preferred level of tranquillity on a daily basis. Enjoy leisurely activities such as reclining in the garden or by the pool with a glass of wine and a book, more energetic pursuits like exploring the surrounding woodlands with their tantalising promise of wildlife sightings, take excursions to legendary Chianti hill towns, colourful markets and restaurants, and of course discover the wealth of art that defines Florence and Tuscany.
Villa Fabbroni has remote origins dating back to ancient Rome. During the Middle Ages the estate, known as Panzalla Castle, came into the possession of the Buondelmonti family, and the house was transformed into one of their many family castles. In the first half of the 1800s the Fabbroni family renovated the villa in flamboyant nineteenth century style and made it their hunting lodge. King Vittorio Emanuele II was a frequent guest at the villa during the period when Florence was the capital of Italy. The land surrounding the castle was rich with game and fruitful vineyards, producing a wine very similar to Bordeaux.
Padronale is the principal apartment in the villa. It is composed of a large living area with a fireplace, 5 bedrooms (3 of which have private bathrooms), a dining room, a kitchen (equipped with oven, microwave, and dishwasher), and 4 bathrooms with shower. The aesthetics of this apartment include original terracotta tile floors, wood coffered ceilings, and antique furnishings. Fattoria (see 'available rentals' tab above), is the second very spacious apartment, which is slightly smaller than Padronale but equally charming and well-equipped.
Villa Fabbroni also contains a small number of more compact apartments. The Villa's hosts live on site and provide guests with support, along with additional services on request, such as breakfasts or evening meals. While the swimming pool, common areas and restaurant are shared amenities, the Villa Fabbroni estate offers plenty of private spaces and activity options so guests can choose to either socialise or remain secluded, according to their preference.
We celebrated birthday and retirement with the family and had just a wonderful time in La Loggia at Villa Fabbroni. A spectacular castello up in the mountains of Florence, the most wonderful hosts and owners Stefano and Sergio, splendid breakfast and dinners in the cellar restaurant from the 1700 century. The appartment La Loggia is perfect for 6 people. We were three couples and the unit provides 3 bedrooms with private bathrooms and a large living room with kitchen.
We had dinner there on weekends, drunk plenty of their home made Chianti wine and ate home made pizza on Tuesday. Sergio and Stefano even prepared a birthday dinner for my wife's birthday in the middle of the week.
The villa is centrally located and a great base to explore Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Montepulciano and Pisa/Lucca in not more than one hour drive. Dont forget to take the back roads and visit the towns in Chianti, like Greve, Panzano, Volpaia, Vertine to name a few.
To summarize, the Villa Fabbroni exceeded all of our expectations and for sure we want to come back again.
Thanks Stefano and Sergio, you are just wonderful hosts and a pleasure to be with.
Our accommodation at Villa Fabbroni was charming and atmospheric, the distinctive furnishings evoking another era. Our hosts were also charming, and helpful. When we had a question about how to work something, Stefano was there in a flash and it was quickly resolved. The position is ideal. We drove to Florence, Lucca and Siena and also managed to squeeze in a few Tuscan hilltop towns. We prepared some meals in our apartment, but the lure of the cosy restaurant, with its vaulted ceilings and delicious aromas, was too strong. We ate there on weekend nights when it was open (exclusively for guests of the villa) and even had their take-away pizza another night. There’s also a terrific restaurant, La Posta, down in the village. The estate is bigger than I expected with quite a number of apartments tucked away in the grand old Castello. Our accommodation was very private, but it was nice to meet up with the small enclave of fellow travellers in the gardens and restaurant. All very convivial. Although the road is paved on the way out of the village, it does eventually become an unmade road, but it is still quite navigable and wasn’t a problem for us as we’re accustomed to country driving. Our early morning strolls through the still woodlands (glimpsing deer and families of wild boar which delighted our children) were pretty special. I’m sure the absence of cars, save for the occasional local heading off to work, helps maintain the seclusion and tranquility.

Highway A1 Bologna-Firenze-Roma, exit FIRENZE SUD
After exiting the highway, stay right for “Statale 222” in the direction of Greve in Chianti-Grassina.
Once in Grassina, pass the main square and make a left in direction of San Polo in Chianti.
At San Polo in Chianti, turn left (at the corner of the post office) onto Via di Rubbiana. After 300 meters, the main road divides into 2 roads: take the one for Pieve di Rubbiana (NOT for Fattoria di Rubbiana). You will come upon a church, and the asphalt will become a dirt road. Continue straight for about 2000 meters until you find the red sign “ Villa Fabbroni”.
Go straight down the road with the 2 small columns, and after about 500 meters, you will find our property.
