The most exciting house in the Alpujarras
The house is very well located in Atalbeitar,a little village in the middle of the Alpujarras. It's an authentique old village house with a lot's of charm and a large facing south terrace without opposie. It's a pleasure to eat on the terrace with a marvelous panoramic lanscape.
A lot of hikings are avaible from the house without need to take the car.
It was really nice holidays !
Vi har nydt at bo i skønne Casa Aloe. Huset er helt specielt indrettet og har byens bedste udsigt.
It is beautiful, full of wonderful details, quiet and cosy.
We had a wonderful stay in Casa Aloe, an impressing rural house restored with so much love and so many beautiful details. We enjoyed the swimmingpool and the steamroom in the afternoon after a long walk in the mountains. There is an amazing view from the terrasse and from some of the rooms too. Atalbéitar is special because you don't have noisy bars og streets with motorbikes and cars. It is so quiet and the neighbours are very nice people. We had a good communication with Carmen and Tom, and Matilde was very kind to show us around and meet us. You have to watch out for your head when you walk around in the house as it is a very old house with small doors. The terrasse is not friendly for small children, but a wonderful place to enjoy a meal or relax. There is lots of good walking routes from Atalbéitar and in only 15-20 minutes of walking (5 minutes in car) you can reach a little village with bars, restaurants and supermarket. We would definitely love to come back.
The nearest airport is Granada at 93 km. There's also Almeria's airport and Malaga Airport at 151 Km:
(Check Easyjet, Thompson fly, and Ryan Air, BMI, jet 2, to name a few of the airlines serving Malaga).
There is a public bus service serving the village of Pitres (2 km away) and a taxi service takes you from there to Atalbeitar. From Pitres and to Pitres there are 3 buses/day connecting it with Orgiva or Granada or Motril, which in turn have connections to the major cities.
But we recommend hiring a car to be able to appreciate fully what the area has to offer.
This is easily organised over the internet, (google search 'Car Hire Malaga/ Granada Airport)
In the hot days you can find along the many streams charming pools where to bathe!
There are many wonderful spots to visit, the Old Mosque , the old springs, one of which has fizzy water, the ancient Roman bridge... the amazing peaks around us, the waterfalls, and the many Fiestas in our village and the villages nearby. Also in those nearby villages you'll enjoy free tapas of the local cousine with each drink you buy!
Salobrena is 56 km away, an old Moorish coastal town with sandy beaches, good fish restaurants and an impressive cliff-top castle. A short distance from there and you can find all manner of hidden coves, beaches and villages to explore.
Almunecar is 68 km away, this is another historic coastal town that offers it all. Including a magnificent Flee Market every Sunday morning till 2pm.
Granada is 78 km away, with its fascinating historic centre, the Alhambra palace, 'hammams' (Turkish baths), the old Moorish quarter Albaizin and superb shopping.
Pitres, another white jewel is 3km by road, or a pleasant 2 km cross-country walk and it is our nearest centre, with all amenities...Market day on Fridays, bank, supermarket, bakery, bars and restaurants, and an open air swimming pool surrounded by grass lawns and fine views where there are often shows.
Ferreirola, Mecina, Fondales and Portugos are small villages all very close to Atalbeitar, between 15 and 30 minutes of delightful walk in different directions by the Moorish paths. They all have great character and charm. They are very worth visiting and a gorgeous walk.
