Housed on the third floor of our grand 1890 Victorian home in Boston's thriving South Boston neighborhood, we are conveniently located on East Broadway with a bus stop literally at the corner of our block. Adjacent to the 'village' area, everything is safely within walking distance including the BCEC, restaurants, the subway (Red line Broadway Stop), grocery/drug stores, parks, Dorchester Heights historical monument, and the beach. This 1,000 square-ft immaculate, spacious 4-room apartment + full bath has its own separate entrance with city/water views, central air, wifi, and a sizeable eat-in kitchen. The unit is basic, providing a great value for a clean, comfortable, well-stocked space. The owners who occupy the downstairs make every effort to make the process easy & straightforward from start to finish for all renters. As only the 7th listing on Boston/VRBO over 10 years ago (out of nearly 300 listings currently) we've thoroughly enjoyed this labor of love, and all the wonderful people we've met.
We host families, tourists, actors, marathoners, and corporate clients - all enjoy our convenient location to downtown, the airport, public transport and Boston's main attractions including the Freedom Trail/Boston Common, Fenway Park, Children's Museum, JFK Library/Museum, Harvard..... all within 2 - 3 miles from here. There is no need to rent a car unless traveling well outside the city limits, although there is free on-street parking - or you can rent our parking spot for $15/night if necessary.. Finally, our 14 year old daughter is available to babysit.
Finally, on rare occasions we will rent the entire house to parties of 7 or more. Please call the listed phone number for further information.
Married with 3 children ages 20, 18 & 14, we moved here 15 years ago (2001) from Redondo Bch, Southern California. Donna is originally from the Boston area, but moved to LA for work after graduate school where she met and fell in love with Max - a native Southern Californian she married in 1994. Seven years later, Donna convinced Max to move back to her Boston routes - and by the winter of 2015 they weren't sure what they were thinking! But seriously, Boston has been a great family urban setting to raise our children - and we love the city life!
The Owner purchased this apartment in 1999
Even with 5 of us, this large house with 4 floors was always more space than we necessarily needed. The top floor was originally built with separate access and often operated as an autonomous level, so we continued renting it as such when we moved in. Since we have often traveled via VRBO/Homeaway, we thought it would be great to similarly offer short-term rentals instead of the traditional month-to-month or yearly leasing. We've always had much success renting our top floor through VRBO, and have met so many wonderful people from around the world. It's truly a labor love!
Our longevity! We were only the 7th property listed on Boston's VRBO website in 2005, long before it became popular. In light of increased competition, and with over 250 properties now listed in Boston, we remain one of the busier properties - and we're one of the few with such longevity that has all 5-star reviews. Hopefully we're doing something right:):)
Clean, roomy, comfortable. Beautiful neighborhood, delicious restaurants, short walk to grocery store. Bus stop right out the door & convenient access to the Red line "T" (subway) & from there your only limit is too many places to see & not enough time! Donna & Max are super friendly, helpful hosts. Perfect. We'd definitely stay here again!
This cozy & quaint apartment was absolutely perfect for our first visit to Boston. We are a family of five (two adults, three teens) and this space was a great size for us--just enough room to not feel on top of one another in the evenings. The location is perfect--we visited the local supermarket to pick up breakfast items and used the local restaurants (all within a short walking distance) for takeout. Our boys loved interacting with the locals while visiting the restaurants--getting to know the people is part of the experience for us when visiting new places, so this location in a residential area was perfect! While public transporation is very convenient, we actually walked into downtown a few times (2.5 miles to long wharf, a pleasant walk even in December) and used Uber as well. All modern conveniences were supplied in the apartment and we were very comfortable getting ready in the mornings and relaxing in the evenings. The private entrance was convenient and the four flights of stairs gave us a little extra exercise after all the cannoli indulgences! We rented a car for two days to drive the New England coast into Maine; we used the parking spot for the car overnight and this was also very convenient. Our only regret is that we didn't get to personally meet Donna and her family, as they were vacationing during our visit. However, she was so personal and helpful in our email conversations prior to our stay, I feel as though I have already met her! We will definitely book this property again if we ever have the opportunity to return to beautiful Boston--thank you SO MUCH for sharing your little part of Boston with us!!
Great central location in South Boston. Spacious third floor living unit which was clean, roomy and which has character befitting its location. Separate rear entrance adjoins living quarters of owners and concerned us prior to trip, but was not an issue at all and is nicely private. Owners are extremely pleasant.
AMAZING PEOPLE! The pictures do not even do this place justice. It is in the cutest area where you can walk to everything. Donna and Max were incredible hosts. The home was inviting, cozy & a fabulous size that exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be back and am so thankful for a wonderful experience that made me feel more than at home. Thank you thank you thank you for a 5 STAR experience all around! :) --Julieanne
Our stay in Boston was fabulous. The apartment is in a superb location with easy access to both the T and to bus stop. Donna and Max were excellent hosts offering great recommendations and advice regarding Boston sites and restaurants.
Highly recommend the apartment for a magnificent visit in Boston!
Located on a street rated 'one of the 10 best' to live on in Mass, our South Boston unit is 6 blocks from the beach, and 3 blocks from the sight of the first Revolutionary War battle - Dorchester Heights (also the highest natural point in Boston). Surrounded by several of Boston's newest/hottest restaurants and ample shopping, we have a bus stop at the corner of our block, and the BCEC Convention Center just over a mile.
