Our flat - the historic "House of the Red Cross" - is in Prague 1 - Mala Strana, the best part of Prague, up near the Castle and close to many embassies. Essentially everything you are likely to want to see is within walking distance. We are very close to the castle, but the river is also nearby and you can rent rowing boats. In addition to the architecture, we are also close to the hillside parks behind the German and US embassies, where you can walk everywhere and get great views. The building itself is a listed monument and dates back to 1541. It was beautifully restored to a high standard by an Italian restoration company two years ago. Free wireless broadband.

Location, Cleanliness, and Charm X1000
Anna's home is more than I expected by a long shot. First of all Anna has a charming and clean well located apartment. Secondly she has left nothing to chance, if you read her note it is a no brainer(unlike me). The location is about two minutes from the Charles bridge, there is a charming and tasty restaurant (not full of tourist) directly across the street from the apartment. In additon you are in the embassy district that gives you an idea of your neighbors. Lastly, clean to the point that my wife would not find any fault, and quiet enough that you forget you are in a busy and active city. Thank you Anna for the use of your home.
This is in a really good area, a short walk to old-town restaurants and sights. Less than 15 minutes walk to the Charles bridge and the main part of the old town.
The property is excellent, with all conveniences. I did have two issues, however: my beds were not comfortable (too low for an older person) and there is no top sheet. The covering was a quilt, which is far too hot in moderate weather. The beds need a top sheet and a Logitech blanket in summer.
The other problem is the stairs: if you have problems with stairs, this property is not for you. This becomes particularly important if you intend to bring any luggage. The second flight has very narrow treads, which make it more hazardous.
We loved the location, the apt. Was perfect for our family. We would definitely rent it again!
Location location location...steps from an authentic Czech restaurant, 15 mins from the Charles Bridge and Old Town, and US Embassy. The apt. Was not luxurious but very comfortable and well appointed and perfect for our family which included our 20yr old daughter who had her own bedroom. Loved having the clothes washer too. We would definitely rent it again and recommend it highly. The owner communicated immediately with all the information about where to pick up keys making the use worry free. The only downside to this apartment is it is on the third floor, no elevator, with very narrow, tight stairs to carry up and down luggage.

We loved the location! Nice and clean and Plenty of room for the six of us.
The flat was wonderful! It’s in a nice quiet area. Very clean and spacious. Easy walking access to great pubs and restaurants. Fabulous pub in the courtyard. Would definitely stay here again next visit to Prague. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Excellent location, nice and clean, roomy, easy to find.
Thanks very much Gary, and thank you for leaving our flat so beautifully clean and tidy!
I'm very glad you had such a wonderful time and much appreciated your photographs and newspaper article. With best wishes, Anna
Great, quiet location
This apartment worked really well for my friends and I during our week in Prague. The apartment was very quiet and clean, and the location was great as it was a bit removed from the craziness that is the heart of Prague and all of the tourists. It’s an easy downhill walk to the trolley line, but is a very busy trolley line during high tourist season. Anna was wonderful to deal with and patient with me as I asked a lot of questions and worked through the payment details. But everything was as expected and ready for us when we arrived!
I have dropped this to 4 stars for a few reasons. The first is that the stairs up the apartment are a bit treacherous. We had difficulty getting our large bags up, but luckily you only have to do that once. And this is what you have to maneuver after you make your way up a large hill to the apartment entrance. It is quite a good workout to get to the apartment so not a place you would necessarily come back to often during the day. There are no views from the apartment, but there is a great little restaurant downstairs which is a nice place to sit and have a beer.
The second is that the drainage in the shower didn’t quite work. We took very short showers and it appeared to still leak, so we ended up showering in the tub instead. We were told this was fixed, but it was not. And the AC worked better in some areas than others. Because this is an attic space, it got pretty warm in the room I was in as the AC would shut down during the night even though we did not turn it off.
Otherwise, it was really great and is a super apartment for those who are healthy, like to walk and climb stairs, and want to live under the castle. Definitely a great place for a younger active and adventurous family. There is a sneaky back way in/out of the area that we discovered that is very helpful to know about. If they fix the AC and drainage issues, this place would be a 5 for sure!
Our Prague self-catering apartment for vacation rental. The 'House of the Red Cross' lies in a secluded courtyard off Nerudová Street, below Prague Castle. It is just behind the Lichtenstein Palace in the heart of the city's world-famous Malá Strana (Lesser Town) Prague 1 district and has very easy access on foot (400-800m) to the nearby Castle, Charles Bridge, Cathedrals and embassies. The penthouse is on the 2nd floor and forms the roof-space in a building classified as one of the most important renaissance houses in Prague, dating to at least 1541.
