Ideally located in the heart of the Var, 15 km from Draguignan, between the Mediterian (25 km as the crow flies - 40 minutes by car) and the Gorges du Verdon (20 km as the crow flies - 40 minutes from Trigance). You can enjoy an exceptional view of a typical Provencal village (Callas), and an unobstructed view to the coast. You can, as you wish, or according to the times of the day, lunch in the shade of mulberry trees (with views of the village) or under the pool-house between two dives, enjoy the garden for an aperitif under the palm tree, or arrange meals on the large table with a panoramic view.

Great holiday!

Just returned from 2 weeks in this lovely house where we had a super holiday. The view is fantastic, whether from the house overlooking the wooded hills or from the pool of the pretty village of Callas we never tired of just looking out. The house was very clean and well equipped. Callas itself is small but within an easy 10 minute walk or 2 minute bike ride to get bread on a morning or for a meal out at night. The 4 restaurants are OK but nothing special but were nice enough and convenient. Lots of local tracks and paths for walks and bike rides although it was too hot to venture too seriously into the hills. We really enjoyed the nearby Gorge de Pennefort for refreshing dips into the pools. The house is also very conveniently situated to venture further afield - easy to get to the coast or Gorges du Verdon , local lakes or one of the many local villages. Jean-Paul & Myriam were excellent hosts who were friendly and helpful with local knowledge and tips and were very tolerant and helpful in compensating for our almost non existent French. We would certainly recommend the property. Merci beaucoup Jean-Paul & Myriam!

If you want to see Provence, this is your place

If you want the real deal, we can highly recommend this house as your base for visiting Provence. The location is perfect with plenty of attractions within 90 minutes drive - classic hill-top villages (Seillans, Tourrettes, Tourtour, Chateaudouble), wineries, Gorges du Verdon for hiking and the Riviera (St Tropez, Antibes). Add to this, the village of Callas which is a cosy 5 minute walk away with a few local restaurants, a friendly tabac, corner deli and boulangerie - this is genuine France without the hype or tourists. We stayed for three weeks and weren't ready to leave - we loved it !

Jeanpaul was an excellent host - with a warm welcome, good spoken English and plenty of advice on what to do in the area. The house is the old family home with a very relaxed pool area, great patio (with views southwards and to the village centre) and a good living area indoors for the off-season traveller. The bed was a comfortable double (not a given in France) and a reasonable shower / bathroom.

Thanks to Jeanpaul and Myriam for a great stay - we will return when we need another fix of our favourite bit of Provence.

Que du bonheur !

Nous avons passer à 6 (2 adultes 4 enfants) un excellent séjour dans la petite maison adossée à la colline de Callas. Du calme, de la douceur, du soleil, une piscine qui a fait le bonheur des enfants (et des parents;-)

Au delà du cadre idyllique du lieu, c'est l'accueil de Myriam et Jean Paul qui nous a marqué: discrets mais toujours dispos en cas de besoin (même tard le soir). C'est à travers ces rencontres humaines qu'on apprécie les gens... à leur juste valeurs. Merci à vous 2 et au plaisir de se revoir !

Vue exceptionnelle sur village et vallée !

Nous avons passé trois semaines très agréables dans cette charmante maison. La vue sur la vallée et le village de Callas y est tout simplement magique. Au départ de la maison, il est possible de faire des ballades en vélo à travers les oliviers et les forêts. La piscine qui nous était totalement réservée est grande et très bien ensoleillée au grand bonheur de toute la famille. Le calme est très appréciable. La maison contient tout ce qu’il faut pour passer d’agréables vacances. A 10 minutes à pied, 5 en vélo, le village de Callas a boulangerie, épicerie et restaurants (nous vous recommandons la pizzéria ainsi que Le Moulin des Voisins où nous avons bien diner (réservation nécessaire). Les propriétaires sont discrets et très accueillants. Leur maison est un peu au-dessus de la location. Jean-Paul nous a donné beaucoup d’idées de balades en vélo et restaurants dans la région, en particulier celle de l’ancienne voie de chemin de fer et d’un petit resto dans les Georges du Verdon. Bref, location à recommander ! Un vrai régal !

A wonderful week

We spent a week in this lovely house on the outskirts of Callas with our three children (15, 12 and 9). The views of Callas and the surrounding area are beautiful. The village of Callas was easily reached on foot in 10 minutes or by car in 2 minutes. We visited the boulangerie there every day. There are many picturesque towns nearby that are easily reached by car. We visited Bargemon several times and the drive to nearby Seillans, where we had a wonderful meal in the town square at La Gloire de Mon Pere, was a great adventure. The trip to Gorges to Verdun took us through some beautiful countryside, and the Gorges itself is truly spectacular. We recommend hiring a pedalo to explore inside the gorge.

We made great use of the pool, the barbecue and the well-equipped kitchen. The week we stayed was very hot, but the house remained cool. Jean-Paul and Myriam are fantastic hosts, full of helpful suggestions and tips. We appreciated our warm welcome and the comforts of their home. We will definitely return if we are lucky enough to have another holiday in Provence.
