Why Gorete Fieira Novack chose Cortes
Location, location, location! This is smack-dab in the middle of the historic Barrio de las Letras (Literature Neighborhood) very romantic, safe and with countless places to eat, people-watch, on a pedestrian street (no traffic).
What makes this Apartment unique
The building was completely gutted a few years ago and they saved the facade and the 100 year old staircase, but everything else is brand-new modern construction and a modern elevator. We have furnished and equipped the apartment with everything we would like to find in a rental, we use VRBO ourselves when we travel so we understand that small details are paramount. Besides, we have lived in Madrid for over a decade, so we are happy to steer you to the best suggestions, whether they are restaurants, site seeing, shopping, trendy restaurants, family places or unique Madrid experiences depending on your date of travel.

Apartment is very clean! Great location! Everything is within walking distance!
Great property and location
The property was very nice and walking distance to everything. The apartment had everything we needed. Would highly recommend. Thank you for a great visit to Madrid!
An absolute gem, both to stay and in the location. Well beyond expectations. Bed extremely comfortable. Can't speak of more highly.
We spent 3 nights at this apartment. We were able to walk every where- museums/attractions, restaurants and night life. The apartment is in a very secure well kept building, is very comfortable and had everything we needed. With so many wonderful restaurants we only ate breakfast in the apartment but there did appear to be more than enough pots, pans, plates, etc. There is also a coffee pot and a washer/dryer. The apartment is super clean and the furnishings are in excellent condition. To those not familiar with Madrid this is a city that embraces night life especially on Friday and Saturday night. You will hear the night life from the apartment. This is not a criticism as my guess is you would hear it from any apartment in the heart of the city. It’s just something to be aware of. Gorete emailed helpful information (re: things to do, how to get to the apartment, restaurant recommendations, etc) prior to our stay. She was also very responsive to a concern we had with WiFi while staying there and was able to resolve the issue. We had a great stay and I definitely recommend this apartment.
Excellent apartment, excellently located
This is an excellent apartment. It is attractive and comfortable. The furnishings are first-rate and well-maintained. The bed is comfortable. We don't cook on vacation, but the kitchen is well-organized and seemed well-equipped for those who do.
Despite our minimal Spanish, Alicia gave us a thorough orientation to the apartment. There is also a thorough notebook with information about the apartment and the neighborhood.
The apartment is well-thought out. There is lots of storage for clothes, including closet drawers, shelves, and more than enough hangers. (It's surprising how many apartments we've stayed in don't have enough hangers!) The bathroom is very nice -- and there are a number of hooks too. The wi-fi is good. We didn't use the t.v.
The apartment is in a nice, secure building in a great location. We met the concierge, who was friendly and helpful, as well as several friendly, welcoming neighbors.
We walked just about everywhere in Central Madrid. All the main attractions are within reach for walkers and people who want to explore the neighborhoods, but there's also a nearby Metro stop and a number of convenient bus lines. Atocha Station is not far.
There are so many bars and restaurants that we rarely ate outside the neighborhood. While the neighborhood is a lively night area, the apartment is quiet thanks to the high-quality double-pane glass doors. The apartment is very bright during the day, but the light is indirect so the inside temperature stays comfortable.
This is a great place for two people, or perhaps a family with a child. The sofas in the living room are comfortable for napping, so a child sleeping overnight would sleep well.
Arrival was smooth. No problems finding the accommodation and Alicia, the manager, was there when we arrived to let us in. There is a very complete and helpful binder in the apartment that provided info on everything we needed to know. The apartment is lovely -- clean, nicely decorated, and everything in good order. The location is perfect, right in the middle of everything you want to see. We purchased a metro pass but never used it as everything was within a 10 minute walk. We had a fantastic time and I enthusiastically recommend this rental for anyone visiting Madrid.
One suggestion: bring or buy earplugs for the nights when things run late at the nearby restaurants, bars, and terrace cafes. Folks can be a bit noisy as they walk home. We loved being in the middle of things and didn't mind the accompanying occasional disturbance.
Location, location, location! This is smack-dab in the middle of the historic Barrio de las Letras (Literature Neighborhood) very romantic, safe and with countless places to eat, people-watch, on a pedestrian street (no traffic). The apartment is located in a historic building that was completely renovated a few years ago, so that the essence of the old was kept and all the modern amenities and comforts added. The windows are double-paned glass, so that even though you are smack-dab in the middle of the historic downtown area, literally a stone´s throw away from virtually all the worthwhile cultural and artistic sites (Prado Museum, Reina Sofia Modern Art Museum, Thyssen, Palacio Real (Royal Palace), Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, etc.) you will have a safe and restful home away from home to enjoy Madrid to the fullest! Also, the Metro stop and Atocha train station is very, very close and you may easily take day trips to Toledo, Segovia, Avila or take the AVE (High Speed Train) to Sevilla, Alicante or Barcelona. Besides, I have lived in Madrid for over a decade, so I am happy to steer you to the best suggestions, whether they are restaurants, site seeing, shopping, trendy restaurants, family places or unique Madrid experiences depending on your date of travel.
