'Altitude's Attitude' - a recently built, spacious, upscale, two bedroom, two bath cabin on a large, wooded lot ideally located within 1.5 miles to Main Street. The proximity to town does not sacrifice privacy and peacefulness as it is located towards the end of a dead end road.

The cabin has significant upgraded features throughout including knotty pine trim, pine floors, locust wood railings, and tile countertops. Each bedroom suite is on its own separate level for maximum privacy. The main level master bedroom has its own large bath with tub shower, brand new king mattress set, 37' LCD TV with DVD, and french doors opening to the deck overlooking the forest.

The lower bedroom also has its own bath with tub shower and double vanity, a queen with pillowtop mattress set, flat screen TV with DVD, a twin daybed with trundle for extra sleeping arrangements, walk-in closet, and french doors opening to a private balcony overlooking the forest.

The common area features an open floor plan with vaulted ceilings and many windows bringing the outdoors inside. The kitchen is spacious and includes all stainless appliances, ample pine cabinetry, and a nice dining area with seating for six. The living area includes a stone surround gas fireplace, 32' LCD TV with DVD, brand new Yamaha stereo system w/ CD/Ipod/smart phone jack & cord, high speed wireless internet access (cable), leather and mohair furniture, and queen pullout sofa.

The four-person hot tub (with colorful LED lighting) is located just off the front walkway which leads from the three car parking area to the front porch, appointed with rockers. The back deck includes new balcony height table and chairs for six, new stainless steel gas grill, and an excellent elevated view of the forest.

A full-size washer and dryer in the utility room complete the cabin's many extra features. All linens are provided, which includes beds made, bath, and kitchen. This is a No Smoking, No Pets property. Cleaning and trash service are included in the rate. All reservations are subject to a $39 reservation fee and applicable taxes. Optional Accidental Damage Insurance can be purchased (may be required for larger groups); otherwise a $300 refundable security deposit will be required.

With the location so close to Main Street, you are also within 1.5 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway, 3 miles to Appalachian Ski Mountain, 35-45 minutes drive to all other area ski resorts, 10 minutes drive to Tweetsie Railroad, and 15 minutes drive to Boone. Ample off street and level parking for a maximum of three vehicles. Please come stay with us if you are looking for the perfect mountain get-away at Altitude's Attitude!

About Mel

We live in Raleigh NC and love to go to the NC mountains as we have since we were children. We like to ski, hike, and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the High Country area year round. The summers are incredible in Blowing Rock, allowing us to leave the 90 degrees plus in Raleigh and in three hours be in the low/mid 70's. We enjoy the beauty of the fall leaf season and catch an Appalachian State football game on occasion. We always come up after Thanksgiving for our Christmas tree, which is always more fresh but less expensive than trees where we live. Our children love the frequent snows in the winter as well.

Mel purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Mel chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

The High Country area in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains is as scenic as you will find in the Appalachians and easy to get to by car. The village of Blowing Rock is always recognized as one of the most desirable destinations in the NC mountains due to the extensive shopping, retaurants, special events, and points of interest; our cabin is less than 5 minutes to Main Street but is located on a peaceful, private, dead end road.

What makes this cabin unique

Quiet and private, but not so far out that you are isolated; newly built, so everything is in great condition and modern; cleaning service is obsessive about cleanliness

Guestbook comments from the manager

Third time here for me! Love this place! Feels like home and helps me breathe. Today we tackled Tweetsie, tomorrow Grandfather Mountain, and a hike to the waterfalls in Blowing Rock on Monday. It is such a wonderful treat coming here, just not enough time. Your home inspires me.

Cozy and just what we wanted

  • 5 of 5

We had two couples looking for a quick getaway from kids, schedules, and responsibilities and we found the perfect place! It ended up being very cold this weekend (too cold for golf and shopping) so we mostly hung out at the cabin. We loved the simple Christmas decorations, the warm fire. We were very thankful for the clean, and nice accommodations. A few suggestions we would make is better, more cozy living room furniture and it didn't seem that the hot tub got as warm as we would've liked.

The lights on the rails, the 30 mph winds, the stars and freezing temps made the hot tub interesting to say the least but despite the lack of heat and lots of bubbles, I'd rate this place as excellent! Thanks for a great weekend!

Owner's Response: We certainly appreciate the nice 5 Star rating and review from this guest. The living area has upholstered furniture seating for five and one additional chair for total seating of six(pictured in three different angles). For a cabin our size, this is most always ample seating for our guests. I did have the hot tub checked by our technician; the water temperature is set and holding at the recommended and safe level for vacation rentals. As mentioned in a previous review response, when the air temperature is cold (under 50 degrees) and especially when it is very cold (around freezing) as this guest mentioned in her review, once the hot tub cover is removed and is in use the water temperature begins declining. After 20-30 minutes of use, it is normal and expected for the water temperature to be cooler. At that time, it is suggested to put the cover back on and return later for another warm and toasty hot tub visit.

Quick Weekend

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. The cabin was very cute, extremely clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed. It was perfect for two couples, we each had our own bedroom and private bath. We enjoyed the hot tub after a challenging hike at Grandfather Mountain. It's a few minutes from the main downtown area, and we had no problem finding parking downtown. We would definitely stay here again.

Spectacular Cabin. Great location and well appointed.

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous and relaxing stay. The cabin is in a convenient location but maintains a nice secluded feel. The decor is very tasteful, the furnishings comfortable and the layout has a nice flow. The kitchen was well stocked and easy to use. We will definitely be back again!
