About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-5)

The Franklin House is a historic Grand Haven home located only one block from the waterfront where the famous Grand Haven Musical Fountain can be viewed. Downtown stores, restaurants, coffee shops, galleries and museums are within one to three blocks, yet our property features a large, quiet yard with plenty of private, off-street parking.

These completely remodeled, two-bedroom condominiums include fully-equipped kitchens, comfortable living rooms, fireplaces, air conditioning, in-unit laundry, ten-foot ceilings, and their own private deck or porch, with gas grill and seating. Each unit can comfortably sleep four adults and has all the amenities of home.

There are three condos from which to choose: The front condo is set up like a townhouse. It has the kitchen, dining area, 1/2 bath and living room on the main floor and two bedrooms, 2 baths and laundry upstairs. This condo rents for $100 more per week than the other two due to its extra bathrooms.

The lower, back condo has 2 bedrooms and one bath and is all on one level. It has a large deck that overlooks the back yard and a side, covered porch.

The upper, back condo also has 2 bedrooms and one bath, is all on the same level, but has a flight of stairs to access it. Its spacious, private deck overlooks the backyard.

While the Franklin House can be a great place for reunions it is designed so that each unit feels extremely private. Condominiums are accessed on separate sides of the home. Our facility and location cannot be matched.

Pets and smokers cannot be accommodated.

About Tina Elve

My name is Tina and I own and operate the Franklin House, with the help of my family. My husband, Paul, daughter Isabel who is 19 and 17 year old son Max help me clean, do lawn work, paint...and the list goes on! This is a family-run business in which we take great pride.

I grew up locally and always knew that I wanted to return after college to raise a family in this safe, friendly town that is rich with natural beauty. I adore introducing people to Grand Haven, which I hold so dear, and doing my best to insure that they have a lovely vacation at the Franklin House.

Tina Elve purchased this condo in 2002

Why Tina Elve chose Grand Haven

The Franklin House was built 100 years ago for a prestigious family in town. Years later it was made into a rooming house called the 'Rock Garden Inn.' It fell into disrepair and was completely dilapidated when we purchased it. Paul and I fell in love with this eyesore because we saw its potential! We designed the 3 condos and renovated it, doing much of the work ourselves. It has proven to be a wonderful business to run!

Charming house and town

  • 5 of 5

Adorable house with extremely great location! You can walk to everything, and we did! Grand Haven is beautiful small town and very easy to navigate. The owners were friendly and accommodating! We traveled from Florida with our two small children. I packed everything I could for them including what seemed like the kitchen sink, but somethings just can fit in the car! They were able to provide a high chair which made dining much easier! We were able to check in earlier than expected, and enjoy the children's books that were placed in the room for them. It wasn't necessary, but definitely an nice touch. The washer/dryer apparently had an issue, but before we could dirty enough laundry to find out, it had been replaced with a brand new one without issues. I honestly never leave reviews for anything, but believe they are worth leaving one for. We highly recommend this house!

The home has been beautifully restored. It is well equipped and clean. It is one block off main street and just a couple of blocks from the marina. Tina was very quick at responding to my emails even on a holiday weekend and the booking process was easy with good communication.

Perfect Vacation Experience

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I took our first stab at renting from an owner instead of a hotel. It was the perfect experience and I will never turn back to a hotel in Grand Haven. We already wanted to book again for next year within a day of talking to the owner and entering the condo.

First off, the owner is superb with communication. She clearly cares about the guests. I felt welcome before arrival and upon arrival. Next, the property is kept very nicely outside and immaculate in the unit. This was my first time at a privately owned home instead of a hotel and I'll never turn back to a hotel in Grand Haven.

The unit had a private porch, chairs, table and a gas grill. The interior was super clean, homelike and included just about everything- towels, dishes, a washer and dryer, bedding, full kitchen and kitchen utensils to name a few. You basically only need to bring yourself and food if desired. It's close to all the restaurants, bars, shops and the pier.

We were more than satisfied and already plan to book again. Thank you for your graciousness, welcoming attitude and fantastic condo. We highly recommend, except for the dates we want! 😉

Another great vacation at the Franklin House.

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I discovered the Franklin House in Grand Haven in 2007 and have been returning since then as much as possible. This year I reserved the back unit for three weeks to celebrate my 80th birthday. I had many family visitors and friends join me. My niece and her husband from Orlando, Fl and my nephew and his wife from Jacksonville, Fl. came for the last week and occupied the front unit. We love that we can walk to downtown, restaurants and the channel. We all had a great time and hopefully we can return next year. Thanks, Tina and Paul.

"This place is really nice!"

  • 5 of 5

My family probably got tired of hearing me say that. But it's true. The Franklin house is a wonderful place to stay: spacious, clean, cozy, and appointed so nicely. We stayed in the front and were very comfortable. The place is quiet. Though the house was fully occupied, we never heard a peep from the other folks. And even being in the front in August, the noise from the road was minimal. The location is really nice, within walking distance to town, pretty neighborhoods, the boardwalk, and pier, but out of the main fray. And it was great meeting Tina; she's so friendly and helpful.

Beautiful Clean house/condo's. Perfect location to downtown.

Ditto to what everyone else has said about this house. We rented the whole house over Labor Day weekend. We had 3 families (6 adults, 6 teenagers). This house was perfect for our group as the teenagers could hang out in one condo and the adults in another. The weather was perfect so that allowed us to walk into town several times. I liked that we were a block or less to town but still had the quiet residential feel. We were very impressed with the house in that it was clean, spacious, tons of amenities (soap, spices, paper towel, kleenex, toilet paper…). Under the back deck were two wagons with a few beach toys, noodles. We didn't use any of these but it was nice to see that they were available. I've rented on VRBO many times and most of the time these things are not included. I highly recommend this house! Thank you Tina and Paul!

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to meet your family and host your crew, Diane! (Tell your husband that he did such a persuasive sales job on his Flex that I am soon to be the proud new owner of one!) I so appreciate you taking the time to provide a review. Many thanks! I hope you host you all again in the future.
