Relax and unwind during your stay on West Cork’s beautiful Sheeps Head Peninsula.
Surrounded by beautiful countryside and amazing scenery, Cove Cottage is a superb seafront property with stunning views of Dunmanus Bay.
Reenmore Strand is literally a few meters from the house – a wonderful place to swim, kayak and fish or to stroll and relax on.
The garden features a pond, large patio area equipped with garden furniture including two barbeques, a large lawn surrounded by a fuchsia hedge and an area with a large array of beautiful shrubs and plants.
The house itself is stylishly furnished with antique and modern furniture including two log burners. Great for families and families sharing. It offers a fantastically equipped kitchen/dining room, sun room with views across the bay, four bedrooms ( 3 en-suite ) and sleeps up to ten.
There are tv’s, cd and dvd players in most rooms and an extensive library of books and dvd’s for people of all ages and backgrounds.
There is plenty to see and do locally – bird spotting, horse riding, sailing, golf, diving, cycling, seal and whale spotting and walking – you can access The Sheeps Head Way, one of Irelands 31 Waymarked Ways ( marked trails ) within minutes of Cove Cottage. Fly fishing is widely available, there are many historic tombs and monuments to visit and several beautiful private gardens nearby are open to the public. Renowned restaurants and numerous friendly pubs with Irish music and dance can be found close by. At the head of Bantry Bay, and set against a spectacular mountainous backdrop, the picturesque harbour town of Bantry (14 miles) and Bantry House are well worth exploring.
We recently decided to extend the accommodation available. In keeping with the area we tastefully converted an outbuilding into an additional two bedroom cottage called Little Cove. The cottage can either be added onto the hire of Cove Cottage for a small supplement or rented separately from the main house.
The thick walls and traditional features are complimented with quality fixtures and fittings offering that home from home feeling.
The cottage sleeps up to four people, has a toilet/shower room on both the ground and first floor, a very well equipped kitchen and comfortable living room with tv, dvd and cd players.
“The cottage was far beyond my expectations! It was very well-located, extremely well equipped - home from home - we didn't need for anything. The location is superb - just a stone throw away from the sea. Fabulous for touring around the Bantry area. We will be back!”
Our stay at this cottage was truly wonderful. The house is cosy with everything you could possibly need. The sea and beach are just a stones throw away. The most wonderful thing was the total silence and tranquillity, the only sound that we woke to was birdsong.
Although secluded we were able to visit many places, including Bantry and had a fabulous meal at O'Connors which comes highly recommended.
All in all, the cottage gets full marks and we'll definately be back next year.
Thanks, Cecilia, Dominique and family
Gloriously situated in a small quiet cove on the Sheep’s Head peninsula, and just 20 yards from the beach, this exceptionally fine and spacious modern cottage boasts a conservatory overlooking Dunmanus Bay. Blessed with a famously mild climate, peaceful unspoilt and often described as the most beautiful landscape in Ireland, the peninsula’s contrasting rugged cliffs and lush pasture make very good walking country—the Sheep’s Head Way in particular crosses a variety of terrains, all affording stunning views. At the head of Bantry Bay, and set against a spectacular mountainous backdrop, the picturesque harbour town of Bantry (14 miles) and magnificent Bantry House are well worth exploring. Shop and pub 1½ miles, Durrus 8 miles. The Blarney Stone and Cork Airport are 65 miles. Cork Ferry Terminal is 75 miles.
Other Activities: Fabulous local pubs, with live Irish music - good for the Craic!
