Perfect Parisian Apartment
Wow, what a great place this was! My husband and I had always dreamed of visiting Paris and when I saw this apartment advertised, it was exactly how we imagined staying in Paris should be. Staying there for a week did not disappoint in the slightest. From the time I made contact with Louise, the whole experience was a pleasant one. She made regular contact via email leading up to our stay and met us at the apartment at the time arranged. The location is exactly as described - literally 2 min walk to the Lourve and approx 40 mins to Eiffel Tower if you dont want to catch the Metro at the station 30 seconds walk away. The layout and description of the apartment are exactly as described and shown in the photographs. It was SO nice to stay somewhere CLEAN. The bed was beautiful, crisp white and comfortable and all of the appliances were in perfect working order. Louise even included washing powder, pods for the Nespresso machine and pantry basics in the kitchen for cooking. The special touch was a vase of red roses on display as I had mentioned to her that we were in Paris to celebrate our 15th Wedding Anniversary. Louise had a great knowledge of the area was happy to personally recommend local restaurants, supermarkets and boulangerie's (You have to try the baguettes from Gosselin Boulangerie - AMAZING) and had made up a folder of these and other recommendations too. Our only criticism would be that there was no air conditioning/cooling. We were visiting Paris in Autumn and so the days were mild to cool. However, the afternoon sun shines in the front windows and it did get quite warm. The windows can open right up, but as it is situated on a busy road, it is fairly loud. (The windows are double glazed, so when closed you cannot hear a thing on the street outside) Air conditioning would enable you to be cool and comfortable in every way. But, thats just a small detail. My husband and I would wholeheartedly recommend this apartment to anyone and we plan to get back there as soon as we can. Thank you Louise for making our first (& not last) trip to Paris absolutely perfect.
I'm glad you had a great week but it sounds like I forgot to explain how the heating works... The apartment is equipped with 3 Acova wall radiators in case the temperature drops.
As for the summer, there is a moveable fan and cross breezes, or you can go and put your feet in the Palais Royal fountain.
Come back and feel the heat!
The location can't be beat - the best of what Paris has to offer is literally at your doorstep. Right across Musee du Louvre, the apartment is charming, well equipped and full of character. The value can't be beat too - no security deposits and the cleaning fee is included. Louise, the owner, is also very easy to work with. I was a little bit hesitant in wiring the payments via bank transfer, so when I asked if she could create a PayPal account instead, she willingly obliged. The steps going up to the apartment is a little bit tricky, so make sure not to have any bulky luggage. The only thing that was not so great about our stay was the fact that the other tenant's bags were there when we got in, even if we were told that coming in at that time was no problem. I just wished that was disclosed way before, and not just when we got there and didn't really have much of a choice. So it was a little bit awkward. But I was able to look past that - after all, we are in Paris! The noise outside didn't bother as much as I was afraid it was going to, since the windows can block out most of it. The nights were cool, so not having an airconditioner was OK too. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for its great location and value.
I'm glad you enjoyed staying at the apartment. I'm sorry that you were upset that the baggage had been left for an hour. I try to accommodate people's departure times (letting people stay as late as possible) with the arrival of the next tenants (some who arrive at 7h), as well as co-ordinating cleaning around these flexible times.
Unfortunately in your case, I couldn't let you know about the departure of the previous tenants as I didn't know until you were flying. Sorry!
There is a straight staircase of 20 stairs to climb to reach the apartment.
An warm cocoon in the heart of Paris
I spent 5 weeks in the middle of winter in this beautiful apartment. This was my second stay there.
This apartment is a true home - warm, snug and with everything one needs for a comfortable visit. Louise is a thoughtful host and has a great sense of what a visitor needs to know - not just information on the local attractions, but every day needs such as a good doctor, supermarket, etc.
I enjoyed cooking for myself and friends in the well-equipped kitchen. Laundry and bathroom facilities are also excellent.
I particularly appreciated having so much space to relax in a separate lounge area, and having a dining table for meals. A massive improvement on a cramped hotel room.
The location is of course fantastic, but surprisingly quiet in both day and night time.
I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to live in Paris - as opposed to just staying there.
A very special place
This beautifully appointed apartment is situated right in the heart of Paris. It's literally a stone's throw from the Louvre and an easy stroll to many of the city's inspiring landmarks and attractions. Getting around couldn't be easier.
The interior of the apartment is light and airy with white walls meeting a lovingly restored timber floor. Elegant simplicity. It is uncluttered yet full of character. Louise, the owner has made brilliant use of space and included everything you could possibly need. There's an ample supply of fresh linen, soft towels and fluffy pillows. When it comes to dining, you're spoiled for choice with myriad fine restaurants and cafes on your doorstep. Of if you feel the urge, you can cook up a storm with local produce from the markets. Louise has thoughtfully included instructions for all of the appliances as well as comprehensive information and tips for getting around. Her local knowledge and personal recommendations proved very helpful to me. She was a truly gracious host and went out of her way to make us feel welcome and ensure that everything was just right.
The place was meticulously clean and obviously very well maintained. After a full day of exploring, sightseeing and researching, it was a very comfortable retreat to come home to. I loved sitting in the window late in the afternoon, sipping a wine and watching the world below go by. That was the real magic of this lovely apartment. It felt like my own little home in Paris and I wished that it was. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
Come back, make it your home again!
Ciao Louise e, speriamo, a presto! Sabina
