About Karin

I have been providing tourist accommodation in Nanaimo for over 15 years. I very much enjoy assisting our clients with all their vacation needs and suggestions for wonderful tourist attractions.

Karin purchased this house in 2003

Why Karin chose Vancouver Island

Lakeview was created, as I grew up in Ontario in a resort. We had 5 cottages and a guest house. My greatest pleasure is being able to share this cottage country like living with all newcomers and repeating guests alike. Living on a fresh water lake right in the middle of a city, is like a pocket of paradise.

What makes this house unique

This waterfront home has a dock, use of non motorized watercrafts including a paddleboat, canoe, kayaks. A lovely beach and large deck overlooking the lake to sit and relax.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Home away from home”! This home suited the needs of our family perfectly. Your town is ever changing and your waterfront home very impressive. We enjoyed the accessibility by ferry to Gabriola Island, sea plane to Vancouver, and access to all the small hidden treasures along the way. Your home on the lake provided us with comfort and relaxation. I thank you for the natural and peaceful surroundings. We will highly recommend it.

Golf Buddies Trip

  • 5 of 5

We are a group of eight senior men who are school friends that go on an annual golf trip. This year we travelled to Vancouver Island and stayed at this vacation rental home in Nanaimo. Karin was a wonderful host and the accommodations exceeded our expectations. The home is situated on Long Lake and is excellent for swimming, water skiing or kayaking. The patio/deck overlooks the lake and was a relaxing way to enjoy the afternoon and evening after a strenuous day on the links. We highly recommend this home for a trip such as ours and we will definitely be back.

Awesome home, great location ... perfect in every way!

  • 5 of 5

Family of five travelling from Seattle with the family dog found this property to be the perfect holiday get-a-way. The photos and property description are accurate. Owner (Karin) was responsive and helpful, reservations were easy and straight-forward. She met us at check-in and briefed us on the home and the area. The home is warm and inviting, well-appointed and will sleep many. The kitchen has high-end appliances and the BBQ grill on the back deck is a plus. This house is on Long Lake, with a small dock. We took our small boat (14-feet, 50 HP) and had a blast tooling around the small lake. As an aside, my 10-year-old and I caught many sizeable Rainbow Trout (2-3 pounds) and they were tasty! Loudon Park, just next door, has an excellent swimming beach and the water is clean and clear. Spent one day tripping up to Coombs, MacMillan Provincial Park and Englishman's River Falls - all within an hour's drive. Also nearby is Piper's Lagoon Park - great hiking; and, of course, Nanaimo's beautiful waterfront and harbor. We came away very pleased. Thank-you, Karin! Your property is awesome!

Owner's Response: Thank you Len and family, it was our absolute pleasure hosting you all. Thank you so much for coming and enjoying our little pocket of paradise here, the weather could have been much hotter, however I am sure the cooler temperature assisted in your amazing fishing. I am so glad you caught some to enjoy. We look forward to accommodating you all again. Have a great day Karin

Stunning property & excellent family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We we're visiting family in vancouver and choose the Lakeside home due to size, location and how beautiful it looked on the website. Let's just say that none of us were disappointed, in fact we were all truly amazed by our weekend retreat.

It was big enough to accommodate all 10 of us including 2 babies. The older children loved the lake & water sports. The house is well equipped so there was no need to head out for food unless you really wanted to. Bbq on hand and great weather added to our fabulous weekend. Anyone looking for a gorgeous large home to stay in for any amount of time should consider contacting Karin, great customer service for a stunning property. Thanks

Brian

Amazing, a perfect fit!! In Nanaimo to help my father celebrate his 90th birthday. Karen provided us a oasis for my family to relax and rest at the end of each day. We are three families as part of one so it was great to be together but still have our own space. We will be back!!

Family from Across the Country Gathered for Wedding

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Karen for having such a great place to accommodate such a large group(10), with room to spare. Access to the Lake and use of the paddle boats, canoe and kayaks was great. Cool evenings and quiet days on the deck along with an interior that was very modern, turned our family Wedding into a Vacation. We really enjoyed the stay and would recommend for anyone to not let the place slip away if your considering booking. Truly worth it.

Our stay at this property was awesome from start to finish. Karin made us feel welcome and the amenities that were provided were awesome! I wish we could have taken advantage of the water more but we were attending a family wedding and duty got in the way! Definitely recommend this house for anyone wanting a beautiful and relaxing vacation! Will keep Karin in mind of I ever travel to the island again!
